Packaging criticism for Transformer toys

hi,

I was looking in Jarrolds at Transformer toys and I kept on thinking they all looked ridiculously small but were in very large packages which are also very difficult to open. I even spoke to someone about it who agreed.

I am a fan of the 1980-1990 transformers I love them and I really miss the cardboard boxes they use with the see through windows.

Does anyone else feel the same?

I've thought many times that the packaging could be smaller to save space\cost.
Seems retailers prefer the hook system, so maybe that's why almost all toy(except Lego) are on a blister card.
I would like to see the Transformers brand use boxes for a future line like in the G1 era, just for a nostalgic reason. They are easier to store and display much nicer than a card. There is often some great artwork on the boxes too.

This is where I believe ReproLabels can cash in on the MISB collector market. If you think about it, G1 figures were also on blister cards within the box. Imagine paying 5 bucks for a G1 inspired box that comes shipped flat. It would fit the dimensions of the bubble with the top portion of the card (and the peg hanger cut out) exposed. The box would have a window outlining the figure. Include an old school tech specs print on the back of the card with the red decoder film (including the old proof of purchase TF point scheme along with a cutout for the UPC at the bottom of the bubble), and you have instant win. If they can find a way to make the card seamless with the Generations/Classics/Universe/etc. box designs and make it of top quality with a glossy finish, the concept has the potential to be quite a seller.

Blister cards on hooks are much easier to browse. If you want to see what's at the back it's much easier than removing all the boxes!

Smaller packing might save in space and cost, but larger packaging is more attractive to shoppers, which means more sales.

for me its not the size of the packaging really its that there so hard to open sometimes and you have to cut around the bubble or rip a whole through the back.

Also if they repositioned the toy a bit so it was more inside the actualy cardboard bit this would be a much better idea.

True about larger packaging = more sales though. I hadn't actually thought about that point.
