Wow, what kind of postal service does North America have? I sent everything from letters to small packages (still send as letters) across the globe, it never took a month. With the prices they are taking, I'd expect the shipping to be faster (more along the lines of two weeks or so).

This is very much my point. If you pay over the odds cuase your in a different country, you expect the service to come up to the standards you are paying for.

They dont apear to do that.

oh wow!!! you mean someone actually has the nerve to charge people to see images of a medium that they DON'T have the rights to? And they gripe that someone else used them? They don't deserve respect IMHO!!!!

Interesting discussion... what about the animated Toy of Starscream and that guy's blurb about taking it down..doesn't this fall into that category is this different because the license of the images is held by TFCC versus just a guy snapping shots of an early Starscream Animated Prototype??

It is a huge problem, I feel ripped off because of it. The club is really only useful if you are going to go to Botcon OR you are a US citizen. Otherwise it's a complete waste of money.

That guy was just an ass that felt priveledged because he probably paid an exhorbitent amount of money for a figure that will be 10 dollars in 6 months.

Its pretty asinine and petty to pull down the pics. I mean, their little site/mag is already catering to a fringe group at best (TF collectors), and to limit potential traffic to their dumb site by pulling down an image is stupid on their part. Any thought about paying some fee to join a club and be able to see pics of a show that will be on the tv in a few months is now out the window. Good job idiots.

Perhaps, but it is less of a waste for US citizens than it is Canadians or people from other parts of the world.

I'm finding this discussion rather helpful, actually, as I've been tempted to become a member of the club. But seeing as how I don't plan on going to Botcon and the club exclusives are way out of my price range even with the discount (seriously, $90 for an Astrotrain without a train mode? pass), I'm not sure it would be worth it except to get the annual figure. Besides, given that I'm a fairly new collector, there's a pretty good chance that that figure won't mean a thing to me.

Anyway, I'm sure the picture will eventually make it back to the Internet in a month or so, but it's really not that much different from what we've seen before. It's basically the same red, black, and white Megatron from the Animated preview, only from a side view and aiming forward so you can get a better look at his fusion cannon. Difficult to really make out the face, but the shape of the helmet looked vaguely G1-ish.

I'm not terribly sure why people who didn't like it before are suddenly on board as a result of this image.

I was just curious because my post above his was about the optimuswhatever guy that put up pics of a prototype and bitched that people linked to them. I was thinking he may be the same person and was upsedt that I said something bout him. Curiousity is all it really is.

waaaaghlord wrote:Redimus, I'm a UK based member but havn't had a lot of use out of the club store as yet. Basics of what you need to know are that international membership is $89 per year as opposed to the $40 for basic domestic US membership. For that you get the six mags and six master collectors, the next annual member figure, access to the club forum and club rates at the club store. FunPub's international shipping rates seem quite steep from what little I've had from them so far and they ship items along with a listed invoice copy so expect UK customs to bang VAT onto that before you receive a package. The way that this worked with my GoD set was that customs released the package to Parcel Force who then invoiced me for the VAT and an extra £8 for a PF handling charge. The other thing to note is that if you're ordering the Botcon toys you essentially pay the same price for the non attending package as the attending package but without a convention to go to or the extra attendee figure, although US based members opting for the non attendee package are in the same boat with this one.

I'm planning to keep my membership going at least as long as the E combiner repaints are being released as the member figures and probably beyond that if the rate with which they release other exclusives starts to pick up. It's not cheap for the international package but properly supported the club can grow into a fantastic resource and I like to feel that I'm doing my bit to support it, whether I ever end up travelling Stateside for a Botcon or not.

And for all those reasons, I have never had a real urge to join (barring the Seacon re-releases). Now the Aussie Dollar is almost on par with the Greenback, It's a tad nicer, but their shipping prices are extortion.
Awesomesauce; Use it, you know you want to.
