I too think Arcee is too small. You can use relativity method and compare Arcee's wheels with Jazz or BB's wheels.

My 2 cents!

Cheers!

Yeah, I still think it's out of proportion. There's no way Starscream could be that big.

Well, for both Starscream and Arcee, I used measurements of the real vehicles. It's possibly of course that either the toys don't transform like their should, or that the movie animators cheated.

How many feet tall do you think Arcee should be? She's only a tiny bike. I mean look at this picture of a man riding one.

Well, the Peterbilt truck Prime uses is not that big a vehicle, and is tiny compared to an F-22, but Prime still is reasonably big in robot mode. A bigger robot mode than alt. mode doesn't necessarily mean mass shifting or cheating. If that was the case you might as well stand up the vehicles vertically.

Well, seems I was justified on Jazz. Michael Bay has said in an esrly interview he was 13 feet tall, I had said he would end up 15. Jazz's profile in the second issue of the IDW Transformers U.K. Magazine, stated he stands 15 feet 7 inches tall, weighs 1.8 tons and has a maximum speed of 400 miles per hour.

They also say Megatron is 35 feet tall. I'll buy that, but I have to enlarge his picture a little.

Arcee is around 1/18th scale, I think. She'd be about the same height as a Minicon or perhaps G1 Frenzy/Rumble.
What scale is Ultimate Bumblebee? I'm guessing it's about 1/18th too.

Very neat! Although someone might have mentioned this, but Bonecrusher seems a little too big against Brawl. M1-A2's are larger than MRAPV's. The Buffalo is 1.5 times longer than a Humvee and about twice as tall. That's roughly about 1/2 an M-1's size. :-?

Plus I hear that Blackout is taller the Megs who is taller then Prime. Starscream is probably somewhere in the middle of Blackout's and Megs sizes.

I based Arcee's height on the actual motorcycle Hasbro's concept art said she was, a Buell Firebolt which is 194 centimeters long from end to end according to the Beull company web site. With the toy measuring 14 centimeters long it has a scale of about 1/14. Her robot mode would stand about 6'11'' tall.

Actually, they confirmed at Botcon (so did robot illustrator Ben Procter, I believe) that Arcee's robot mode is actually 9 feet tall, and that's official, I'll find my sources when I get home from work.

Remember how much they grow when they transform. Even Jazz, as small a bot as he is, is still big considering the Solstice isn't a huge car.

This is a better scale for Arcee next to a normal person, the lego CN Tower next to him is 9 feet tall, so is Arcee:

Prime, Ironhide and Ratchet look to be on scale, but BB should be a bit more shorter than Ratchet. Arcee a bit taller.

BB and jazz look about right next to each other though.

I know Ratchet and Ironhide are a bit small in my photo compared to their movie depiction. I honestly based their height on the size of actual H2 and Topkick truck, and then used the proportions of the Voyager class toys changing from vehicle to robot modes. They are not the 25+ft tall the movie makes them out to be, unless the Voyager toys don't transform accurate to the movie (which is VERY possible). My picture is based on the toys and real world numbers. I think I might make a second photo based on the official movie numbers, so people can compare.

She is/would have been 9 feet tall, it was confirmed by Roberto Orci, I believe. Hasbro mentioned it to at the Hasbro tour during Botcon this summer.

You also gotta remember all the extending, folding and what not when they transform. Sure you can just take the SS figure and stand it vertical, measure the height (from nose tip to back engines) and say that when he's transformed, he's gonna be extremely close to that height (depending on how you pose him might not be even.) But when you actually transform him, you'll see that the nose flips down, taking down a couple for height, and that his legs fold like a chicken, making him kinda in a crouch position, taking another bunch off the total height. Or BB, with his feet folding/extending out, rising his height a bit. YOU CANNOT JUDGE A TRANSFORMER'S SIZE JUST BY THE SIZE OF HIS VEHICLE FORM IN REAL LIFE. Please, take it from a guy who went to college, AND sees how stuff like folding and extending can make all the difference in the world. I mean, who's to say that Megatron's transformation doesn't make him a whole lot bigger then a F22 Raptor.

Yeah, but remember how much the bots "grow" when they transform. Jazz isn't too big in bot mode compared to the others, but his vehicle mode is small, even for a car. The robots do seem to get much bigger than it feels like they should, mainly because they "extend" so much. In bot mode, the actual vehicle parts are farther apart since they're connected by all the wires and rods that look very skeletal, which isn't the case in the traditional "blocky" TFs, they just folded out really, and didn't expand like the movie TFs do.

Watch BB transform back to vehicle mode in the movie, he really folds in on himself, it's funny to see how big a robot can come from such small a car. Same goes for Arcee, given the movie TFs ability to expand so much, 9 feet tall is reasonable for a motorbike. Remember, it's not like you're just taking the bike, standing it up on it's rear wheel and making a robot, the 'bot really "grows" out of the vehicle.

Frenzy is another example. Even though he's small, he's still a tall bot considering he's only a small stereo.

Another thing to remember is this:

THE TOYS DO NOT TRANSFORM EXACTLY THE SAME WAY THE MOVIE CHARACTERS DO.

Look at movie concept Arcee, then look at the toy, especially in the legs. Her parts have unfolded and extended a LOT more than the toys' parts do. Same thing happens with pretty much most of the others, while Starscream, for example, has the opposite happen - more parts fold up and compact.

Watch the various transforms in slow-motion when the movie comes out on DVD, and you'll see even more what I mean.

I know what you mean.

I did another picture. It has 2 lines. The first is mine bade on what I think the height of the robots would be based on ther real world vehicles sizes and the proportion of the vehicles.

The second line is the same guys, done based on how tall the Transformers movie video game guide said each of them stands, plus what the guys at Botcon said for Arcee being 9 feet tall. So the official heights have arcee, ratchet and Ironhide a bit taller than me, and Bumblebee shorter. Jazz and Optimus are the same in both.

The "official" heights are Arcee 9 feet, Jazz 15 feet, Bumblebee 16 feet, Ratchet 20 feet, Ironhide 21 feet and Optimus 28 feet. I tried to make it so that these heights were the tops of each of their heads, in cases where their arms or wings stuck up higher.

Crap, now I'm confused. I thought Jazz was the shortest of the movie Autobots but the second line has Bublebee as shortest.

Here's a good pic. As you can see, Starsream is WAY bigger than any of the Autobots, even Optimus. If Megatron is slightly bigger than Op, than imagine how big is Starsream. Evidently, the movie makers cheated big time on SS's size.

If you don't see the full pic, you might have to click it and wait for the pic to load. :P

If you still don't see it, just click here.
