Tired of all this silver crap. I don't want to be throwing reprolabels on all of these figures that I own. I guess it's fine for the movie aesthetic... but everything else should be colored.

Faction symbols have never been an issue for me. I could live without them to be honest.

When and where are they still doing this? Last time I checked(quite recently) they stopped doing that outside the movie lines. anyway, Red/Purple is my vote.

Coming from another point of view on this, I feel that the faction badges are a fundamental part of each character and I would positively miss them if they started skipping them (as they have started doing on the Prime figures). For me, they were always what seperated the Zybots, Change Bots or any in that sea of knock-offy chinese no name "me too!" offerings from the TRUE CYBERTRONIANS. They were what made Transformers REAL Transformers IMO.

Even in the case of borrowed designs this was true. I knew that G1 Jetfire was a re-use of Roy Fokker's Veritech from Robotech, but slap on that Autobot Symbol and he became Jetfire, Autobot Air Guardian! Generic "Gun-Borg" became the indomitable Decepticon Shockwave once that big purple symbol appeared on his chest.

Changing that formula, as what was done in G-2, or removing it altogether would be a grave mistake, and at least for me would diminish the basic "personality" of the figure. Am I making sense here?

I actually like the silver symbols sometimes. Not all the time, but sometimes it works. Like on Acid Storm.

And the symbols on my Shattered Glass figures don't matter to me much. Okay, I see SG Ravage as SG Ravage, but SG Thundercracker is and eeeeeeeeeevil Decepticon, red symbol or no red symbol!

I also feel odd about putting faction symbols on my 3rd party figures. Yes, Warbot Defender is my Springer, but ... I dunno. Never put an Autobot symbol on him. Maybe I'll try it and see how I like it.

So I put down "doesn't matter". Sure, sometimes red or purple is a must, but many times I don't care.

Optimus doesn't count, besides, everyone else in Prime FE has colored faction symbols.

I voted red/purple, but my real choice would also include heat sensitive. Rubsigns are cool by me.

Sometimes a different color fits, like the picture earlier in the thread of the biplane (can't remember his name even though I have that one, d'oh!) with the black symbols but in general black/silver should be avoided.

I have to say, I also like the red 'con symbol on the Prime Starscream animation model. I don't know why, but it just looks right. I don't go for any of that "shattered glass" stuff, so that's not influencing me.

Once in awhile different colors look good and fit the character, but overall I prefer the classic red/purple with a silver border. A lot of the Prime figures don't even have them, which is a real shame. Can't believe cost-cutting has gone that far.

Overall, I prefer the classic symbols. Stylistic variations are acceptable now and then. A Transformer just doesn't look right without a faction symbol of some kind. Although I did really like the spark crystals of the Beast Machines era.

Why didn't Prime figures have symbols? Especially Autobots. Not just toys, I mean cartoon. Correct me if I'm wrong, in the cartoon all the Decepticons have symbols on them but I don't see on Autobots.

Back to topic. I voted to red/purple but majority for none movie figures. Movie figures goes well with silver/black.

I'm not getting the RiD Prime figures so I don't have to deal with them but I've been putting the silver ones I got a million of free with my orders from reprolabels on the figures that need it and most of my customs. On the purple chests of the Cyclonus from the two pack and my custom Skystalker or on the otherwise symbol-less RTS Lugnut, the silver really works. What doesn't work is when they paint a red Autobot symbol on a red car hood and don't outline it.

What I need are some silver G2 :G2BOT:

! Hell, I'd be down for just about every faction symbol in silver. Gold however just doesn't do it for me.

I don't know why the toys don't have them, but the Autobots definitely have them on the show, just they tend to be uncolored and in out of the way places.

See, Arcee's got one on that "wing" thingy but it's uncolored and someplace you're probably not going to be paying much attention to.

In the prime cartoon Prime himself has logos on his shoulders and arcee does have them on her arm fins but thats all Ive seen.. I think bulkhead might have some visible ones as well, not sure though.

I love the reprolabels clear faction symbols, they look good on everything. In terms of colors, Autobots red, Decpeticons purple..Its just how it should be.

Optimus has them on his shoulders, both in the cartoon and the RiD voyager. Bulkhead has them on his forearms in the cartoon. I haven't seen any on Bumblebee or Ratchet though.
