All I know is if Rodimus/Hot Rod makes the final cut Judd Nelson better be putting the vocals behind him! Who's with me?? Huh?...am I the only one with his hand up...hmmmm...awkward.

My view is pretty much the same as Sonray's and AK's.

I see him being named Roddimus but one of the human characters like Sam or Mikaela nicknaming him Hot Rod. like an homage to his orginal name, but that would not be his offical name Roddimus would.

Also why can't they call him Hot Rod anymore I've been wondering about that for a while?

The name is being used by Hot Rod magazine,a magazine about automobiles.....and since he would Transform into an automobile they would claim its a trademark infringment.

If they do his character right it could be pretty sweet. Like someone else mentioned IDW seems to be doing his character right. His Spotlight and when shows up in Escalation are good examples of getting his hot-headed nature out w/o being a total punk.

Or they could go the way of Energon and make him some bad-ass renegade Autobot unit commander.

i would bet money on Hot rod being a Ford GT. Simply
becuase the American Car companies want the rights, Ford now
wants to be in on the sequel.

this is ok seeing how alot of Japanses people want American cars, as a lot of Americans want JDM cars.
a GT40 will be the fastest American car they can use, and Hot Rod has to be redicoulousy fast. cant be the corvette, unless they wanna step all over Tracks's history.

or he could simply be a Cybertronian Race car like his G1 form, and maybe get another form later. Personally id rather See Hot Rd picking chicks up then BumbleBees quiet emo ass.

Hot Rod/Rodimus is overdone and overused.

Give me a character who I don't see a new toy of every two weeks...

One thing that gets me,Isn't hot rod a carbon copy of Bumblebee?I mean it would seem more fitting that the young warrior thats been with Prime since the beginning,Succeed him

Well, in G1 I always thought that it would be more fitting if Prowl, Jazz, Ironhide, Kup or Ultra Magnus succeeded Optimus Prime, but I don't think Hot Rod becoming Prime was about expectation or qualification. It was about being chosen.

As the movie isn't G1, they could totally redo Hot Rod. They could make him more reckless or give him a G1 Sunstreaker-esque personality.

hmm... I think a few on page two were on to something regarding pulling in non G1 names to draw more non G1 cor fans and express this is not G1.

note: I am one of those G1 fans

Here is the deal. If they can't legally market a toy with the name Hotrod, I'ld rather they either stick to Rodimus, the non Primed variety, or use the name Hotshot as previously suggested. It would also give Bay freedom to draw from a larger character pool.

Pulling beloved, and memorable, casts from the other TF series and Bayform them could let the movie brand develope with bold new possibilities.

I'ld rather not see a flood of red cars, or yellow cars, hense why the lambo twins will never go beyond a cameo at best. Last I count bumblebee and ratchet make two yellows. This Hotrod/Hotshot/Rodimus wont sit well with Prime's flames, Bumble's yellow coating, or with more red than Optimus. Hotshot blue might work, but that doesn't sound too... hot.

I find it hard for Bay to want to bring in this character,with iconicly G1 appearance, after his blueflame changes to the 1st Prime and Bumblebee being as a sports car.

Fine, put in Hot Rod- but if you kill of Optimus and make Hot Rod rodimus prime, i shall become more annoyed than you can possible imagine.

I agree that yellow/red cars are being overused.

think it might be great be intersting to see the transformers interact with a younger transformer compared to bumblebee hotrod is younger than bumblebee all together hes more like a hothead who makes his actions first then think about what hes done later after his actions
