I'm asking for advice.. I know some of us will have limited funds but is there anything we amy be allowed to do to help them, like run a secret railroad or something??? I feel bad they can't get a general release of U.S. Starscream up there.. :(

this isn't a PM me and I'll get one for you thread, because I don't want the Mods to get upset since we all promised to not do that here on this forum until they find out how to fix the crap that alot of us went through with getting ripped off, this is a request to find out what we can do as a website fandom or fandom as a whole to help our brotheren in the north out...

maybe a petition to Wal-Mart, or a request to Hasbro to produce more for the Wal-Marts in Canada..? They are so close it's kinda rediculous to believe that they need to pay import prices..

Weapon: Null-Ray Rifle
I poked around until I could convince someone to pick one up fo rme. It's coming my way, but yeah...its a huge disappointment that we can't get it up here.

Wow, such narrow mindedness.

What about the UK? Or Australia? Or the rest of the world? ;;)

That's not narrow mindedness, the UK, Australia they can order from the Takara release, and as with most stuff, you guys get exclusives too.. I've seen Hasbro's and takara's European exclusive releases, and not all of them are crap...

But Canada is so close to home, It's kinda disconcerting to know that Wal-Mart isn't shipping any up there.. now mind you if it's a choice of them taking stock from the Wal-Marts we have here in the US to supply up there then I'm against it, but if they over produce and want to ship some up there, then I'm all for that..

Besides the GBP is like double the USD and the Japanese Yen, so I don't have any sympathy for the UK, because even if they have to order it online, they are still getting the Takara one about Half price to what I would have to pay in USD.. so technically they'd be getting the Takara one at about the same price we pay for the US Hasbro version..

as for you guys in Australia... your always screwed on prices!!! :(

The Takara version won't be out till next year. The collector's in the UK will also be ordering the WM version unless they want to wait. I feel bad for everybody, b/c the way it is looking with the hot toy lists, etc- even a Collector's TF will be hard to find.

I'm not sure things like the Commemorative Series and Energon Micromasters count as they were available in other countries (like the US, except the Micromasters had different packaging). Similarly, the movie toys are available elsewhere, they're just packaged differently.

That's not narrow mindedness, the UK, Australia they can order from the Takara release

And Canadians can't? You do realize Takara don't sell Transformers products anywhere outside of Asia? I mostly only order Takara products because Hasbro either don't release them domestically in the UK, take for ever to do so or when they do release them charge twice the price they charge in the US.

skywarp-2 wrote:and as with most stuff, you guys get exclusives too..

Do we? I think the last time we got any exclusives was the early 90's during G1-G2! Since then the US has had many figures released that never made it overseas. If anyone gets more exclusives its the US and Japan not Europe. Most of those 'exclusives' you mentioned above are just packaging variants.

skywarp-2 wrote:Besides the GBP is like double the USD and the Japanese Yen,

Yes and everything is twice the price, do you not understand how economy works or something? Right now I can get 2 dollars to my British pound, this is true, however were as you might pay £5 USD for you McDonalds meal I play £5 GBP, so who's getting the better deal?

skywarp-2 wrote:so I don't have any sympathy for the UK, because even if they have to order it online, they are still getting the Takara one about Half price to what I would have to pay in USD.... so technically they'd be getting the Takara one at about the same price we pay for the US Hasbro version..

Erm.. you really don't get it do you, if we were both to order the Takara version we'd both pay the same regarless of the currency we pay in. Besides your maths is all wrong anyway! Hasbro's MP Starscream is $60 USD at retail yes? That's £30 GBP, and 6,900 Yen. Cheapest I've seen the Takara version is 10,000 Yen that's £42 GBP, and $87 USD so technically we'd all be better of buying the US one. However for those of us not fortunate enough to live in the US Wal-Mart exclusives have a tendency of being snapped up by American eBay scalpers pushing the online price up dramatically! The long and short of it is the US fans, as usual, will be getting it cheaper than anyone else on the planet and unlike the Canadians those of us who live overseas don't have the luxury of being able to pop across the border to pick one up. So forgive me for having no sympathy for the Canadians and taking offense to your above narrow minded poorly conceived badly researched statement.

here is another example of not knowing what your taling about..

If it's released in your country it's going to be released at the price that is comparable to ours in currency.. so for a toy to be 5 dollars here, it will be 5 GBP there, which sucks for you because 5 GBP is 10 dollars here, but that's what you get as a domestic release!! Why would hasbro sell their toys in Your Country for 2.50 GBP?? when it's worth 5GBP, even if it's not the same currency rate, it's what trade is all about..

tell me I don't know economics, you should look into an internship at Oxford in basic world economics!!!

What I meant was simple, that Takara's Release is available through internet shops, which I have found ship them at a fairly decent price.. like HLJ for example..and I was referencing this one instance of the US Masterpiece Starscream...

How do I not understand economics, do you not think before you speak?? pay close attention to the Bold type!!!
That's because those Mc Donalds are in your country, what I'm talking about is your ability to import the toy from takara's version at a fair price.. somewhat comparable to the Hasbro Version...sheesh..

Ok, so you pay what 12 GBP over the 30 GBP it would be to get the USA version.. cry me a river, you know the Takara One will be slightly different and possibly of a better paint application then the US version, which I would have to pay double for what I get here at Wal-Mart in the US, if I import it from Japan..

so your 12 GBP to own a Takara Version, versus paying an eBay scalper..uhhh no brainer, for the UK order from Takara tomy..

Canadians don't have the GBP to fall back on to shield them from the ebay scalpers nor do they have the ability to import from Japan at a cheap rate, as you do because of the GBP being so high..

So for a Canadian ordering off ebay sucks, and ordering from Japan sucks..and not all of them can run accross the border.. I'm being practicle..

Your Being "Smart" :P

I wish I could run across the border to pick up cool stuff :\.

The only thing I've been able to get from a U.S. department store is Voyager IRonhide when my girlfriend went there for a day with her parents.. (haha that was weird, her trying to explain why she is buying a toy for her boyfriend to her parents :P)

and if that makes me bad..

well then so be it..

in this case, the shoe definitely fits!!

These aren't really exclusives, though, as the toys are available in other countries. They're just repackaged.

MP Anime Starscream is a toy that, at the moment, seems to be only available to Japan and the U.S. (I don't yet know if it's coming out in the UK, Australia or anywhere else).

Ok I understand what your saying, but if it's packaged in a different package, and sold in just Europe, and I can't get it here.. then yeah it's an exclusive...not the best, but still an exclusive..

I do believe you guys will eventually see that US Starscream at retail some time down the line.. Hasbro can make a huge amount of money.. my question is did the 20th anniversary prime ever make it to retail awhile back??

Gee whiz, I understand the ideas at least behind nixing Carbombya, but this is just slingin' ideas around to help out other collectors, and people are complaining? Boy. I know, I know, I understand there's rules and stuff, but still.

Oh well, let's kill off this 'help each other out' sentiment and get back to what makes this hobby great in the first place then: Forget everyone else, as long as I get mine, I'm good.

No worries ole Chap!

not a big deal...really, and I don't have hate for Brits by the way, I actually was born one.. But yeah the UK, as of right now, if you import will get a better deal then Canadians or Australians..unfortunately... but Australia is too far away for me to make a difference.. but here in the US, Canada is close by so we can try to brain storm on some way to get them to the masses in the red leafed north..

and also AK, your a good debate opponent too.. ;)^
