Well the movie line was fun....

Feel free to discuss anything about any of the thousands of Transformer toys here. Anything from Generation 1 all the way to the soon to be released, the never to be released or the hope to be released is fair game! Want to show off your stuff? Please post your's and see others in the Transformers Collections Forum.

Jeeez Chill out if my post offend you so much just dont read them. However you will find that I only repeated my tired old opinion when challenged, to back up my dislike of the movie with reasons. The actual opinion I original posted in responce to this topic was that I was glad the movie line is soon to be over because I don't want to buy any of it, and have had very little Transformers to interest me in the last 6 months or so. After someone agreed with me (further proving that my opinion is valid) I added that I would prefer it if TF2 either never gets made of is so bad that everyone can see it and the whole movie franchise gets canned. That's my opinion, deal with it.

You know what, I really don't! It was crap, it had two semi developed TF characters in the whole movie and they only received about 30mins of screen time combined! Added to that the designs were ugly, overly complex and generally unrecognizable as Transformers. I'll stop bashing the movies when they stop making them crap, and no amount and 'success' is going to change that.

I figured the robots in the movie were going to be hit or miss. Some hate it cause its not like the cartoon. I loved the way the looked....complex and alien. Sweet adaption. :)

At the risk of repeating myself I just want to clarify one thing.

I didn't hate it becuase it wasn't like the cartoon, I actually didnt much like the G1 cartoon and could totally see why the movie could never be a straight adaptation of that. I didn't like the movie becuase it the Transformers in it we little more than bit part actors, plot devices and a means to cause explosions and mass distruction. It's I bit if a disappointment in a movie called "Transformers" that the Transformers were forced into the wings to make way for teenage drama, badly conceived 'Men In Black' government organizations and slapstick/bad taste comedy.

True. The movie was definately wicked fun to watch. However, I think they forgot it was about Trasformers. It had more of a King Kong like feel to it. Massive alien robot monsters attack. Humans pull together and kick ass. Not really the classic TF storyline.

Michael Bay really needs to get out of the frame of mind that humans could EVER stand up to the might of the Decepticons.

With Brawl's, Blackout's, and Megatron's CANON power, they should never have been taken out by the humans.

Seriously. Megs should have called in Sixshot. He would have shown those human germs a thing or two. ;-)

No, Blackout should've killed every single one of those soldiers right at the beginning, along with gayass Lennox so we wouldn't have a silly subplot where for some reason it takes an A 10 Thunderstrike and a gunship to take down weeny Scorponok, but it takes only a couple of Raptors to puncture Megatron's chest.

Plothole anyone?

Should have stuck with Sam and Mikaela only. And maybe Glenn. The rest should never have been there, not even that champ of a Defence secretary.

My view of the movie is split between my personas:

Me the general moviegoer thought it was mindless, silly fun.

Me the transformers fan wanted more characterisation, far less human involvement etc but recognises that movie will never be made. For all that money, it had to have very wide appeal beyond the likes of those frequenting this forum.

I agree with AK, the movie wasnt very good.

It was your typical plotless action movie, and had the added downer of barly featuring the things it was suposed to be about.

I mean come on, the cartoons, that are aim at KIDS, can manage to make entertainment that kids and adults alike like, that has a plot, and that centers almost exclusivly on the actual transformers. Why couldnt the movie?

Also the movie designs ARE ugly.
As are the toys.
Which were also rushed, often not of the quality we have come to be used to, and frankly often no fun at all.

I for one cant wait for Classics 2.0 and Animated, becuase the state of tf toys at the moment has driven me to buying (the far more expensive) Star Wars Lego ships.

---------------------------------

Its not my fualt I like reasonably simple, blocky, smart looking robot modes.
No more than it is your fualt you like tfs I (or AK) dont.
Autobot032 and all those others, just live with it, no body agrees on everything.

My movie goer persona pretty much expects charecterisation and a decent in plots as wel as my tf fan persona.

I have never liked Mindless action, I like a film to have a good meaty plot. Heck any plot at all would be nice.
And a bit of commen sence.

Ohh, look, one army of robots wants what the other army has, what shall we do sir?
We shall take the one army and their thing and hide them in full view in the middle of a teaming city in the middle of the day. The other army will NEVER find us and distroy our city.

The movie line is fun but man did it ever make me feel stupid. At least at first. I guess I was just out of practice. I'm glad I traveled as much as I did during the summer, because I found a ton of Classics, a few Cybertron, several Titaniums, and an Alternator to kinda round out my collection. I'm really just looking forward to ANYTHING with a new mold. I'll probably pass on the repaints, unless there's a G1 Prime or G1 Ironhide repaint (a red Topkick would go a long way towards making him easier to tell what's going on). In fact, those are the only two movie Autobots that are missing G1 color schemes...Jazz and Ratchet got theirs, and BB had his all along.

I want the Autobots with new molds. Decepticons, I'm not so sure. Been pretty wary of most Decepticons in this line except Leader Brawl, Megatron, and deluxe Bonecrusher so far.

I agree with AK. The movie was good when focused on the giant robot drama, but did we need all the other teen drama stuff? Most likely not. I'm glad it wasn't a direct G1 translation, but who really watches TF for the humans? People who hated the Armada kids (ugh!) will rave about Sparkpulg and the humans of G1 (ugh!). I want robots, not human drama. I can hear teenagers whining anytime, but I can't just look out the window and see robots fighting. I liked the movie a lot, but it was far from really great. As far as the toyline, I liked it at first and then lost interest after I bought some toys that aren't agreeing with what I want from my Transformers. That's all, I can share my opinion on such matters but I don't have to sit here and justify them to anyone. I don't like movie Longarm, and that's fine, if you do, I'm not going to get all worked up and make you tell me why you do, becuase I probably still won't like him. People complain that someone is attacking their opinions and then we all attack each others', so what do we really hope to acchieve here?

Actually I really don’t mind human drama with my TFs, it gives the story grounding and perspective. I loved the character of Kicker in Superlink for example, and I was pretty cool with Sam in the movie. However I felt there were too many unnecessary human characters and sub-plots pulling the attention away from what the movie should have been about...the Transformers.

Sounds like Armada and Bayformers have something in common.
