Ultra Prime wrote:Impressive. I haven't got the MP-05 Megatron yet. The rust problem I read about makes me a little skiddish on getting him.

Leave it to Dead Metal to have the word 'Pronz' in his signature.

Ultra Prime wrote:Of course I wouldn't transform him much and he'd be essentially a disply piece but I'd be pissed if my investment so to speak started to rust!
Dead Metal wrote:Mine dosen't rust, I have this fealing that it's got something to do with the plug, what I think is that as the ones for the US got plucked one of the companies must have contaminated them by accident. Like a worker not washing his/her hands after dealing with a different thing, ore getting some fluid of some sort on it, ore it's got to do with Taks QC that has been lacking this year as I've been reading.
Alex Kingdom wrote:Mine came un-plugged sealed straight from Japan and has the 'rust' problem. However as with MP Skywarp 'fragility' this 'rust' is greatly exagerated, it's not rust it's a tarnish caused but the fact Takara used a cheaper brass bassed metal rather than diecast for this figure. Is easily removed with a little elbow grease, of you then then clear coat the offending areas you'll never have a problem again. Its not so much Takaras QC that's the problem just the fact they went cheap on the diecast.

I thought I had remembered reading that someone had figured out was only tarnish and not rust. Good lord, how do these things get exaggerated to such epic extremes?

Question...is it possible to break Megatron that easily? I mean like he did?
Am I crazy for spending the money for him?

I can confirm you're theory is incorrect. Mine came un-plugged sealed straight from Japan and has the 'rust' problem. However as with MP Skywarp 'fragility' this 'rust' is greatly exagerated, it's not rust it's a tarnish caused but the fact Takara used a cheaper brass bassed metal rather than diecast for this figure.
