Yeah, it's one hell of a jock strap.

Another board member and myself are talking about making an Alternators style Laserbeak.
I went to school for engineering, so I know it's possible.
peegoo sounds like a smart one. Take it slow, i'll enjoy every step of the way!

How about a regular-sized cassette tape for MP Laserbeak?

Who says it is metal? It might be some sort of alien material that can bend and do all sorts of things. Since they are alien robots after all, this isnt much of a stretch of the imagination.

Leave it to Dead Metal to have the word 'Pronz' in his signature.

I could accept it if you forgot you were maried, to feed you pets and kids, but forgetting G1!![]()

Or at least that's the intention of the original design.
The weird thing is, the vertical slats of the grill became horizontal slats in robot mode.

That'd be cool. You going to use a car-base or a motorcycle? A car would be an awful big bird lol.

It's going to be car based. Just think how much bigger Ravage XK8 is compared to how small he was in G1.
This project will take about a year just to fabricate the mock up. After that, necessary modifications will be made and hopefully something awesome will be the end result.
The biggest problem I see, pre-production ... is the strength of the main wing joints. We'll have to use most of the panels on the car to make up the wings, so they're going to be pretty heavy I would imagine.
Hmm ... maybe I'll use hollow "bones" just like a real bird.

What car model can possibly transform into a bird? I mean a car model with the necessary shape.

Actually a car with gullwing doors or perhaps if some scissor doors were engineered in such a way to give the appearance of wings, I think it would be a great start on a car based Alternators Laserbeak.

I'm thinking of the Benz gullwing coupe. The one back in the 70s or 80s. Forgot the car model name.

I didn't think of the 300SL but it could work I suppose. I believe that is the Mercedes you're thinking of although it was produced from the early 50's through the early 60's. It's possible we could be thinking of two different cars. It's the only gullwing Mercedes I could think of off the top of my head.
When I first suggested a car with gullwing doors I honestly thought of Thunderhawk, the gullwing Camaro Matt Trakker had on M.A.S.K. that transformed into a plane.
I also thought of the gullwing DeLorean DMC-12 although the back end of those cars were always kind of the deal breaker for me. They were seriously ugly and it makes you realize that the profile of the car looks like some nasty car design reminiscent of the fuel efficient vehicles of the 70's. It's almost on par with the likes of the hunchback looking Honda, Toyota, or even Ford hatchbacks of that era. The Back to the Future trilogy really did a good job of hiding just how ugly the car was with all the necessary time traveling components, especially to the rear of the car.
