The metal may make Binaltechs a little top heavy, and I'll agree on the transforming being a little easier with the Alternators, but there's just something about having the figures in metal with smooth paint jobs that seems right.

After the first couple initial transformations, I'm probably just going to display them as is, so the inconvenience is minimal there. And unless you are striving for a Revoltech-style "mighty kickboxin' Prime" pose with a Binaltech it is pretty easy to pose them so they won't fall over.

Rationality aside for a moment though, with real cars coming out made of plastic and resin molding, I'd at least like my transforming toy replica cars to be made of metal. :D

Off the top of my head, Vector Prime and Soundwave (pluse lazorbeak) spring strait to mind. Also, (though this is a personal preference) with the odd exception (latter runs of Scourge) the charcerters who are found on the verious planets who dont initally belong to a faction dont have a faction symbol on the toy on the Japanese version. As they dont have it in the cartoon, and arnt actully cons or bots, I think it is good that Takara chose not to include their faction symbols. Hasbro on the otherhand, having to deal with 'retarded american kids (and their perants) desease' had to apply faction symbols everywhere lest they got confused.

You know, Vector Prime is an interesting point and somewhat of an anomaly. Hasbro went an entirely different route with him for no particular reason and gave American kids $20 worth of Failure. Voyager class Starscream never saw an equivilent American release (the TRU 2-pack doesn't count, that's Thrust damnit.)

But to go so far as to say 'a great number of...', I just don't see it. I had remembered hearing some people say that their Soundwave's had bad paint apps. I can't attest to that though. My Hasbro Soundwave was just fine. The only other difference I can remember was between Scourge and Flame Convoy, where FC had darker, but not-quite show accurate colors.
I have Flame Convoy and I can't really see a difference at all. Is there more of a "spray" on FC? Otherwise they look exactly the same to me.

Well, what I remember was that the Takara release of Flame Convoy used either a painted, or noticably more muted version of the orange and yellow colors when compared to Scourge. I could be wrong and the final production run of the Japanese Scourge was in fact lacking those alterations. :-?

From my experience epecially with RID/Car Robots, Takara was daead on show accurate. Especially with baldigus/Black Convoy. They used the upside down g2 autobot logo, but Hasbro went with the shooddy decepticon faction symbol, and a more KO bruticus look for Ruination.

Hasbro didn't even edit the fact they used the inverted symbol when it was aired in the US, so why did you put decepticon symbols on them, they wer called the Combatricons in Car Robots.

They used better apps on the first run of mach alert and X-Brawn, by using subdued colors, clear parts and better paint apps.

Gigatron, and yes while it's really no different than the RID Megatron, can easily chiip it's paint.

as for Armada/Micron Legend, Hasbro got the jump first, then Japan. But I own Micron Legend Prime, and compared to it's Armada version, the colors are anime correct, and the paint appd look more metallic. Plus Starscream and the rest of the seekers have remolded wings, so they are sharper looking or more sword-like than the US release.

Oh, and Final Battle convoy, and Magma Convoy DX are far superior in paint and quality than Final Battle Optimus. Trust me, I was dissapointed when I saw how bad the QC was on Final Battle optimus.

The paint jobs on a whole are, well better with Micron Legend than Armada...period.

Oh and Beast Wars, all the apps and quality of product are show accurate with Takara. I hate the mustard yellow Tigatron we originally got.

Now Superlink has some stand outs...like Mega Zarak. But I like the Scorponok colors too...but Hasbro had some stand outs. One is Optimus Prime. Convoy in that series really looks more like a Super Sentai Figure, with the Bling Bling chest when combined with his other parts.

Some of colors used in the first release of Superlkink toys are nice, but not all are show accurate.

Like Laserwave Vs. Shockblast....Real difference is in the shade of Gray used in the tow toys, and the color of his chest. Superlink uses darker tones, while Energon does not.

Really, for Superlink/Energon, it's a matter of opinion.

Galaxy Force had better paint apps, but this was not the case with Hot Shot/Excillion, they are exactly the same.

Of course convoy looks ten times better than the US counterpart as far as paint, but both are visually stunning.

Real with the exception of a few figures, Cybertron and Galaxy Force are almost identical.

You're correct. I had to do some checking on my own. FC is a bit more earth tone yellow as opposed to the bright yellow on Scourge. Otherwise I am hard pressed to find any differences. I know this is neither here nor there, but I love this figure. Strange hands be damned.
