Get the frack outta here! Ebert actually gave a good review to something other than art house, foreign, drama crap?

"Consider the knowledge dropped."
From ToplessRobot.com:• "Watching Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is marginally better than sh***ing your pants, but it takes a lot longer." Very well put.

That's a good non-biased review.

Unfortunately they won't. They'll write it off, or grasp at some negativity straw, just as they always do.

Hope they enjoy being in the minority, then. Of course, anything that happened in the last 72 hours that could have changed their minds wasn't likely to anyway.

I really am surprised that he was going to give it 4 stars. I guess he just couldn't handle the robot ass-kicking action. Sissy.

If you're a Transformers fan and you like action, there's no reason to hate this movie. The designs make the movie seem more realistic, and the good voice actor Megatron has makes up for his design. Starscream looks pretty good in the movie, too. Just cave and see it once so that you can give a valid opinion!

ok i havent seen this because some suit deciced we wont get it till the 27th of jusly so i wont be seeing it till a decent pirate comes my way but i wanted to point out a few ideas ive got from reading this thread. first off.
how do we know anyones died?
seriously, this is transformers. if the comic taught us anything its that unless someone rips open a skull tears out their CPU and scrushes it, they aint dead. hell even then theres ways out of it !
i'll admint im shocked jazz dies but unless the mech, or anyone else, is vaporised he can be fixed. hell thats whats ratchet is for let alone the allspark.
which bring up my second idea. some were asking why techonology exposed to it becomes little killing machines. my guess would be this is the matrix. we know its only called the allspark because the suits didnt want people confused with keanu reaves movird . just because from what i can discern the TFs dont know what it is or where it comes from doesnt mean its not primus's distilled essence and if it is that then humans fecking around with it would cause the matrix to so what it does best. create life. but it wouldnt be directed as if someone like prime or megs or shockwave was in controll so what we get is essentially silicon based animals. and seeing as the primus origin was all about stopping unicron that explains the weaponry too.
now im gonna say something that'll probably drive people nuts. am i the only one whos thought that if megs dies the way i think he does in this film then theres a good chance he'll be back..... as galvatron? seriously lads, we know from the first animated film it can reformat them ala rodimus and apparently in this film it regrows frenzy so why is everyone assuming its gonna kill him. particularly if theres an out. from what ive read in the movie adaptaton prime says it can kill him but even in the cartoon he admits he can be wrong. a theme of the sequel could be prime having to get the allspark out of megs !
anyway thats just my impressions from stuff you guys have been saying. im glad we get to see cybertron, annoyed about the "devastator" thing. that was just lazy. and im happy cullen gets so many lines. the guy should be highlighted in the credits as that voice is amazing. and its nice to hear the bots all get time in the sun. a pity the cons dont get many lines but lets be honest they speak best with their fists so toneally it sounds like its on the level.
on another subject i have to say i just noticed something. the bots and cons look great in the daylight! now that may sound stupid but think about it. how many superhero flicks sucked because the protagonist looked stupid during the day? hell thats why most of em are set at night so the fact prime and co can pull of those colour schemes in the real world is testemant to the ILM lads.
cant wait for this so spare a thought for us lot who wont see it till the end of the month !

Just got back and it was awesome. My buddy who isn't really into transformers went with me and he thought it was awesome. He absolutly loved the action. As we left he says to me " That can't be the end of Megatron". I responded with "I'm sure it isn't" Lot of action from beginning to end. As someone who has been with Transformers since 1984 i think this was very well done.

Actually I did up until recently. And 9 times outta of 10, I've liked everything he pans, and visa versa, everything he said was good has been utter crap. Actually, the group of people I hang with all go by the saying "If Ebert likes it, it's gonna suck". I never liked him or his reviews anyway.

I just got back from seeing the movie, and it was pretty good. It's not as good as I hoped but I still liked it. I was disappointed with the Bonecrusher/Prime fight because seeing from the trailers, I thought Bonecrusher was going to unleash chaos, but it was very quick and not enough excitement. I was also disappointed with the level of interaction between Megatron and Starscream. I wish the Transformers theme would be present, but I can deal with it. We haven't seen what happened to Barricade and Scorponok so I think we can expect them in the sequel. Overall, a kick butt movie.

I CLAIM THIS PAGE IN THE NAME OF THE MOVIE!
It's official. The countdown clock is in negative numbers. The movie forum has had a spike in posts. I still have a rapid heartbeat. THE MOVIE IS OUT.
And I went to see it! Let's run down the list of good and bad...
GOOD:
-Great action.
-Great acting.
-Breathtaking CGI.
-The robot modes look great.
-Good humor.
-Good cast choices.
-BIG F'ING EXPLOSIONS.
-A good plot.
-Great music. Even some rock.
-The characters were portrayed well, even better than in G1 in some cases.
BAD:
-Brawl, Bonecrusher, and Blackout didn't have any lines. Starscream had three, Barricade had two, and Megatron was a big focus but didn't come in until late in the film. The Decepticons were minors, except in the battle scenes.
-Whenever there was a tackle, you couldn't tell that there were two seperate robots for a second or two. And they liked to tackle.
-Jazz and Ratchet could have been in more scenes.
-A little to much focus on the humans in some parts.
-The overcomplicated transformations (basically every tiny part moves) make you not notice the MASS SHIFTING for some of the characters like Jazz and Bumblebee.
But the good is generalized more than the bad, and it was great overall...so I give it...
FINAL SCORE:
4 STARS

Just got back from seeing the movie and may I say that it was great. My god the work they did with the Transformers by CGI was great. They looked like they fit on screen perfectly. Also Cullen as Optimus was like reliving my childhood. I will be seeing this movie a couple of more times maybe this week.

Awesome movie. Exceptional.
It was a fair compromise between old school and new school.
Didn't it seem like they made Starscream way, waaaay more powerful and cool than every other Transformer?
Jazz dying didn't make a ton of sense. They could have easily sacrificed Ironhide and people wouldn't have cared as much.

Okay, here's my POV
I just got back from seeing the movie for the first time.
I enjoyed myself...but was not as entertained as I had hoped. Transformers 2007 felt like a decent movie in place of an excellent movie.
The Good
- Shia LaBeouf carries this film. He's funny, sincere, and endearing. Also, out of the human cast, Josh Duhamel pulls significant weight as a solider just trying to get home.
- The FX are amazing. At times, it is very difficult to see what's going on. When two Transformers clash, and the camera jiggles back and forth, it looks like a jumbled car wreck. For the most part, however, the FX shots are amazing if a little senseless.
- Much of the goofy humour helps add a sense of fun to a movie overwrought with action.
- The Autobots and Decepticons look amazing, and the Autobots all act like they should. Prime is prime, and the rest of their characterizations are great. The Decepticons don't talk much, but Megatron is also great. He's more Beast Wars Megs than classic G1, but it works for me. I wish they all got more screen time though.
The Bad
- The movie lacks a sense of wonder. It's all about shooting, blowing stuff up, speeding, and destruction. What's lacking is a sense of amazement and wonder at the concept of heroic robots fighting against evil decepticons. Besides Prime, the autobots never really feel like heroes.
- The movie is badly paced and convoluted for such as simple plot. The film cuts back and forth between so many different elements it makes your head spin. A lot of the human story could have been cut out. Prolonged scenes with Sam and his parents were funny but kind of boring, and much of the stuff going on between the US Defense Department and Sector 7 was quite tiring. They could have spent that time better building up the plot and focusing on the Autobots or Decepticons.
- Female and characters of African-descent are, once again, relegated to, in the former case, sexual objects and "helpers" instead of well-rounded characters, and, in the latter case, comic relief. I wish they had done more with these characters instead of marginalizing them like most Hollywood films
- The movie wasn't very fun. It was exciting and at times amazing, but never fun. It doesn't sweep you up on a grand journey, it bangs you over the head with action set pieces.
Overall, the movie entertained me, but I wasn't "wowed". The more I think about it, I loved every thing with the Transformers and the last act of the film, but everything in between was pretty disposable.
I don't think this film will be very rewatchable. If you're a fan, go see it in theaters...if not....wait for DVD.
