I see code for the council bulletins, but I don't have a corresponding database table to go with it. I could rebuild the council bulletin if I wanted to, but if it used to work, I'd rather see if I could find an old copy of the HMW database that had the old bulletins in it rather than just creating new ones. Point me in the right direction my friends!

As much as I'd love to have an answer for you, any functionality involving faction councils took place before my time here.

Thank you, again, for your diligence in working through the code. I can only imagine the things you're finding there.

I've only ever seen it used once, and that was after a tourney Glyph ran in 2004-5(ish). He sent a message from Megatron ordering us to hunt the bot winner of the 0-3 bracket, (Deadboy aka Rat Convoy in case anyone was wondering.) It was awesome.
Incidentally, the missions written for that tourney are active again, the ones themed around Christmas.
I have no idea why I remember all this crap.
Since then though, nothing. OS couldn't use it and Mkall wasn't able to work out how to fix it when he tried.
Getting that active would be a huge step, and having the HMW news there already makes it look a ton better.
Edit:One bit of feedback about the news bulettins though, could we have a link to read earlier ones at the bottom please? It currently only lists the most recent 5. Thank you!
(I'm hoping to find one not written by me lol)

I added a link to previous news stories, which are all in the regular news section.
Might want to change your group's name though. Not a fan of having the word "porn" in the news section!

I'll abbreviate it in future.

Currently, I'm working on getting the bulletins back up and running after I found a backup of the table structure, which I'm completely changing. There will be big improvements made to the bulletins to allow 1 to many relationships for bulletins and factions, with the ability to have a "all factions" override instead of having a bulletin be faction specific.
One thing I don't understand was this "post type" option. Each post could be flagged as one of the following:
Specifically, I don't understand the "Out of character" option. Do you think this was for messages directed at players instead of sounding like a message that would be "in game" (i.e. a message from Megatron to his troops)?
My "is_global" flag will take care of the "all factions" flag, and we'll have checkboxes for each faction that the message should display for. Just need to figure out the "out of character" flag.

Yeah, that would have been a glyph update to it that caused that, 'out of character' is a role-playing term for meta posts about the game mechanics, whereas the faction ones would have been written as if by characters themselves.

The OOC (out of character) tags usually belong to the rpg side of things. Some of us do enjoy a little roleplay using the tourney threads we have had. Glad to have the faction bulletin back. I been missing it.

HMW Bulletins work once again after all of these years (though every field of the database I found for them was changed, and the code to make bulletins work was rewritten from scratch and an all-new admin section was built to manage the bulletins). New faction specific bulletins should be added soon!
