These modern toys with their ties and such, bah, untying the plastic ones tended to shred my fingertips if I opened too many figures at once. At least the stupid paper ones are super easy to cut through with the mini scissors on my pocket knife.
And I too know the pain of thinking all those clear "rubber" bands are removed, only to come across more while transforming. It's a conspiracy!

Aren't those what they used in G2? I hated those, you practically needed a chainsaw to open them.
