Love the Straxus. I'm guessing the next figure will be Flame and/or Xaaron.

No licensing requirement means more profit for themselves. The new mold also looks less like a VW Beetle than even the missing link figure, so they can defintely get away without the licensing.

Then perhaps I'm wrong. Maybe we've seen the last of Hasbro working with VW since they don't have many (any?) other opportunities coming up since the movies have moved on. Maybe that's even why Hasbro still hasn't offered the Missing Link cars yet.

Hasbro has worked with them as recently as ROTB Wheeljack, so I don't think it has anything to do with a bad relationship. Rather, I think it is simply Hasbro realizing that a new Bee mold for generations/Legacy will have numerous repaints and if they go with an alt mode that would require licensing (like the Netflix mold) they paint themselves into a corner of having to re-update any agreements before a redeco of that mold can be done.

Edit: Hasbro also just put up Missing Link Bee and Cliff and mention the VW Beetle mode in the listing, so I think things are just fine between Hasbro and VW. Hasbro just didn't want to go the license route with the SS86-29 Bee mold, which to me is a smart move if they will be doing lots of redecos.

That would probably make it a two-pack of Megatron remolds, since Xaaron is very similar in looks to G1 Megatron.

Oh yeah, this is looking very hype. Eager to get my hands on that Quake to replace my TR one. Will also definitely pick up that Slipstream to replace my Legends one, the headsculpt and deco looks fabulous!
I am intrigued to see how the toy-based OP will look, I'm very excited for that!

That was going to be my guess. For a minute, I thought they might do something crazy and dust off the TR toy, just with a permanent head. But thehn I remembered that was a Hardhead retool. Quake was more of a classic tank that a Skullgrin retool can pull off...

Should probably be pointed out that Legacy Cybertron Starscream is *technically* a retool of the Siege Seeker mold since they apparently share joints. The only thing I can see in common between the Quake art and Skullgrin is the chest and back. Even he placement of the tank treads aren't the same.

They still share parts, but just based on the art it's only some of the torso. "Retool" (or partial) is such a broad term that can mean anything from a head swap to only sharing joints.

Of course they will. Soundwave was a prominent character in the movie,
Was he, though? He only had four lines in four different scenes:

"As you command, Megatron."
"Rumble! Frenzy! Ravage! Ratbat! Eject! Operation: Interference!"
"As you command, Megatron."
"Soundwave superior, Constructicons inferior."

And only briefly appeared in one more scene afterward (Starscream's botched coronation) as a silent cameo.

Well Snarl appeared in SS86 and he was only in the movie for less than a second, no speaking lines. I don't think they will care too much, as long as they think he will sell. Not so sure Sludge ever had a speaking line either.

as for the next release of the comic book series, I think that it is Scrounge, maybe with a Blaster. the hand is at Straxus' knee and if the little yellow bit is a more exaggerated shoulder piece, that would make that bot the same height as Scrounge in the comic. (shoulder to Straxus' hip) and I read somewhere that it would be a two pack. So a Voyager Blaster and a Core Scrounge would make up the leader level of the other releases. Also Scrounge is tied to Straxus in the comic, and Blaster is a foil for both Straxus and Grimlock, so he would go well with the theme.

I am hoping that all the cassettes that they release with the new soundwave are unique. Buzzaw had better be one of them, or I will wage war. I hope the other two are Slugfest and Overkill. Probably too much to hope for, for them to be Squaktalk and Beastbox. None of those 5 have had releases in the seige and up scale.

Buzzsaw seems like a safe bet. Bmac during the livestream when announcing Soundwave pointed out that he was wearing a Buzzsaw t-shirt and said Soundwave was his favorite figure for the year which is pretty high praise for what we've been told is a repaint (of a kinda shoddy retool) so there must be something special going on here. Buzzsaw, Slugfest and Overkill feel like the most likely choice since the others familiar ones have been done a bunch of times and we're getting SS86 Steeljaw

The latest rumors say it's a 2-pack of Xaaron and Flame, with Flame being made from Gamer Edition Megatron. Xaaron is also a short guy with yellow hands, so that'd be his hand on the packaging.

It's not, he has orange arms. Most likely it's Flame since that would be his red Shoulder as well. Colors are right but the layout is wrong.

I don't see it being Xaaron, even though I would like to get him. I hope it's not Flame. I would love it if it was a Blaster-Scrounge set, even it that was the 5th release of that Blaster mold.

They specifically said it was new character(s) that the design team was surprised they were making so it's definitely not Blaster.
