Thundercracker is easy. Just do a repaint of Starscream. You'll get an even better result than Botcon version.

I've got to say...I don't think so.

I've seen like, one repainted Starscream as Thundercracker.

It's a really hard thing to do. The way parts move on Starscream ensures that any custom repaints will not be able to transform. Also, the one custom 'cracker I saw was certainly not as nice as the BotCon one.

This bad-boy is gorgeous. If you missed out, save your pennies. He's worth every one it'll take to get him.

i agree with CP wholeheartedly, the way SS transforms, a repaint of TC will eventually be hard to transform properly, unless you DO plan on retouching it every now and then.

case in point: take a look at BC TC's thighs. these have been molded into plastic blue. now, if you do a straight repaint of SS, the blue paint will add a thin layer to the thighs, thus making getting it in and out of the leg/thruster assembly difficult. the paint will also scratch and chip. same applies to all moving parts.

for all the time and effort in making and maintaining a custom TC, you're better off saving up and buying/bidding a BC version. (though i myself have no plans on doing so, unless i get uber-rich that is)

It's actually not that big of a deal doing a repaint. For any areas where pieces might rub against each other, you can take a good hobby knife, scrape a few thin layers of plastic off and the pieces will be fine for painting over. It takes about 30 seconds to scrape the area.

I did this a lot on some of my older Gundam kits where elbow joints would be rubbing against the inside of the forearm armour and never had a problem with the paint chipping or weaking the parts.

With all respect to the hardened collectors...

200 dollars for a blue Starscream is just a Bit high in my book. I can Pay someone to repaint him for that much. Hell I could probably get someone to All the seekers for that much. The horrific collectors market we have (We ARE speaking about toys that have a 2,000 percent mark up) makes it really the only appealing option.

On the plus side, I suppose its possible that after next years Botcon we could have a windfall for this years set, as I had when acquiring my choice units from the Descent Into Evil box set...I wouldn't hold my breath though.

Have someone repaint yours, or do it yourself. Paint the thing with clear nail polish, and the paint will NEVER scrape off.

Now, on the subject of the toys this discussion is about. I held off on Megatron precisely because of his horrible color scheme. If Japan decides to improve the job, he shall be on my hit list :)
