So Amelie - or anyone -- no chance of a Wheeljack re-issue??? Or is that completely f&$*%^#??

It probably won't seeing as it's Takara/Encore.

There's been no sign of the reissue Sixshot we were supposed to be getting (the only one on that leaked list that didn't get released if I'm correct), the Dinobot giftset seems to just have been a (cruel for some, hilarious for others   joke) and the rumoured G1 Ultra Magnus release hasn't happened either - surely in the 2010 line would have been the time.

What do you think? Will we get another entire line of G1 (or G2/BW) reissues like Encore or will reissues maybe move down the pecking order of releases and be only once or twice a year in the future? :-?

i dont' understand the obsession with G1 reissues. WHy not just by the vintage ones on ebay? If you spend the time and wait patiently a nice and respectably minty version always comes up.
Not to start a fight or anything.

I'm just a nostalgic sorta guy and vintage is always my choice above and beyond a reissue.

I have a great G1 collection due to being diligent and patient.
Am i alone on this one?

Plus i'm a thrifty fella to boot (as in that ebay prices can be extravigant to say the least ) and have gotten some really great deals for the same reasons stated above.

for example i bought a beautifull Sixshot on Ebay for 20 bucks a couple years ago. I spent some time hunting and watching but i got em! I like hunting online now i guess more than going from store to store burning gas or waiting for an official release. That's the way i hunt these days and get what i want.

Well Blurzz, you're certainly sticking to this story - it must have been over 6 months since the Dinobot rumour first came up.

Because that works for YOU. I much prefer reissues to vintage. I keep my collection as close to pristine OOP condition as I'm able. It's easier to avoid disappointment buying factory fresh items than it is buying vintage. Stuff that has had 20 plus years to be abused, mishandled or misrepresented the seller. Everyone has their thing. I've got some fantastic older stuff myself but the effort to get it that way can be maddening.

In my case, I used to do the exact same as you - I spent hours searching on Ebay and negotiating with sellers to get the best deal. I had some great success in getting a 100% & mint G1 Shockwave but failure when the G1 Devastator I bought was loose and wouldn't stay combined.

I gave up because I much prefer getting MISB figures, it's just not the same buzz when it's loose and has accessories missing/perhaps condition not mint etc.

When G1 toys came out I was barely in kindergarten. Although my big bro had a good collection which I could play with, I wasn't able to buy TFs myself (with birthday, christmas or saved pocket money) until well after G1 was over.

So the chance to be able to go and buy MISB G1 toys is fantastic for me, it also gives me a limit.
If I was to collect G1 toys on Ebay then I would be looking at collecting a huge number of toys that I can't justify the cash for or have the space to store.

Only collecting reissues gives me this healthy limit as I'm only buying them a few times a year and only getting MISB, 100% complete Transformers. Yes, it means missing out on some of my favourite characters who will never be reissued but financially it's the way to go and I enjoy getting the figures more as because they're spaced out through the year.

I'm not criticizing your preferred way of collecting at all by the way, Ebay (and now Crave too) give collectors a chance to get figures they would have no other way of getting so most collectors go the Ebay way.
I had a lot of fun searching Ebay but for me the reissues are a better way to go.

Flux Convoy you and I are definitely the same kind of G1 collector. Let's hope they announce a new Encore line towards the end of the year after DOTM.

I like re-issues a lot too, but we mustn't forget that G1 vintage have more die-cast metal. Longer lasting & sturdier than plastic. You just have to find G1 kept in nice condition.

You'd be wrong to assume that reissues don't also have die cast as well. The reissues I have, have the same amount as their vintage counterparts would.

I'm not saying they don't have it. But I know that Hasbro cheaps out & sneaks plastic into some of them. The Insecticon reissues --they didn't seem like they had as much diecast as vintage. Maybe they did, but they felt lighter to me.
Out of curiosity since I recently acquired him - does the re-issue Tracks have as much diecast as the OG??

Well fair enough to those who love the re issues. I won't argue with ya.

For me....i just like vintage. That's what does it for me i guess. I like stuff that is old and has weathered the test of time and has come out unscathed. There's a charm in that fact and it makes me appreciate the figure even more. I have pride in that my collection is 100% vintage.

My style of collecting has more of a curator approach to it for the most part. I know it's just a piece of plastic and metal but it has a cultural significance and a history.

I guess i'm a bit of a romantic in those regards. I do the same thing with vintage cars and motorbikes.

The Insecticons have the same amount. As for heft. I couldn't say. My G1 figures are long gone. I can't imagine they're any different. Tracks only had metal in his legs. The reissue is the same.

So which re-issues DID skimp out on the metal?? Looks like none of the ones I mentioned had what I suspected.

Bruticus doesn't have the metal in the reissue. The only other thing I can think of is the rare G1 Prime trailer that had metal plates in it. I don't think any of the reissues have that. That's a rarity to begin with anyway.

For me, I only pick up Reissues that are identical to the vintage. I'm not a fan of reissues that have major or minor alteration whether just new color on the eye e.g. Inferno, different shade of colors or material e.g. Encore Bruticus, or slight change to the mold e.g. Omega Supreme face.

For this reason, I'm not a fan of the Encore line. I prefer the 1st reissue.

As a result, I usually pick up the vintage one from ebay especially misb if the price isn't that skyrocket.

I don't like it when they make changes from the original either. I would have preferred Predaking to have ha yellow parts instead of the gold they used.

I'm the reverse of Remy. I prefer a figure to have differences between the reissue and the original. Good examples of this

- TFC Starscream. Anime colours, and a Megatron pistol accessory.
- Reissues of Jazz have a stronger waist.
- 25th Aniversary Optimus Prime. Yes, the QC is questionable, but the colour sceme is nice.
- TFC Stepper\Ricochet. More accessories.

An especially bad example of this
- Reissue Galvatron. Pink.

Ii think Hasbro has said they are all still good.for instance they wanted to reissue Fort Max in the mid 2000s but he failed the drop test.other than that we would have seen him.

My understanding is that the mold is fine having been used again for the Car Robots Brave Maximus. How viable/profitable such a large toy would be to the re-issue market is another matter.

To be honest, if the mold is fine (no recasting massively lowers the costs), and the toy is produced to limited, defined quanities and delivered at the right price, Hasbro should have no problems earning a healthy (but not excessive\massive) profit from a Fortress Maximus release. Similar to how a Masterpiece release has been handled in the past.

Or - they could've incorporated Fortress Maximus into a new series, making him desirable for the kids (you know - the ones that make nearly all the profit from the sale of toys)

It's all conjecture anyways - its not and never is happening. If it does, it'll be Takara, and you'll have to pay out the arse for it regardless.

It wasnt a G1 Fort Max reissue they wanted to release.

they wanted to replease RID Fort Max.same toy mold but a few less extras.
