I think it's #4, the one holding the mace. It's certainly not one of the 5 main Dinobots. Maybe it's another take on Movie Grimlock, or maybe it's something else (come on, ankylosaurus). Either way, I'll probably get it.

Interesting. The design does look different yet... vaguely familiar (unless I'm just imagining said vague familiarity).Mkall wrote:Sabrblade wrote:Got a pic or link?Mkall wrote:Sabrblade wrote:Who's this, now?Mkall wrote:but it looks like FP will be making at least one non-canon Dinobot that I may get as well.

Here you are. I was mistaken, it's their 5th release that's interesting...

So which set's better in your opinion guys?

Are you a fan of the WfC and FoC (particularly FoC) video games? Planet X is going to follow those aesthetics. Want more of a "classics" G1 type look? FP is probably going to be the ticket.
I don't recall both pictures being in the same post. Let's see if this works...
Planet X:
FansProject:
Though it should be noted that the FP pictured here is the shiny convention exclusive. The colors will be a little bit muted, more of a bronze and gray.
FP's looks a little more articulated in dino mode, particularly the neck. For right now, since I have a separate video game/pre-Earth cybertronian shelf (and since PX is giving us about a dinobot a year) I am getting both. If no one has done it by then, I'll take pics of the two Sludges together.

If you can, spend the extra money to get Takara Grimlock. The grey color used for the mold matches what Planet X uses more so than any Hasbro release.

I'm ok with that for now. FoC Grimlock serves adequately, and looks even better if you have the add-on kits for him.
Most of the FOC Grimlock add-on kits are meant to make him look more G1-accurate than game-accurate. Like giving him robot mode wings and new heads and new weapons.xyl360 wrote:Mkall wrote:I don't think they're sold on making Grimlock right now, so we need to let them know that there is a market for him

Do they do anything to improve his robot mode at all, or just his beast mode? I ask because mine is always in bot mode for one thing, and for another, I *might* display him in beast mode if it weren't for that tail (it's not the end of the world, but it is pretty fat and ugly).

Ah, they're absolutely useless to me then. That would be a step backwards.
