our lucky all of the stores here in my tonw won't hold aanything for nobody even yesterday when i found a primus i wanted him but i went for some deluxes and saw him didn't have the money i needed so i asked if they could hold him and the guy said he could not hold toys cause it is a exclusive i was like tff primus was never a exclusive dude but whatever so i called my sister and i waited for her a hour to show up with the cashmegatron7 wrote:i've never hidden toys to buy them later, once i found a voyager movie megatron and didnt have enough money, i called my friend and waited like 10 minutes for him to show up with the moolah, and today at TRU when i found Primus i didnt have enough money on me, so i just told the cashier if she could hold it for me while i went to get my money, but i see nothing wrong with hiding them if ur going to return for them, i dont know why people get mad at that, maybe someone left their money at home or forgot how much they really had in their wallet, as long as they picked it up from the shelve they pretty much got to it first and should have the right to hide it. and if i had to hide a tf at walmart i would go to the baby department and when no one was looking slide under one of the cribs.

And that's just bullshit. Total five-year-old nonsense pulled off by immature little brats that run through stores. "I'm going to hide something because if I can't have it, nobody else can, either." I hope that if another collector catches you doing it, that they take it from your hiding spot and then punch you in the face.

No, if you find it first and pay for it it's yours. It still belongs to the store and should be left on the store's shelf right where you found it until you're in a position to pay for it and make it yours.
I don't want to be a associated with people who hide things from people who want them and have the money to buy them right there.

It's called keeping tabs. When we don't have money with us and find something we want, we're gonna make sure nobody else gets it till we come back for it.
Here's one for you.
The topic disinterests you. What are you doing posting in it?
Disinterest has nothing to do with it. I simply don't understand the motivation. I guess I'm just not a cheap sh*t who would deny a kid/other collector who actually has some money the chance to buy the toy. But hey, you go ahead and keep on hiding crap around the store like a retarded squirrel burying his nuts. Very mature. Don't call greed "keeping tabs". Big difference.
Most of you bitch and moan about scalping, but have no problem denying others the toy they want, simply out of selfishness, by hiding it away in a drawer like a 5 year old who has to wait for his birthday money. Grow up.
I'm also not buying for a second the idea that you're at the store buying groceries, clothes, etc. and can't afford an extra $10-$20 toy and so you hide it. Please. If that's the case, you have bigger problems and should be spending your time and money in more productive ways than hiding toys in retail stores.

Well, I'm not going to hate on those of you that hide toys to buy later. But I will say that I think it is a chump move. Doing that denies people/kids/collectors with the money to purchase the TF the chance to get it. It's not as bad as scalpers but doing that denies someone the opportunity to get that TF in much the same way that scalpers do by buying everything up. I can say this because I don't hide TF's to buy later. If it's on the shelf and I don't have the money I can't get it. Simple as that.

I have to admit I have hidden before, but only when I have the money to buy one or two figures, but find two or three that I really want. If I'm buying one I don't see the problem in hiding another & paying for it the next day.
But what I really don't get is why don't you just ask the staff to hold it back for you? I've done that before & it worked a charm ^^

In TRU, I usually just hide them in the storage area above the pegs. You know that panel that has the logo of whatever they're selling in that aisle? Well, I just flip it open and toss the figure in there. People don't tend to look in there. I managed to hide a Classics Grimlock up there for a few days (I was saving him for my friend).
And everyone, come on, stop hating. Hiding just balances out the universe. Why not complain about the real problem - scalpers, the ones who go into the store, dump the entire peg into their cart, and live off their ePay earnings for the rest of their lives?

Because some of us don't see much of a difference between you and the scalpers. You are both depriving someone else of the item out of your own selfishness and greed. Should the grocery store hang on to enough frozen pizzas until you have the cash? Maybe the clothing stores should hang onto their spring lines until winter so that you can save up some money first. It's flawed logic. Capitalism doesn't work that way. You are not special.
I'll also say this... though I have no embarrassment when buying TF's at the store as an adult male, if I ever actually see a 20 or 30-something HIDING A TOY in a store, I will promptly point and laugh like Nelson Muntz from the simpsons. You might as well tattoo "Dork" on your forehead.

Well, whatever kind of point DorkimusPrime is trying to make is just his opinion. And I will continue to hide toys. Yeah, I'm evil that way.

HAHAHAHAHAHA i found that statement very ironic for a person to say on a TRANSFORMERS TOY FORUM. Dude, were all dorks. Look in a mirror, the tattoo is already there.

I hide them in my cart or hands until I check out. Then they hide inside my home, never to be seen by the outside world again.

I have no problem with people hiding figures, just so long as they know that I WILL be looking for them and if I find them there's no way I'm going to think "Hey, someone hid this, so I should just leave it."
As long as you know that it's still fair game, You can hide them all you want. Just don't be surprised if it's gone!

If a certain fellow collector didnt hide a replica bumblebee for me, I never would have gotten one.
I don't care if people hide stuff. If I find it, I keep it, if I can't find it, oh well, I should have come earlier looking for it.
To many variables as to why people might hide it, so no point in really trying to take sides.
Unless you are a scalper and hide 10 bumblebee's, then ur a jerk.

I don't go into these big shops, mainly because there aren't any within easy (or cheap) reach of me. But if I'm in FP and I spot something, I may hide it behind other tf's. Like the time I spotted Anime Galvatron. I didn't have the money, so I placed it behind the things it was hiding when I found it. It was in the same place, just rearranged. And I returned the very next day.
If I was in a bigger shop (like TRU), I would similairly place it behind other tf merchandise. If the person is too stupid to look through the pegs, yey for me. It worked. But I'm not going to hide it in another part of the store.

Exactly! It's all part of the game, the thrill of the hunt. If it's in the store, you can buy it. Plain and simple. If it's on ePay at 5xMSRP+S/H, you can't.

Well, Ragnorok64 many Wal-Marts, I thought all have stopped having Law away, since most people never pay it off these days, they get business offline these days that they did not have years ago.
The program was costing them too much money to process all those credit card fees, and have all that data stored for no one to ever pay off the items, it was a huge gash bleeding money so they stopped it.
I always like to hide things high up, I am 6'8 so I know I can put things on the cap shelf where no one will ever find them.
Once, when I was younger I hid a Human Torch, and my mom actually asked a guy at the KB to help her find it after I gave her explicit instructions lol.
I do not see a problem with hiding one toy, it is the same as denying some one the toy as if you had purchased it, and if you never get it, it is just another casualty in Wal-Marts inventory computers.
Like all the opened drinks, candy and other items that get the package carried out and never are there to get damaged out for credits.
Besides, Wal-Mart knows about these things, it is their fault if their loss prevention/security/surveillance teams suck, they are a large corporation and obviously can absorb this better then the above mentioned problem, if they cared they would enforce policy.
