On this project though, it has gone a bit lumpier than usual, but hey, it's Kup and I'm fully hiding behind the fact that his finish SHOULD look like hell.
Here're some updates- as you can see the joints are already chipped to hell. A little devil on my shoulder told me to just Photoshop them, but these aren't my finsished pics anyway.
Enjoy.

That gun is made from a Stormtrooper blaster by the way.
Tentagil- PM me.

I could do you a kick ass paint job for ya for a very good price! ;) (i sound like some terrorist trying to sell a bomb lol)

Seriously, id like to paint this one up for ya. Because as much as i love the figure the paint really hurts it and this could be something so much more special. A bit of sanding down here and there, and i could get you a silky smooth, shiney paint job (or dull if you want).

If you paid for postage i could paint him the proper G1 colors and even add some battle damage if you want as materials cost me nothing. All id want in return would be maybe...well i dont know really, sup to you.

Id have to take him apart though, only where the toy was originally screwed together and where he is actually designed to come to pieces, i wouldnt need to take off any of added styrene or anything just to clarify.

I like the gun i wish i had more spare parts. Im having to use an UZI 9mm hand gun for my bumble bee project. Im gonan try and mod it to look as much like a TF gun as possible though. Better than nothing i guess.

Ok, I'm repainting him. But I'm not going for a strict G1 color scheme. It will be close though, and if it works out how I hope- super stylin'.

Here's an update. He's still not done, but his new finish is on in all it's aqua glory! "Fifties Aqua" as it says on the can. I honestly didn't want the bother of taking him apart to spray him, but I realized that it was really only his car shell that needed to be sprayed, so I just masked him up and had at it.

"Come on Arcee, let's go party!"

Still to come are silver details, head lights, tail lights and I"m still not sure how I'm doing his windshield.
I'm thinking white-walling the tires, but they're so thin, I'm not sure how it will look. As always, input is welcome.

Awesome! His paint is looking much better. White walling the tires will be tricky, and i dont think it would suit the style of his alt more either. I think you should paint his hubcaps silver or chrome though, like a 50's car always had loads of chrome.

I might do one of these myself now i think about it...looks like fun but i will need that back pack. Could you by any chance tell me how you made it?

Oh and i think the windshield would look good painted a dark blue with a few white streaks through it. That should simulate a cartoony glass look.

For the windshield, try the plastic blister one of your figs came in. Paint or tint one side a different blue and glue the painted side down. Next, use a trim on the bottom and sides to make it look set in to the vehicle (see pic.)

By the way, while I do like the new color, I still prefer the old one.

Thats a good idea, it'll make one side literally look like smooth glass.

Tasty - I'm really liking the new colours. Definitely backing the idea with the blister, though, if it's not too late. If it is, then I'd recommend either scribing a 'panel line' to delineate the window, or add some trim to do the same, and just paint the window a different colour.

Thanks for the compliments everyone. I think I'm going to just paint on the window, but my other idea was to use adhesive chrome leaf.
His paint is actually a lot more vibrant than the pictures show. I'm going to tweak the pics a bit to make them more accurate.
Sonray, you askes about that hinge a while back. Any large hardware store should have a section of little hinges. As for how I made it- I'll post a diagram tonight.

Oh i can find hinges easily now, even special ones made for models. :P

Great i cant wait to see how you built the back pack. Im seriously considering doing one of these myself now so i can re-create kup and hotrod scenes from the movie! ^_^

Looking good. It's really hard to imagine that it used to be a classsics Rodimus. Such a difference.

Actually if you look it makes perfect sense. Take a look at your classics rodimus then transform him. You will find that during the early transformation process, rodimus already looks alot like Kup in alt mode.

I know alot of people who thought he looked like Kup, but for some reason this is the first time ive seen anyone actually make the whole thing into a real Kup.

I'm still not done yet, but I have some progress to show.
I finally got out to my hobbby shop to pick up some "Bare Metal" adhesive chrome foil. If you've never used it I recommend it highly. It's expensive ($7.95 a sheet!), but it's worth it if you want to make something really shiny.

"It's called Detailing" kid.

Here we see Kup and Hotrod exploring the Bedroom region of Quintessa.

I bet you thought that I'd forgotten about this, but as promised, here's how to make your own backpack.

With the pieces in place fill the inside with hot glue where needed. Don't use the hot glue gun at full heat or it will warp the plastic. Unplug it and use it after it's cooled slightly. Once it's solid, sand the edges.
Or send me a bunch of money. :)

Wow...well thats that idea of making my own based on your diagram out of the question! Could you BE any more vague?! :P

How much would you want to make a back pack then? Take into consideration that all i would want are the pieces cut and ready to glue together (with a slightly lees vague diagram on what parts to glue where), as i can put it all together and sand and paint and do all that myself.

The chrome on kup looks great, and your last pic of him and hotrod together is the main reason why i now want to make one too as kup and hotrod are two of my fave characters.

I thought that it was rather informative, personally.
I'm going to see if I can replicate it, and then I'll set a price. If I'm feeling really nasty, I might show my Carbomian roots and auction it.
