Alternator Rumble Modifications ?

Postby Bun-Bun » Fri May 18, 2007 5:05 am

Has anybody found a good way to modify Alt. Rumble so that his piledrivers aren't so floppy?

Also has anyone found a way to give him real arm/hands while still being able to switch to the piledrivers?

I've taken his arms apart and have thought that maybe putting in a wider spring would help the floppiness, but I haven't actually tried it yet.

As for the arms/hands, it looks like it may be possible to find ones that can be inserted into the bottom of the piledriver head.

Any help would be appreciated.

I can't offer any help, but I would also love to see a solution if anyone has one.

I used the Scion arms. Basically I just took them apart at the shoulder and made my own plugs to slip into the screw hole on the piledriver.

There are people using the Integra arms [from the elbow down] as well.

Someone on Tfans.com mentioned Camshaft's hand work perfectly. Their ball joint plugs right into the screw hole of the piledrivers without any modifications.

This is second-hand info, I can't even find Cammy or Rumble...

Me too :?
Actually I do have another one but I'm saving him for the Red Alert Treatment.

Anyone have a junker Prowl they'd be willing to sell cheap :-?

So that's one down, anybody have a fix for the floppy pildrivers?

If you don't pull the piledriver all the way out [roughly leaving 1/4" in] you can wedge the piledriver at an angle and keep it from flopping around. Basically, a smaller detail of the pile driver will catch on the backside of the upper arm opening.

It doesn't fix the problem but it kinda makes it less noticable.

Also, when you go about fixing in arms, I recommend shifting the upper arm up at the shoulder locking it into place as if you were going to turn him back into a car. Makes things look a little more proportional.

Hmm, ok thanks.

I figured I'd bump this one last time to see if anybody who wasn't on this weekend has any light to shed on this.

I'm still looking for a quick easy Mod to reduce the floppiness of the Piledrivers (sorry Cyber Tooth, wedging them everytime doesn't sound appealing to me 8) )
