Why? Why!!!??? I hate you! I hate all of you twisty tie bastards!

Has anyone else hate those twisty things they put on the TF packages? It always takes me forever to get a TF out of the package! It's annoying and I hate them. I can understand putting them there, but why in such ridiculous ways? They twist them then tie them into 17 different knots! It takes me longer to get the figs out of the package than it does for me to transform them!

Nail clipper to paper ties.

Wire cutter for plastic ties.

It's really not that hard to get them out of the box. I've been cutting the wires to get them out since Armada.

I only cut them if there a character I know I'm not returning. (which is most) but if there is a character I am debating about, I take it all out slowly and untie the backs the long way. They do suck.

But lately these ties are on like everything. My daughters toys even. And just when you think you've cut all the ties, there's another one in hiding.

My mom keeps a knife in her purse...that's normally what I use if I do cut them. But IDK. It's easier to cut them but I usually don't.

the plastic ties I found easier to un-twist.

the newer twist ties are harder to un-tie because their in knots & not twist like the old twist ties.

I use a scissor to un-knot the new style twist ties.

I liked the old plastic style twist ties. because they were also easier to re-seal toys back inside the box.

I hate the extent to which they secure the ties. I also hate the new ties they've been using.

But I f***ing love the old bendy ties.

I like the newer paper ties, they aren't tied as tight and can be easily undone. Don't need to find the elusive nail clippers as often, meaning I can actually get in out of the package before I leave the store. :D

been cutting them for a long time. like the new paper ones because they're a lot easier to cut, and have more give in them. With the plastic ones sometimes they were so tightly bound that I feared damaging the toy trying to wedge the scissors into a place to cut the tie.

what bugs me more is the little invisible rubber bands they use sometimes. I've had more than one toy end up a little deformed by these things pulling on soft plastic, and also had a few times where I've been mid-transformation by the time I've realised there's still one there!
assembling a Neo-G1/TF:TM cast. Please PM if you have (or know of) the following at a reasonable price: Classics or Henkei Astrotrain, Sunstreaker, Sideswipe, or 3rd Party iGear Ratchet and Ironhide.
Also looking for Universe Repugnus and Overbite, Frostbite and Longhorn and any Webdiver toys.

i like the plastic ones cos theyre easier to do without scissors, and normally i cba to get scissors.:P

but yup i agree wit' ya craggy about dem rubber bands, theyre basically to make a fig's kibble stay in place and thus make it look better.
the only use i have come up with for them is locking mechtechs out but even that they fail at...>:(

Yup, that's happened to me!

I preferred the old wire/plastic ties cos at least I could use them in kitbashing eg Barricade.

There was one time when I was trying to get a fig out and no matter what I did, I couldn't get the damn thing untied. Was getting pretty pissed too. Ended up having to cut the tie to get the fig out. There are times when the ties get in knots and those are the ones that tick me off the most.
Long live the Decepticons!! I love G1 Starscream!!

Don't tell Starscream, but I'm in love with movieverse Ironhide! ;)

The paper ties are brilliant. They're easier to cut and less of a pain in the ass overall.

Plus, the more environmentally-friendly than the plastic ties (though that's really somewhat of a moot point when you consider the amount of plastic that went into the figure itself, but a little is better than none at all).

I may be one of the few who loves the twisty ties. I always carefully untwist them then toss them in a drawer for future use. Also, if you've got enough of them, you can twist them all up and make yourself a "Driller" for Shockwave to ride  .

I dis-like the newer twist ties for the MAIN REASON. That the material used feels like wet cotton's balls/swabs & makes that annoying friction feel on the fingers when you try to un-knot the newer twist ties.

I miss the days when smaller toys just came in a bubble and big ones came in nice styrofoam trays.

These modern toys with their ties and such, bah, untying the plastic ones tended to shred my fingertips if I opened too many figures at once. At least the stupid paper ones are super easy to cut through with the mini scissors on my pocket knife.

And I too know the pain of thinking all those clear "rubber" bands are removed, only to come across more while transforming. It's a conspiracy!
