Blaster - seriously, you really think that mold is the best option and only hope for a Blaster repaint? Better nothing at all than this.

As for Devastator. The day will come when they bring back modern, updated gestalts. Mark my words.

Hmm, oh well.

well, apparently I'll have no trouble finding this figure since everyone seems to hate him so..

I dunno how you people can live with such low, low expectations.

Energon was an age ago. We've had Alternators, we've had classics, we've had movie-formers. How anyone of discriminating tastes can accept this Cybertron Blaster repaint with enthusiasm is beyond me.

Many reasons.

I for one was never able to get (or if I recall correctly even find) Cybertron Soundwave. Second, I just really don’t even see the big deal here, it’s a repaint, SO?!?! First, when was the last time we even got a figure that was a homage, let alone based off Blaster? It wasn’t recent, that’s for sure. Heck, did we even get a G2 Blaster? Second, Blaster was never that important, at least to me.

Alternators arrived at the same time as Energon, which by the way, was 2004. These toys were released less than four years ago. Cybertron came out in late 2005. Classics don't reveal any great upgrade to the toy tech.

As a person and collector of discriminating tastes and more importantly as someone who owns every toy released in the past 6 years, I feel I am well qualified to speak on the subject of whether or not a toy is of quality.

Cybertron Blaster will go with my Cybertron toys. It's as simple as that. The mold is not perfect, but it is damn cool enough that I bought the Soundblaster repaint for $65. Why not Blaster for a mere $20?

Further, just because you don't understand why everyone wanted the toy does not make the toy any less valuable or desirable.

It's not a matter of low expectations. It's not like there's never going to be another Blaster toy.

It's cool to not like something, toy or whatever, but when that dislike makes you unable to at least understand the otherside of the argument, then you're the one on the wrong side of the discussion.

The difference isn't about technology. It's about talent and design. It's my opinion that the design team have seriously upped their game over the past few years.

And at some point in time I'd like to see them put that level of expertise into updated gestalts, if that's okay with everyone else. B-)

Well for me, being a discriminating collector means not buying up every piece of plastic with a TF logo. That would be indiscriminate. :-B

I can't stop anyone who wants to buy this stuff, and I'm not trying to. But if people want to argue that it's a good idea, or a worthy effort, I have dissenting opinions to offer(which no one even has to read).

I think the Animated Soundwave would make a great Blaster as long as he got a remolded head. The alt mode and the guitar/minion fit his personality better, and it's nice and boxy. Not to mention a red SUV would look better than a red stealth bomber.

I hated this figure as much as most of you who have posted in this thread. Then I saw it again in the botcon pics and I hated it less. Then I saw it again on BBTS for preorder and I started to _like_ it a bit. I'm not sure why.

I guess I look at it as a WW Blaster. I didn't collect Cybertron, so when I look at the head, I see Blaster with an in-battle face shield (like Optimus has had in all recent media). Even with a more G1 head, I don't think it would look right. Too much of a stretch when you look at the rest of the body.

I'll probably buy it unless funds get tight. It's on the border, but I know if I see it in the wild, the package-whore in me will buy it.

BTW, I own the Takara reissue b/c that was my fav TF from when I was a kid and transforming him gives me a wave of nostalgia every time. That said, he's too big to fit in with the Classics characters.

Of course, now with Powerglide being an ultra, maybe he won't look so out of place...I digress....

The point of this rambling is that maybe if you give this figure a chance, it'll grow on you too.

I like Blaster, I felt he was an under-rated and poorly characterized character like Ultra Magnus was until IDW got their hands on them.

Do I like Classics Blaster though? No.

• He's just a repaint, of his G1 "nemesis" no less. Blaster and Soundwave may have shared SIMILAR alt modes, but they were never identical. Much like Optimus Prime and Ultra Magnus, their alt modes were similar but never identical. And I fear Blaster will become "just another Soundwave repaint", which is something he doesn't deserve.

• The mold. I've never understood the fascination with the Cybertron Soundwave mold. I personally didn't like it. It was just plain ugly to me. But that however is a personal preference.

Now I can however see something good in this Classics Blaster. The fact that Hasbro are using the name, which means they intend to keep the copyright so I shall hold out hope that down the track we will see a new Blaster not based on Soundwave. (Not that we should be saying "based on Soundwave" as it's only a one off at this point in time)

Will I buy Classics Blaster? No. I have Cybertron Soundwave and these days i'm more of a mold collector rather than a completionist. So in this case one version of the figure is enough for me.

The alt mode's a mess, the robot mode is nothing to write home about, Blaster never had a cassette that turned into a bird, and the blue plastic on his weapons is just wrong.

Ebay has had this figure a lot in the past... You should seriously check it out. To me, people missing out on an old mold isn't justification for using it for a different and supposedly updedated character.

That right there backs up why myself and others are so unhappy.
It's been forever since we've even had a Blaster figure...
To half-ass it seems very wrong.
I've said this before-- Hasbro should've waited until they could make a new mold for this guy (even if it were late next year). Assuming they'll make some money off of the second movie line, it probably would've made making a new mold for Blaster pretty realistic.

It's easy for us to brush off, but if you're a huge fan of Blaster, this is a pretty big deal. I was actually pretty disappointed to see this figure.
I mean, when will this character get another chance at a Classic/Universe mold????
As you've said, there are others that would probably come first before he gets another go.
In fact, there are a lot that'll come down the pipe before he'd get a second look.
