And we (me being part of the current dutch convention team) have not been in contact with DairyCon or anyone...Black Arachnis wrote:DBCTF!?! what the hell? Argus hasn`t organized a dutch convention since 2006!
80sgeek wrote:So how much better has the Dairycon become since that first one? I was at the first one and helped get it set up even in the crappy weather. Not to be a downer, but only one guy had real figures (in box and imports, not just pieces like at rummage sales) and wanted to show the Japanese series' he brought. The few people there were more interested in watching the '86 movie and the winner of the kitbash thing was an Optimal-toilet. That kinda killed it for me, well that and my best friend (mentioned earlier) who had the only REAL amine store in the state, helped start the whole thing never got ANY credit. So I guess I'm a bit biased, just start with the hate-posts.

Let's get a few things straight first. The initiative for the Golden Overlord was not mine, and in fact I was against it. Including plans to have an alternate golden award instead of the Golden Overlord, and in the past two years there hasn't been one. Although I have been part of this team from the beginning, I've only taken over as lead organiser AFTER B.O.T.S. of earlier this year. I have also been actively against doing a Trypticon race at our event despite repeated requests from people. All because that was your thing and did not/do not want to tread over your shoes and have not tried to in respect for what you have done over the years.Argus wrote:While I commend you on your convention and the things you have accomplished you should be fully aware that there are no ties between these organisations at all. While I was happy to set you guys up with a contact list for dealers and such for your first convention this does not mean I am in any way tied, beholden or otherwise linked to your initiative. The attempt to appropriate the golden Overlord in 2007 was as such also not appreciated. I merely wish all conventions and initiatives the best and am happy to see smaller and larger niche conventions thriving on a global level.
Your posts, questions and ruckus are thus unwanted, uncalled for and not particularly professional.
Just as you are well on your way to making sure our whole event might not happen, if Hasbro would think that we had anything to do with this.Argus wrote:You might or might not be aware of the ruckus you are causing. Your 'panicked and outraged' post here has caused quite some trouble so far. As spokesperson for BOTS you should be well aware of what your comments on the net can cause even if you, perhaps, did not intend for the message to be read as such.
Aside from telling people that 'we' are not 'you', you should require no further info. 'You' are as much not 'us' as 'you' are not one of the myriad of smaller cons and meetings in the Netherlands (and the world over).
P.S. So far you are well on your way to making sure the exclusive will not happen at all.
Argus wrote:Hans, I fully and wholly support and agree with your post. Luckily this applies to the greater part of the local and near local fandom and I hope to see this remain true in the future as well.
I can not point out often enough how happy I am to see such a large number of meetings and smaller conventions happen around the Netherlands these days. It is something everyone who has been involved in the history of Dutch 'happenings' can be proud of.
I am however afraid I am forced to formulate a public reply to an email Raymond has sent out to close friends of mine that basicly makes me out as a liar, claims direct lineage to dbctf and tries to weasel our little present away and claim it for his own convention.
As I do not want to harm the fans by posting spoilers and harm your convention. I will thus edit out your new convention name, your plans for next year and your contact details.
Please let it be clear that this makes me very sad indeed and brings home why I stepped out for 2 years in the first place.
