Let's face it, Hasbro's been doing this since the beginning of the Transformers franchise, so what's the difference now? Let's take, for example, BW Dinobot; he's been repainted/remolded so many times, it's not even funny:
Original release => Takara's release => Hasbro's 10th Anniversary => Takara's 10th, not to mention all the repaints/slight remolds into different characters (a la 08 Bumblebee to Cliffjumper)
It's economically reasonable for Hasbro to milk the molds for all they're worth (see: Dinobot again, Energon Arcee, etc.), and we're obviously going to have hindsight-bias every time as well. But, I doubt that Hasbro pre-planned the premium line months in advance. The only reason they're having a premium line, I'd say, is based upon how well the original line did, and that's nobody's fault but our own.
All this hostility is annoying and reminiscent of many fan-overreactions of the recent past. Hasbro's not making anybody buy these, and, frankly, we should be glad that demand for Transformers is high enough to warrant this line.
Personally, I held out (aka was broke at the time) and I'm looking forward to getting a couple of these.

That's the point many are trying to make, isn't it? That Hasbro is repainting and milking the franchise for more money. They aren't going to be doing anythign new.
It's ironic really. The only people supporting their efforts will mainly be adult collector's with money. I find it hard to believe parents are going to pay for another of essentialy the same toy just because of a different paint job, or if many kids would care.

they should have done it in the first place, instead of releasing the toys we have now.

This is Hasbro, people. They will milk the hell out of any toy the think they can still sell. Hello?

I knew that would be said. So you think they should have gone back in time and put a sword on Prime when they didn't even know about it?

well, they could have released the sword as an accessory, ala that custom one floating on eBay a month or two ago...

Cyberjet #7 wrote:It kind of seemed like Hasbro didn't know the TF movie would do this well. Almost like they were hesitant and now they want to totally milk it.
The distribution of waves has been very slow and I think they're playing catch-up.
Hasbro doesn't do accessories, plus that one on e-bay was like $80. My point anyways is that Hasbro could make a figure, then people could suggest an improvement, and Hasbro does it for the same price, yet somebody will complain about it. Well I guess what they shouldn't think of improving their products anymore.[/quote]Liege Evilmus wrote:
