Classics Prime with an Ax?

Postby Chevy_Ironhide » Mon Mar 10, 2008 3:24 pm

Do you guys think Classics Prime could use an Axe like he had in G1? I ordered one last night and I'm thinking of somehow adding an ax to him. I think he needs an as as well as a trailer, now that's a complete Prime!

Well, He can hold Strongarm's Energon Axe.
But replacing his entire fist with an Axe that would be a bit more difficult.

He should have done - it could have plugged in instead of a fist. I think Movie Prime should have come with a gun and an sword. If you can add and attachable sword to Classics Prime (rather than giving him one to hold) I think it'd be great.

The axe would be cool to add, But i never liked prime with a trailer. I always thought it was weird that when he transformed his trailer just went off somewhere. I never kept the trailer on him as a kid.

I'm personally more inclined to give my TF's beam sabers, but Classsics Prime could totally rock an axe.

The easy option would be to have him hold an axe, less work and lots of fun. I gave mine the axe from a 1/144 Zaku I had lying around after I used some putty to make the axe blade more impressive looking.

A more complicated method (that wouldn't require taking him apart) would be to get some modeling putty (I've found the blue and yellow putty, aka 'green stuff' works great) and make a kind of cover for his fist (loosely cuz you'll want to be able to remove it). Possibly starting with some kinda peg in his hand as a base. Once you've got the cover finished, use some more putty to attach the axe however you'd like, wait for it to dry (couple days), then paint and enjoy!

I'm giving my Classics Gundam weapons too. The lead Constructicon has a GMs Beam Spray Pistol, Cybertron Metroplex is getting the cannon for a 1/100 Strike Launcher, Optimus I might give a beam ax from a 1/144 Zaku and the rest are gonna use various gundam beam pistols and Energon Spears, Axes and Swords from Transformers Energon.

Here's a model with the beam ax I wanna give Prime:

I always imagined he could spin around after speeding into battle, Transform and let his trailer slam into an enemy or something like that. I wanna think in G1 the best explanation was that his trailer shrunk down and became that little gray box that ran down his back.

I always thought the shrinking thing was stupid. If they can grow why not grow REALLY big and do some stomping? Look at Broadside - grows from a small jet to a plane carrier. If he didn't shrink he'd be huge. Plus, from a physics point of view it's ridiculous.

Unfortunately due to the way the truck front halves wrap around the arm, this isn't that good. You end up with a long unsightly flap (truck front), and the fist doesn't really tuck in, it folds down, so it ends up looking really weird.

I think Overcracker is right, it's a bit odd. You can't fold the flaps out of the way as effectively as when the hand is out but here are the variations I've come up with.

Thank you that's what I meant. I did however not find it too bad with the arm rotated 180's degrees so the elbow is backwards, it still folds up, but it allows you to fold the truck front flap a little closer to the arm. Still not as good as one would have hoped.

lol I'm glad you didn't. It was already at my max bid :p

I'm just in it for the chain weapons mostly, wanted to give Classics Megatron something to swing around. The bazookas will go CJ if he can hold them and the sword to good ol Grimlock if he can wield it.

I picked up a dollar store KO prime for his gun and axe.

Both are meant to be held, there is no way to replace the hand, but it works. And the gun is a perfect G1 style gun. I repainted it black and it looks great. I may or may not use the axe for him
