Say someone's playing time is capped, and they would normally play more than they are currently being allowed... Not only are they not playing, but there's one less opponent for the opposing faction.
I am against capping for this reason.
You keep the Arena the way it is--if it ain't broke, don't fix it, ya know?
The arena kind of is broken, though, as it generates lots of people complaining about "arena dwellers".
Then you have the mission goers who fight and gain territory for their faction and unlock all sorts of goodies for the faction.
Why then, should the arena dwellers have access to those goodies when they contributed little to nothing to get them?
The obvious solution would be to have all these bonuses count as "foreign objects" and not be allowed in the arena.
I'm not saying that's what SHOULD be done - only that that's one possible solution. If such solutions exist, there's noghting to stop there being other solutions that OS has already implemented.
In the new system it will be 1 of 5.
From the sounds of it, there'll be other XP options, so an Energon-only arena sounds very, very good to me.
This new Pit Fighting feature screams to me of abuse if the rumors of it that I'm hearing are true (betting XP and/or Energon on the fights.)
For the abuse to occur, it would requre people to be actively combining together and cheating, and that can happen already. Hell, at least this way, it'll be more obvious and therefore, easier to spot.
xp, stats, weapons and energon will be zeroed out in order to get everything matched up with the new game engine.
It might be nice to start with 300xp or so, in order to customise our bots straight off the bat. Has this been suggested, yet?
And yes, I realise how nasty that sounds but as i've said in the past, I find it a slap in the face for myself and all the others who spent over 2 years developing the challenge arena to see it butchered to pieces.
Any chance of a link?
