So..... 3 days ago, due to a combination of old age, and medical issues..... we had made the decision to put our dog Hannah down. It was pretty hard, but her hearing was gone, her vision on its way out, and she was in not a lot, but a little pain that was about to get a lot worse. She had a couple of issues that would be very easy to fix with a minor surgery in a young dog, but at her age, the risk far out weighed the potential for improved quality of life.
Basically, we'd be keeping her here for our benefit, not hers.
I'm 38. I've 'lost' many family pets in my life, and Hannah was my wife's dog that I adopted when we got married. So in a very real way, this was my first pet. So much harder than I thought it would be.
Anyway, sorry to be a downer, I just felt the need to share. Snuggle your fur babies my friends, you never know when they will be gone.
