Got to Best Buy at 9:50 AM this morning hoping to snag one of each of the metallic repaints. About 20 people were waiting outside with me before the store opened. It was funny to see each and every one of those people (mostly middle-aged adults) literally run for the Transformers DVD display as soon as the door opened. Can't believe this craze!

Anyway, it turned out that not one person left the store with any of the Ratchets or Megatrons -- because there WEREN'T any! Talked to one salesperson who said they haven't received any yet. Talked to another who said they received only FOUR figures total and that they already sold out. I heard at least two or three angry customers asking why Best Buy advertised the toy (and the $5 combined purchase discount), but didn't have any in stock when the store opened on the first date of sale. Pretty bad considering my Best Buy is one of the larger ones and serves A LOT of customer volume (San Francisco Bay Area).

Since there weren't any when the store opened, I'm assuming that Best Buy either sold them before the Tuesday DVD release or some lucky Best Buy employees snagged them before they ever hit the store shelves. Had the salesperson call another local Best Buy to check for availability, but that one was out of stock too. The salesperson also said they probably won't receive any more. Hope they're wrong.

Going to try to do what someone else mentioned and see if I can actually place a prepaid order for them. I don't know about that one though... the employees at my Best Buy don't seem to be well-trained, so I don't have confidence that they'd actually place an order specifically for me. This isn't the first time that Best Buy hasn't had something they advertised for sale on the first day. This one is the most disappointing though...

SIGH...same song and dance here too.
Went to the BB by my house...NO shipment of figs whatsoever.
Drove 20 min down the freeway to the next nearest BB I knew of; sold out w/i minutes of opening (all SIX figs).

Many people were SOOOOO pissed including me that there were so few. I'm surprised I even got one, but I was very disappointed in BB and Hasbro for not having a larger abundance of them for the special release. Now I have to look around to find Rachet. Gah...

BAD BAD..... But Megatron is AMAZING. LOVE this voyager toy. If only they had done that to the regular one they would be selling better, haha!

Man! That must be quite a scene, and pretty awkward too. Really no idea why this time around, the TF toys distribution is so screwed up in so many ways. Having just 4 toys in store and runs a nationwide ad is just not a very smart thing to do. Good that I am not attracted to these that I want to buy one, but I kind of feel the pain for you guys that got disappointed by this kind of mess...again.

they had a total of 15 to 20 when i WENT!!! BUT THEY WERE DOWN TO 11 WHEN I LEF T THE STORE, AND THAT WAS AT 4:45pm...

This is gotta be the first time that Best Buy has had a line outside, and it wasn't for a new game system!

I'm wondering if they may ask for more exclusives considering their popularity.

The best buy near me had about 15 of each when I went there at 5:30 PM central.

I got one each earlier today. I took a 15 min break to drive to the BB near work around 10. The store actually opened late and there was sort of a line when i got there. But I found out that I was the only one who's going for the figures (oh well). The store has 20 figures and they put a dozen out on top of TF DVDs near entrance this morning. Quickly picked up one each and drove back to work.

Happened into a Best Buy looking for a tripod this afternoon and they had a ton of th metallic figures. Ratchet was better than before, but the Megatron looked phenomenal. If they do the Leader sized one in that style I'll probably buy it.

Okay, what gives??!! Did Best Buy/Hasbro start the distribution of these things on the east coast and they started running out of figures by the time they hit the west coast? Maybe they had trouble driving those trucks past the Rocky Mountains???

Only 2 out of the 4 best buys in my area got them in. But only 2 Ratchets in one store and 2 megatrons in the other. I was lucky to get one of each.

I did expect this because someone posted the SKU and I called all four BB's Yesterday and asked them to look it up and they both said only 2 are expected - they couldn't tell me which ones though.

I asked them to look up the SKU again today and they aren't expecting any more as of now. They said that they may be considered "Blind" shipments (I didn't know what that meant) and they explained that they may get some more in but they will never know through their inventory system. Wierd.

odd...according to my wife, the store she went to had over twenty figures. I wouldn't consider either of the two best buys here large...

I am very fortunate that I was able to snag one of each this morning. The nearest BB to my house had about a dozen figures total and no one else had picked any up by the time I was at the checkouts. I was the first person in the store and grabbed the movie and the exclusives and went back by the games for about 10 minutes. I noticed that the paint on Megs was a little messed up so I went back up front get a different one and they were all still there.

After reading a few threads here I started to feel very lucky. I got the movie, the figures, and my Soundwave & Magnus/Skywarp 2pk came this afternoon. On the downside though, a $120 fish decided to jump out of my tank while I was gone.

I guess I got lucky. I went to BB just before lunch and found a set and at least ten more sets just waiting to be bought.

I'm sure they're gone by now, though.

Anyways, I honestly feel a certain amount of satisfaction for my purchases of the Super Metallic Finish, Best Buy exclusives, or the Now Know as "Transformers Movie Premium Line" I am absolutely astonished at how wonderful and great these figures look!! MY one request is to get a Metallic OPtimus Prime Protofrom, with silver coloring.. and maybe a certain amount of scorch marking in dark gun metals and charcoal, But like I mentioned earlier I was in Best Buy and the lady i was talking to mention Optimus Prime and another Metallic exclusive, I totally heard her say something to me, it was an Autobot I think.. but I was using, what my girl calls, my Man hearing..it's like an automatic response to a woman who just starts talking to me..

Damnit!!! Why did evolution give this skill...

I heard Optimus Prime, and the rest kinda fell off my radar...darnit!!

I hope it's a metallic leader class, i would buy that, more likely it's a new metallic Voyager class that will be darker, but shiny like ratchet, and oh, the Metallic ratchet rules as well.. he looks like a real metal truck and robot now!!

Yes, you are right. I'm sorry. When I was writing that, I wasn't referring or thinking of anyone here. I was thinking of some of those going to scalpers. Either way, I didn't mean to hurt anyone's feelings. Frustrating day today. Oh well, at least I got the 2 disc movie.

this is why i only collect MP, Ultimate editions and G1. Theses metallics look cool, but not worth the hassle. Target had the best deal pound for pound I got the 2 disc special w/transforming case + comic, Evol. of a hero BB, and tranforming $5 gift card for $40 +tax. Split up, that 6 items for $40 and I can use the giftcard whenever i want.

I snuck out of work during my break so I could hit up a Best Buy(here in San Diego). There weren't very many people waiting outside, probably around 15 or so. I thought I was lucky enough to get there five mins before the doors opened because I actually didn't know the store hours. However, I wasn't lucky enough to get me a figure. There were only two Megatrons and two Ratchets, and they were gone in less than 30 seconds! Two guys beat me to them. I was the third person to get to that display of DVD's where those figures were sitting on and came out there with none! For that Best Buy store to carry just two of each is absolutely ridiculous. I did get the exclusive DVD and a lithograph, but still. I bet some of the employees are saving some for themselves or their friends. I wonder if there will be any more shipments. From the way the sales rep sounded, that was it though. He said they were "very limited". It's very upsetting to read that other Best Buys had more than 10 of each. I guess it's a lot harder to obtain this kind of stuff in California.

I doubt that. Why would Best Buy opt to sell less toys and make less profit? Not to mention clutter up stock room space. I guess we'll see.

I have honestly never been as pissed at a store as I was today, and I am not an angry person. There were other options for the movie (shirts, beanies, hats, even better prices), and their bogus toy offer was the reason I chose them. I honestly don't know why I am mad, probably cause I have always been a fan of Best Buy as a store, owning their stock in the past, and this was just disapointing. I feel it was just a trick to get us to buy the hottest DVD of the year there, and is (atleast boarderline) in violation of the BBB Code of Advertising (Section 7-F specifically). Other items in the advertisement state possible limited supply, with nothing being said about the figures. It is pretty dang frustrating.
