Hi All,
Couple of months ago I was asking about the differences between the latest release of the Hasbro Optimus Prime compared to the original release.
Well, I picked up the 20th Anniversary DVD Prime yesterday (Argos have it in their new catalouge at €105) and thought I would share my opinions on it.
Bad points: A blue gun - what's that all about? Really, it is not as bad as I thought it would be but just the fact it's blue throws me.
Chrome - as in NONE! Talk about cheap. I had originally planned to get the smokestack extentsions but now won't because they would be chrome and will not blend in with the new cheapness of this figure.
By the way, the pictures on the back of this figures box has long chrome smokestacks and a better paint app - the Masterpiece version perhaps?
Paint App - this is the worst part of the figure. It is really bad. The little yellow paches on his face are not well applied but the worst part is on his chest where the windows open for the matrix to go in.
The red paint is patchy at best and chipped in places. The little lights on the top of the cab have a lot of grey paint over spray which spills on to the red paint. For a figure that costs this much, it really is disgraceful.
All I can say is I am glad I did not have to spend money on it! Don't worry, I got vouchers from work!!!
Overall, this is a really cheap version of a great figure. For people in Ireland, at the price this figure is going for you're into the kind of money that will get you a Masterpiece Prime off the net and that is what I would advise you to do. Don't get the cheap immitation of a great figure, get the real deal.
