Yes, the original has a panel with detailing behind the blue translucent plastic of the window.

Thanks.

ZeroWolf wrote:Is that panel not in the Netflix version then?

Nope. There is nothing there. I have the Netflix version BTW.

Subtle change between versions.

Very interesting :-? I thought the only change was the deco.

Yeah me too, apparently not. I wonder if there's any other subtle changes I haven't caught on to yet.

Slight correction to aronjlove's reply, there is no extra part in the Siege version. The blue window piece itself is painted silver on the inside so that you cannot see the head through the cab. It is not an extra part, just a deco change. The panel he references is actually the window piece painted on the inside.

Ah I see, okay then that makes sense. Thank you.

How do you figure that?

Does having an opaque windshield improve the figure?

The Netflix version perfectly fine. I prefer the translucent windshield.

Netflix overkill it with the dirt and smoke, while ER is lazy as hell.

Not really dirt in the Siege sense. Its Magnus losing color a la dead Gray Prime. Reason why he’s a Spoiler pack.

Yup, he's being greyed out due to death. Also Kanrabat, there is no Earthrise Magnus. The new Magnus is coming out in Kkngdom.

Kingdom Eartrise. Close enough. Especially when Kingdom have at least two ER re-releases.

I use them for 2 different things: TR became my Cyberverse Astrotrain and Siege is my generations con.

I actually like the TR one more. I prefer the Siege train mode and colors, but the TR one has a better robot mode, better shuttle mode, better face sculpt, and is just overall more fun to play with.

I do hope we are done with Astrotrain for a while though. give it 5-10 years before you try to come back and go again

I love how the wing jointing of the SIEGE Seeker mold makes it really good at looking disheveled.

EDIT: Came up with a battle station config for SIEGE Magnus' trailer.

Looking at my Netflix Soundwave, that light piping is something fierce. I don't remember it being this intense in the Siege version, maybe it's because it was yellow instead of red.

That is exactly what changed him from a pass to a "take my money now!" for me once I saw him in hand. The light hit him just right and my willpower didn't stand a chance.

It's haunting. I don't think I have ever seen this intensity on light piping before. It's even better when there isn't that much light around because he really brings it out.

Just wondering for anyone who has him and wants to share--

Siege Springer... Yay or nay?

The closest I've ever come to having this character was back when a version was released by FansToys. And at the time I couldn't justify the price. I really liked him as a character, and now that I have SS86 Hot Rod on preorder, I'm not opposed to getting Springer, if he's worth it.
It may take some convincing because I'm already not a fan of the worn/battle damage paint apps, even though they're relatively subtle.

Any insight is appreciated!!

edit:
Somehow forgot... Also asking basically the same about Siege Sideswipe... He's one of my favorite characters, but was hoping for a slightly different version of him from either the ER or Netflix line than what we actually got... Since that didn't happen, I'm back to considering the first version.

I'm happy with my Springer but I hunted the Ross stores in my area until I found him. Sideswipe I bought full price, then bought the Amazon pack with G2 Sideswipe, then bought the Netflix Sideswipe. Along with Tigertracks and both Siege and Netflix Red Alert you could say I like the mold. The Netflix figures seem to have tighter joints.

He's a good toy and good representation of the character. His transformation between modes can be a delicate ordeal as the tabs and joints can be really tight and hard to get in the proper positions at first. Watching videos is generally a good idea with him, especially from reviewers who point stuff out.

For me, the only downside of SIEGE Springer is his lack of a transforming sword. Everything else I'm happy with, including most of the compromises re: cartoon accuracy (angled chest instead of the erroneously rounded one, paldrons not being tilted, exposed front wheels in robot and helicopter mode, no slope on the back of paldrons) because there are good mechanical reasons for them, esp. on a retail toy - and I like them better than the compromises made by the 3P versions.

Rumor has it there's going to be a "clean" version released in Studio Series, but Idk if that's gonna prove true.

I personally didn't have a hard time figuring out his transformation. The best way I can explain it is, I knew what his altmodes were supposed to look like - and with that in mind, I was able to visualize how to get the pieces from their robot mode position to where they went in the vehicle modes.

Overall I'm pleased with Springer. I was never a fan of the character (I was ecstatic when Megatron executed him in Regeneration 1, top 3 TF kill ever) but the toy did him justice for the most part. I bought him to go on my movie shelf to complete the movie cast. For me, his transformation was tedious and annoying, and I have done it only once. When I complete my display case and rearrange my collection, I might transform him again.

Tl;dr he's a low-profile positive addition to my collection.

Yay. I think he's as good as we can get for that budget, though I will admit that the transformation is far from intuitive.
