That's the million dollar question. Of the original three Autobot Double Targetmasters, Scoop seems to be the only one that ever gets any love and attention, with Quickmix and Landfill just left out in the cold.Rodimus Prime wrote:Also I thought maybe he was because he also got 2 targetmasters but I think that's due to his original toy.Sabrblade wrote:Doesn't look like he was. True, but releasing him solo previously didn't prevent them from releasing the same figure in this set did it?

Which, IMO, is why they should have included some other cassette such as Ratbat instead of Rumble variant. At least then it wouldn't feel too much like retreaded ground again. Although pretty much all of them are at this point anyway, but still.
I just think it's poor form on Hasbro's part to string fans along with these expensive avenues for release of the various tapes, and Should never have done the translucent Eject in the first place. They have to know fans want all the tapes but don't need the 20 extra Blaster and Soundwave figures.
Just get to the Cassette 4-pks already!

Well we also got translucent Rewind. They knew SS86 tapes were on the way, but releasing translucent versions made the voyager Blaster figures a better sell. Hasbro knew we would buy the SS86 version anyway, so they're trying to do the same with Soundwave. Hopefully enough of the fans wised up and will wait for the eventual SS86 release, regardless of which cassettes it will include. Should be Laserbeak, Ravage and Ratbat.

My Doom and Destruction "3" pack showed up from Amazon yesterday.
I'm really happy with the main figures; one cool feature is that some of the insect appendages are extra pieces that can be added/removed... If I end up displaying these guys in bot mode, those may be left off.
The hammer figure is pretty pointless with this set, and isn't a very good figure overall imo, even relative to its scale.
But the main figures have great paint apps and the joints are nice and tight. These really do a good job of being different from the original molds they're from.
I would've loved this to have cost $40-$45 and not $55+, however I'm very happy I have these two Insecticons to add to my Decepticon collection.

Speaking of Bludgeon, despite hating Tarn, I love that Bludgeon in Legacy... With the Reprolabels and replacement parts upgrades. With those, he's magnificent. And damn, did the stickers took a long time to apply!
They say it's the "comics universe" Bludgeon. But he's more like a Prime/RID/Cyberverse one. Seriously. The overall shape of the tanks, the double-barrels canon (except for Prime) and especially the chestplate that act as the front of the tanks.
Even the bot modes follow the same overall design.
By the way, that "1 Step" Cyberverse is way better than expected and HOLY CRAP the secondary market prices for that small Prime Bludgeon!

As for the good old G1 original, appart the non-transformable Super7 action figure, only the Prime Master kept the original look. A shame that the inner bot is not green (mostly due to gang-molding I bet.) As for a transformable one. The ROTF original is the only one so far that retains the overall looks and spirit of the G1 original.

Yeah there's no way in hell that new Bludgeon is "comics universe." Looks NOTHING like Bludgeon from the comics. The ROTF figure is the closest out of the full sized versions. If only his tank parts were purplish instead of green.

Even compared to IDW2, the Legacy Bludgeon looks like around 50% like that comic. And That's only WITH the upgraded parts. The main culprit being the threads of the tank being in the wrong place for the bot mode.
Same thing with the vehicle mode. The chest part is in the wrong place, but with the upgrades, it's at least 75% close. Without the upgrades the similarities drop to 20% for both modes.

It's a real shame that "comic Bludgeon" was just a straight repaint of Tarn with only a new head. He would have deserved a new mold. Maybe as a leader like Bee Movie Concept Megatron would have done the character justice.
Regardless, I'm glad that with all the upgrades and Reprolabels, I have a hybrid between RID/Cyberverse and IDW2 Bludgeon.

Bludgeon is 50% and 50% Tarn since they were blending the two together for the dual uses.

You're not wrong. Hasbro's been rather inconsistent with its universe designations in all three Legacy lines. As the wiki puts it:Rodimus Prime wrote:Truthfully, I try not to think of IDW2 at all. But even so, they should have some designation on the box specifying the continuity.Sabrblade wrote:You're thinking of the wrong comics. What toys get what "____ Universe" prefixes (if any) is sometimes a bit arbitrary:
- The Diaclone-adjacent items in the Generations Selects and Buzzworthy Bumblebee lineups are not given the "Diaclone Universe" label.
- The "Comic Universe" label lumps together toys based on character designs from both the Marvel and IDW Publishing comics, while Velocitron Blurr is based extensively on a comic-original redesign but doesn't get the "Comic Universe" tag (or any tag, for that matter). Likewise, Jhiaxus originated as a comics-only character, yet is given the "G2 Universe" label despite having never had a toy in the in the Generation 2 toyline.
- Galaxy Shuttle gets "Victory Universe" on his packaging, but Metalhawk and Minerva don't get "Masterforce Universe" on theirs.
- Similarly, United Tasmania Kid gets a new "Beast Wars II Universe" tag, while the previously released Evolution Leo Prime and Nemesis Leo Prime were only given "Beast Wars Universe" tags in their online bios, despite them all originating from the Beast Wars II sub-franchise. Meanwhile, fellow United release Magmatron gets just "Beast Wars Universe" on his box despite being from Beast Wars Neo.

It's a bit baffling that the owner and creators of the Transformers franchise know less about their own brand than the fans.
The irony is that it does not just apply to Transformers. It apply to Star Wars, Star Trek, Dr Who, LotR, D&D, and much more.
Seriously, each of them should hire a team of hardcore fans to make sure things stay on track. That is, without hindering any innovation, of course.

Basing myself on how set on repetition most hardcore fans are, I find myself wishing more and more that people working on Transformers knew absolutely nothing about them before getting hired.
