Buy just ONE movie toy, which should it be?

Postby CJH » Sun Aug 12, 2007 1:32 pm

I'm not a manic collector, I think I used to be but I've grown out of it, what with having to conserve money and all. I've heard a lot about the various classes and the different figures from the movie, and I can't decide which one I should get. Is there a definitive BEST one out there? As far as how well its made, ease of transformation, likeness in robot mode etc.
I'm tempted towards an Optimus Prime, leader class look impressive but it's kinda expensive for my tastes.

I enjoy the film so much I should get at least ONE of them! :) Which are people's favourites?

Leader Prime is pretty nice. If you don't want to drop $40 on it though, I'm sure everyone will say 08 Bumblebee, though I don't yet have him myself. I also rather like Voyaher Ironhide.

1 option 2008 Deluxe Bumblebee If you see it at the store for 10 dollars. Don't over pay for it on line. Want to get him as soon as I see one.

2 option Voyager Ironhide Came across several in the stores. Goes for 20 bucks. Bought one didn't regret it.

3 option Leader Optimus Prime but the 40 dollar price tag seems a bit steep for him. But it's cheaper than what he goes for on line.

4 option deluxe Barricade Very nice but rare. Had one and I got it quick that day.

I'd suggest 08 Bumblebee or one of the Optimus Prime's, leader class or voyager class. Personally, I prefer the voyager's guns and form over the leader. That one's too blocky for me.

I'm only going to buy one movie toy and that will be the '08 Bumblebee. Perhaps Cliffjumper just to round out the Camaro collection.

I'm in much the same boat... in fact I just started "collecting" with the movie. I hadn't gotten a new Transformer since I was like 10 years old (1986). But, the film inspired me to at least gawk at this stuff instead of records/music for the past month or so. :)

I resigned myself two only get to fig's from the movie...

-- 08 Bumblebee (movie deluxe)

-- 1 Decepticon...I'm really leaning towards Blackout, as he was the coolest bad guy in the film (IMO).

That's it...for me.

I totally understand what it means to select a cool toy with a limited budget. I have 3 TFs thanks to TRU's sale back in mid-July. With a $25 dollar TF purchase, I got a free real gear :)

Anyways, I would choose the 2008 Bumblebee. I don't have one yet, but I will soon because I ordered my battle-damaged one off of Target.com.

Out of the ones I have - Ironhide, Barricade - I choose Barricade because he is great for the price of $10. I saw exactly 1 of him at a Wal-mart after I bought my own. They're very hard to come by.

I would recomend maybe another decepticon besides blackout, he is definitely cool in the movie, but less in toy version, i still like the toy but i think theres better ones, starscream and barricade for example, but if u really really want it and can find it go for it.

For me it would be Starscream... but for others if they could only get one I would suggest the Voyager Class Optimus Prime. Leader Prime is also pretty sweet.

I've had this same question...
I figured more people would be recommending Bonecrusher...

08 BB is lookin' pretty sweet though.

Most of the decepticons can't hold a candle to the average autobot. Starscream is pretty cool, as is bonecrusher and barricade.

But, you're getting good advice from these guys. Leader Prime, Ironhide or '08 BB. Those are quite awesome. Once you get either of those ... the madness will begin. The Lay's potato chip slogan shall come into SERIOUS effect.

Then you'll tell yourself, just this 1 line. A little advice ... don't look nto alternators/binaltech line. Just, don't.

QFT!

leader prime is a good choice to go with, not the best one out there but size and looks place it above the rest of the toys in the line..

Sorry, I got Alternator Shockwave, the purple Mazda RX8, about 2 years ago :P And.. he's successfully the only one I've ever got.

Thanks for the advice people, any chance of cutting down the massive number of toys is much appreciated. Please continue :D

Leader Brawl or FAB BlackOut if you have a dog, scaring Yorkshires with his features is awesome.

I've got quite a few TFs since I got back into collecting with BW Transmetals/RiD. I have to ask, what is the differences between Voyager and Leader class Optimus Primes?

I think I'll get a Deluxe Jazz, preferably the G1 styled repaint, but I don't know if we'll see that this side of the Atlantic. G1 styled Starscream is pretty funky too, as is G1 repaint Ratchet (compared to normal movie Ratchet who looks like his name sounds, minus the "Rat") but I may concern myself with getting the Prime and Bumblebee 2-pakc from Argos. BB made me like him in the movie, despite his cheese-factor. And Prime, (even with the flames), is pretty darn cool.
assembling a Neo-G1/TF:TM cast. Please PM if you have (or know of) the following at a reasonable price: Classics or Henkei Astrotrain, Sunstreaker, Sideswipe, or 3rd Party iGear Ratchet and Ironhide.
Also looking for Universe Repugnus and Overbite, Frostbite and Longhorn and any Webdiver toys.

For me it's a toss up between Wreckage and LongArm.

Both are unknowns, but I have pretty much every movie toy now, and those two are my favorites to date.

I love when filler bots surpass the main figs!

Just thought I would chime back in on this, albiet a week delayed.

I went ahead and got Starscream (movie deluxe), he looks great..but my 4 year old saw him and just loves him. I have my Transformers on the top shelf of a book case and he always wants to see him..so I just figured I would cave and give it to him. I also got my son an 08 Bumblebee (when I got mine).

Since I still wanted to get a second fig...I went with the movie leader Optimus, after seeing him at the Wal-Mart by my work. He looks great in the box, out of the box...and next to the movie deluxe Bumblebee, they look perfect together.

I've got my 20th anniv Optimus and I'm planning on getting the Masterpiece Starscream, still...whenever they trickle into Wal-Mart's..
