I feel like there's a huge difference between cw ultra magnus and the one coming out in siege as the cw one was definitely more inspired by idw, right down to minimus ambus while siege is meant to invoke the g1 toy, just via the route of rid magnus.
With powermaster prime they may feel that their job is done, unless someone can convince then to do all the powermasters again...but better.

And I would not say no to a retake on the PMOP design as I was incredibly disappointed with the Titans Return Optimus.
Oh man, I hear you guys but i dont need another PMOP. I already have 2 generations ones. And Takara going all out with Godbomber tells me that this is what they think this is as close we will get to PMOP in this modern era.
I would much rather they focus on different characters/desgins/transformations than just giving us incrementally better toys.
I do feel that Magnus is a good example of a completely new experience over the previous one, and hence why I dont mind him at all.
I am really looking forward to this line. Especially since there isnt much in terms of new molds coming out between now and it starting if one is colelcting Generations and Studio Series (which are both currently going on a repaint fest)

I think people are still sour that PMOP lacks the little cab robot. I know there's 3P stuff for but still...

I think ironically that the prime we got in power of the primes would have been a better based to build power master prime from. The transformation of the pax bot is even similar to the smaller prime I'm the original powermaster toy

And Hasbro knows this all too well. They realized after they had already made PMOP for Titans Return that the Evolution gimmick of Potpie was right up PMOP's alley, and noted that if they hadn't done PMOP for TR, they would have definitely done it for Potpie.ZeroWolf wrote:I think ironically that the prime we got in power of the primes would have been a better based to build power master prime from. The reason that they did PMOP for TR in the first place was because they wanted a big Leader class toy of Optimus Prime for that line at the time, and felt that PMOP fit the bill since he was the "big Optimus Prime" toy of G1 (outside of Japan, that is).
They only thought of the Evolution gimmick for Potpie's Leader class figures only after the TR PMOP had already been done and set for release, meaning that they didn't have the foresight to save PMOP for Potpie at the time that they were conceiving the TR toy.
That's also why they had to come up with some other way to apply the Evolution gimmick to Optimus Prime's Leader class Potpie toy, which in turn resulted in Optimus toy that we ended up getting, complete with the first ever cartoon-sculpted Orion Pax toy.

Well in defense of the Evolution Gimmick: it make sense his small mode is Orion Pax the same way Rodimus is Hot Rod.

Forget Powermaster Optimus Prime. I want to see Siege Ultra Magnus repainted as a proper Powered Convoy. I'm not interested in Siege Ultra Magnus himself, as I prefer the Combiner Wars mold as my "Classics" Ultra Magnus (specifically, the Autobot Heroes 5-Pack version), but a repaint as Powered Convoy would be kitschy enough for me to want it in my collection. I could then enjoy the uniqueness of the Siege Ultra Magnus mold without having to double up on the character. Bonus points if they can "retrotool" Powered Convoy to look more like his original Diaclone self in alt mode, rather than a recollored Car Robots Ultra Magnus.

That was a leaked list of then-upcoming Titans Return figures that people thought was referring to a new figure at the time (size classes weren't given, it was just a list of names), but it's believed it was actually referring to the second run of the Titan Master figure in wave 4.

Unless we get leaks what is the next expected event for official reveals? We've seen so little of the line, especially the Voyager price point.

Probably NYCC, unless there are some non-US/Takara-specific events I don't know about.

That would be interesting.I just hope it isn't like when Hasbro did that fan event in Australia and then suddenly changed their minds about letting people take pictures of the new stuff. It reminds me of the old SDCC days when they wouldn't let people take pictures from their presentation and we'd have to wait months to see what everyone in the room saw.

I'm hoping to see what the Seeker mold is for this line. Part of me hopes for G1 seekers, but the other part of me knows they might pull a fast one and try to release Cybertron Starscream without gimmicks

I know there was a lot of speculation with Tetra jets (based on siege posters). I mean I know some automatically think welcoming committee or rainmakers with Tetra jets, but the original trio could be stylized in this form as well.

Why wouldn't it be the main three? Skywarp and Thundercracker were the ones we saw in the episode that this line is drawing its primary inspiration from in the first place.o.supreme wrote:I know there was a lot of speculation with Tetra jets (based on siege posters). That's reassuring. If you know anyone that's going tell them to bring a black light.

BTW, old business: Everyone remember the previous conversation about how Powermasters should have been part of Power of the Primes? (And yes, I know this isn't the PotP topic, go back a page and you'll see what I'm talking about.) It looks like the Prime Masters were almost called Power Masters according to the price tags at Walmart. Just like how PotP was going to be called Prime Wars before a late change turned that into the name of the trilogy it seems like Power Masters was nearly a thing. I wonder how far they got into the concept (as far as Dreadwind and Blackwing I'd wager) before shifting gears away from that and if any unused concept will be found in Siege (bringing it fully back on topic).
