Case:-Starscream Voyager, first version and color scheme (Movie 2007)-Bonecrusher Deluxe, first version and color scheme (Movie 2007)-Gundam Exia, Master Grade, 1/100 scale(Swag)Brief History:Hello ladies and gentleman. Painted Transformers have been few and far between since the boom we witnessed 5 years ago. It has already been a bit longer than that since the first movie, which modernized the toys into what came to be one of the greatest toy lines ever put together, for the most part.Without the crazy hype and newness of the custom TF phenomenon, people are only looking if they really love to see some good work enter their collection. It also forces painters to up their game so that you can get what you pay for. Introduction:The name is Michael Nguyen, and I'm saving up for the software required to produce an awesome 3d side scroller for PC and Xbox. Out of the many, I've chosen the best 3 of my works to provide you with something sweet as well as give you a chance to aid in the funding of a major project. I tend to make big one-shot posts in forums.Methods:The best way to get others to understand what you have is to tell them what you did. Withheld information and mystique is a thing of the past these days. If not let you know, then to give painters some insight. All these techniques are used in my routinePrime with spray. Sand down the excess prime. Open enamel bottle of color choice and don't shake it up. The clear fluid on the top keeps the paint from drying. If your bottle is running out of the clear liquid which keeps your paint from drying; gold & bronze have a LOT of extra liquid that you can transfer to your thirsty bottles.Get a scooper(paper clip maybe?).Scoop the paint from the bottom of the bottle onto a palette.Artist quality brushes at the art store work best. Expensive.Use flat brushes for wide panels.To preserve panel painting brushes, always brush by dragging the hairs. Prohibit yourself from dabbing, as round brushes and ruined brushes can be used to apply the destructive dry-brushing technique.Hairline thin brushes can be used to sharpen edges or paint into panel slits.Use flat paint to make solid colors, and use gloss paint as a finishing touch.To get a solid color, gradually build up with thin layers.Use thinner to make sure that the paint is... thin.Apply paint, and do not stroke on top of the wet surface, or the paint will wither.In actuality, the thinner reactivates dry paint, so your under-layers will be wet again.Mix gold with warm colors to get some sparkle.Mix silver with cold colors to get some sparkle as well.Sand down and paint over if colors are getting too thick.Color Application Facts:Prime with white if you want to get yellow, white, pastel or any bright pigment results.Prime with gray if you want red, blue, purple, gray, or any bold midtones.Prime with gray if you want darker colors.Flat black is gray looking. You will need to put gloss on top of it to achieve real black.If gloss is too much, mix flat paint with gloss paint.Use gloss black to paint shady areas and oily joints. Flat black is too gray looking for that.Gloss colors do not paint solid enough. They are very jelly like.Instead, use flat paint to get solid colors, then apply gloss as a finishing touch.If you want to get to a light color from a mid tone, sand down the area in question, reprime with white, then paint the desired color.If you want to get to a dark color from white, do the opposite.Figure Choice Reasoning:As mentioned before; I painted a lot of figures, and threw them all away due to how ugly they ended up. I loved those figures. I only paint the figures I like. Unfortunately, I can't fool myself into believing that I did a good job(laughs). Starscream and Bonecrusher are beautiful in design. They're overly detailed and provide an ample amount of room for creativity. Gundam Exia is just my favorite Gundam of all time. He makes all other robots look like they're stone age.
