I LOVE MAGNUS!!!

I brought the pack for skywarp, with the intention of giving Magnus to my nephew but I kept them both :lol:

I prefer the Magnus figure to skywarp to be honest.

Okay, I get he should have had a trailer, but minus that, what else should his cab be other that a white repaint of Optimus? That's what he always was. It would be like saying you can't believe a Classic Bluestreak is a repaint of a Classic Prowl. Or complaing that Classic Buzzsaw was a repaint of Classic Laserbeak!

You can't compare Bluestreak/Prowl and Buzzsaw/Laserbeak to Prime/Magnus.

Ultra Magnus ALWAYS combined with his armour. For 20 odd years that was the Ultra Magnus we knew.

Dreamwave comes along, does 1 panel in a comic without his armour and next thing you know the a good majority of the Optimus Primes that are produced are painted white and called Ultra Magnus.

That's my biggest objection. They're making him out to be a simple repaint of Optimus Prime. Yeah, the G1 CAB was a white version of Prime, but that's not who the character was. Ultra Magnus ALWAYS combined with his trailer.

As far as i'm concerned Ultra Magnus is only Ultra Magnus when combined with a trailer. That's been my belief for 20 years, just because Hasbro produces a bunch of cheap repaints doesn't mean I should change my opinion about it.

Do you see me rushing out to buy these "Ultra" Magnus repaints? No. Don't insult my intelligence with the "don't like it, don't buy it" line. Scaleface asked why people don't like it, i'm simply explaining my reasoning why I don't like it, and why I don't go out and buy the White Primes.

i really like the "Classics" Magnus. i, as many posters, grew up with the G1 white semi-truck Mags, so it has a definate nostalgic value to me. somehow, since being a youngster, i imagined some sort of "Optimus' Ghost" connotation from it (thought not true in any TF timeline).

Still, an excellent toy, though a trailer would be cool. pack him in with Skywarp (my favorite next to 'Scream and Jetfire) and i'm sold (in fact, already purchased). thinking about picking up an extra set if available to keep in box. Can't believe people are stripping the Skywarps out and selling the box w/only Magnus...but hey, it's the 21st century internet...

lastly, the only other Optimus-copied repaints of Magnus i know of is the original G1 and this one (maybe 1-2 mini-sized TF's). as far as i know the rest are quite different molds (correct me if i'm wrong! i'm not too proud to admitt it).

I really love the mold. It's shame we couldn't get the paint like the back box. That would've been a better Magnus in term of coloring.

Anyhow, I just purchased the set yesterday from Ebay so it should arrive to my house in a couple of days.

I guess if you only followed the cartoon and comic in the 80's, then you never knew the Magnus robot cab exit. But if you are die hard UMagnus fan like your truely, then you'll pay attention to the toy back box art and see that Magnus robot cab does make appearance in there. G1 Magnus robot cab exists in both toy ads and back box art since the 80's. But the credit gets to PatLee, ehehe.

Last guy nailed it. At 31 yrs old I remember the box of the original toy wich influenced kids on how to interpet the toy as much as the cartoon or comics. Pat Lee or not Ultra magnus is and always has been a white prime clone who augmented his strength with armor that transformed into his trailer. This line was designed to be short lived and limited as far as price points went. This toy with a trailer
would be leader class at $39.99 us. They didn't do Ops and Megs at the leader scale for the regular line so you can't expect target to commit beyond what hasbro did for an exclusive of the Magnus I ran mine down and dig the hell out of it. Symbols on the shoulders are a nice touch indeed. This is the first line in years I've had to open them all when i get them. Hope hasbro might pick them up again down the road sometime.

I just came back from Target and they had dozens of them. Skywarp looks great and so does Magnus. I didn't realize they were only $19.99! Why the heck are people complaining about Magnus? He had nice Autobot symbols on his arms, unlike any other Autobots. He is a true-to-toy homage to the G1 character, and he's an Voyager selling for the price of a Deluxe! Yes, a trailer would have enhanced it, but for $10, it's a great Magnus.

It's a Voyager, not an Ultra. That would truly be an insane steal.

I don't mind the set as much as some do, because the Prime mold is excellent, Skywarp is an awesome repaint that's miles beyond Starscream, and it's a rocking deal. However, I wouldn't really want to have the set if I already had Prime (which I did, and have sold). I don't even want my Screamer anymore now that I have a sweet, sweet Ramjet, but that's just me. I can't afford completism, even in a small line like Classics, and I want to try to have a balance between factions this time.

Um dude are you not reading what everyone else is saying? Most people see G1 Magnus a the robot combined with the trailer. That's what distinguishes Magnus from Prime. The only reason why there was a white Prime/Convoy cab was because of the altmode and because it was part of the dialcone line originally, NOT G1!!! You need to remember the molds existed well before there was a TF's franchise and there was more thna one Convoy figure. Had the technology been around then I'm sure G1 Magnus would have had a different mold and way cooler figure. G1 Magnus is supposed to be combined with a trailer. You never saw him out of it in the cartoon or some some of the comics he was in. It is no homage to G1 Magnus because there is no trailer nor no attachable armor which converts into a trailer. This is Hasbro getting lazy. Yes they could've kept the figure but they could've at least given more reason to have it and more reason to sell it seperately. They only packed him with Skywarp because they knew most people would not buy it by itself.

If this was a homage to G1 Magnus, Prime would have gotten similar treatment like Megatron did in TFTM, except made Prime white and given him battle armor.

This is one of the reasons I hate Pat Lee (that and he screwed his own companey by taking on too many projects too quickly when his companey could not handle it financially causing it to go down and screwing up a perfectly good G1 storyline.) He gave Hasbro the reason they needed to get lazy with another character even if not intentionally.

I think the Classics rock and to me Prime's mold is sweet. I think Magnus is awsome too. With them being the same it's like they could be brothers. :-?

Seriously though I think Magnus' colors are great. I just hope Hasbro doesn't get a Motormaster/Menasor idea for that mold that would be terrible.

I love my Magnus repaints. I would have liked it if he looked like he did on the back of the box, but that's stock photos for you. It always looks prettier on the package then it does in your hands, but I sitll like Magnus as is.

These are excellent pieces of work done by excellent 'bashers. A shame tallents like these don't work on the creative team at Hasbro.

While the colours may look a **** load better, aside from the Cybertron Prime repaint (still have no idea what the deal with the orange is on that one) or the Overload repaint, he's still not combining with a trailer which to me is one of the major traits of his character.
