Your question about wether the flesh would rip is interesting. The beast wars are quite confusing in that respect, as Cheetor is suffocated once, but it seems they have a thin covering of flesh on the parts that need them, and they just move away from each other.
Hey, it is the future of Cybertrons technology. Seriously, beast wars is the best though, especially once the Transmetals arrive.
I am a very disgruntled Brit.

So is it pretty much common for the fans of Beast Wars to hate Beast Machines?

I really did like the BW shows, the ones I saw anyway, but the storyline of BM really went a bit out there for my taste.

Is there anyone that really liked BM?

I see the appeal now, but I think I am sticking to non organic transformers for collecting, besides I don't need to spend more $$$ either.

At first I had no interest in BW. I found the idea of robots to animals daft. Then I sat down and watched the whole story and got into it. The fact that it looped back to G1 was great, the animation improved with each series and the characters were few and well thought through.

BM took things a step further. Things sort of got a bit spiritual with the oracle etc. I liked the story but wasnt keen on the Vehicons, legions of the same drone attacking again and again got dull but then they introduced a couple of clever ideas, wont give anything away.

Im not sure where I stand on the sudden appearance of organic parts to Cybertronians. Where did it come from, wouldnt the matter already have to be part of them for it to transform?

I've never liked the Beast era toys much and doubt I ever will, but I thoroughly enjoyed the Beast Wars show -- probably the best overall TF show to date. In saying that, there are some ways that I personally prefer the Beast Machines series. In particular I would quite comfortably say that BM has the most adult/mature writing and premise out of all the series, even more so than BW did. BM has a sci-fi feel to it that somewhat transcends the other shows. Basically it's an aquired taste that many don't appreciate.

After reading this thread, I started watching the BW pilot and... ummm... I just can't help but find it highly annoying.

The initial thing was when they gave themselves names. Surely they'd already have names? Why rename yourself to suit your new coat? Granted, I wouldn't expect that to happen every episode, but it still bugged me.

The main problem I had was the TFs instructing themselves to transform (Cheetor... maximise! Megatron... Terrorise!). Gha! It was irritating enough seeing it once, but when they had the first big face-off and every character did it in sequence... I think I died a little inside, knowing that such irritation had been inflicted on the world.

And as for Waspinator's constant status reports... I wanted to squish the annoying little thing with a big mallet.

I just couldn't bring myself to watch past that episode.

Weapon: Null-Ray Rifle
I LOVED Beast Wars...it's easily one of my favorite Transformer series. As a kid (maybe 5-9 years old) I was a huge fan of the G1 cartoon, and I can easily say that, nostalgia aside, Beast Wars is leaps and bounds above G1.

I actually liked Beast Machines. The characters were (for the most part) great. I enjoyed the character development that followed over from Beast Wars. Primal became really spiritual and passed the leader torch over to Cheetor (who's development from beast wars child to BM hardened leader was awesome). Black Arachnia was still badass, but I like how she still cared about Silverbolt. Silverbolt himself was pretty good...it made sense that he'd be a little bitter over what he'd done as a vehicon...that was well written IMO. His Beast mode, on the other hand...eww... Rattrap was still as awesome as ever, and Rhinox becoming evil was pretty interesting. Megatron's character was greatly enhanced from scheming mastermind to a misunderstood genius.

The new characters, though....kinda sucked. Especially Nightscream who I assume was supposed to be the equivelent of BW Cheetor. I honestly don't see why people hated Beast Machines...I think it's the same reason G1 Fans hated Beast wars: It was different. Sometimes people can't let go of nostalgia and despise any sort of change.

More then lilely Shockwaves dead. The script for the 86 animated TF film featured Shockwaves death and theres some story board art that suggest that Unicron crushed him following his line " we're under attack ....scramble!!!"

Ether way Shockwave was never heard from again after the fight with Unicron. And besides after the war was over I doubt that the safty of Cybertron would have been left in the hands of one of Megatrons top Lieutenant.

Remember Beast Wars takes place about 300 years after the end of the Great War.
