Only they know. Lol. But you'd have thought after TFA they'd have wanted to given they re-popularized the character

I like to see them try but if it is as lame as Tankor/Octane, better leave it to save their fame. Actually how many successful triple changers did Hasbro successfully produce? Then I need Springer as well.

The G1 version of Blitzwing and Astrotrain was pretty good. However was that Hasbro back in the 80's or Kenner? I always get that mixed up. I know 80's Star Wars was Kenner.

The classics Astrotrain is decent I thought. I would love a nice version of Blitzwing. Maybe a third party could make a good one.

Originally the reason they (Hasbro) gave was because they did not want to make the same character in 2 different lines. At the time they had Animated ready to be released, so they decided to make Tankor for the Classics line instead.

At this point there's no real reason, it would be a good time to make him. Even the G1 mold is a good one, all they need is to add some articulation to it, and it would still work. The overall transformation scheme and general engineering is pretty decent.

Yea, animated seemed to be their reason. They said something similar about cyclonus. That since they did a classics style version of him recently, they would not be making an animated version.

Jazz seemed to be suffering from this issue as well, but, they went ahead and made him. So, at this point, it just needs to happen.

Actually Classics BB was released in 2006, and 2007.

Animated BB was released in 2008. And The classics mold was re-used for the 3-pack Legacy of Bumblebee Walmart exclusive only but not a stand alone release.

There was the movie Bumblebee released at the time as well, but
I guess the Movie lines have always been the exception. Since the characters from the movie must be made and they aren't easily confused with Animated or Classics.

Classics Jazz was made a long time after Animated was cancelled, so he no longer had the issue.

Prowl seems to have broken the trend by being in Animated and Classics at the same time. But since one is a brown and gold motorcycle, and the other a white car i guess confusion was also not an issue there.

At this point, when Hasbro brings back the Classics line under whichever name they decide to use this time it would be a good idea to see a Blitzwing.

Thing is, BB must sell well enough for them to keep making them. Cyclonus, Jazz, Blitzwing, these aren't exactly the flagship title characters.

I really want them to make a Classics triplechanging Blitzwing, along with a triplechanging Springer. I'd prefer all their modes to be awesome, of course, but as long as the robot modes are good and the vehicle modes aren't bad, I'd much rather get mediocre triplechangers than really good figures of them with only a robot mode and one vehicle mode.

What they should have done was stick to the original designs but upgrade the articulation. Apart from the odd stumpy arm (Astrotrain for example) the main ones had three decent modes.

I could see Hasbro doing Blitzwing in whatever they are going to call their Classics line.

I am pretty confident that Hasbro is going to end up doing all of the characters we want to see, it's just a matter of time.

I have a feeling it all comes down to a combination of these factors: toy engineering, expectations, and children's imagination.

Making a proper Triplechanger toy may seem easy at first, G1 pulled it off, right?. But G1 had to fill in a lot of gaps with imagination. For instance, G1 Astrotrain's shuttle engines are clearly visible in the locomotive's cab, and the wheels were located in the wings. G1 Blitzwing's tank treads were nothing more but stickers covered up by his wings, and the jet cockpit was clearly visible in tank mode.
As toy engineering improves, expectations rise and kids rely less and less on their imagination. Classics Astrotrain and Tankor aka Octane, like their predecessors, had to make compromises in their overall design, in sculpt detail no less instead of those old fashioned stickers. From my point of view, Octane pulled it off nicely, Astrotrain I can't comment on since I don't have him. But both figures had relatively equal bulk in both vehicle modes.
Blitzwing however does not: he has a sleek jet and a hefty tank to consider. Animated Blitzwing avoided it mostly by using completely made up models of jet and tank, down to actually incorporating the tank treads into the jet. With the Classics-styled lines focusing on semi-realism and reinvention, Blitzwing is a bit of a tough cookie.
The resident Rewind... well, half of one

My solid Guess,Hasbro/Takara split up the Generation one updated homages in the Animated & Classics toy lines. Since animated had a voyager blitzwing toy in it,their was no need for a classics styled blitzwing toy.

Personally,I want a better blitzwing toy than the animated toy version.

From my stand point,Blitzwing has a lot of potential of being a awesome designed toy. due to it having 2 realistically styled military alt modes. My ultimate hopes are one day seeing a Masterpiece leader sized Bltizwing tripple changer toy. my other hopes are seeing a voyager sized generations blitzwing toy.

I'm kinda scarred to even imagine what the live action TF movies toy lines would do to poor o'l Blitzwing. will he come out looking worse than the animated toy version. or would he look awesome. I wasn't impressed with the DOTM toy sculpting, engineeering & joint technology. that's Why I only bought 4 Dotm toys thus far. I loved the TF1 & ROTF toys better than DOTM.

I have Astrotrain and Octane (its not tankor :P) and like them both, i would say that octane is the better out of the two, simply as astrtrain is a bit bulky.

As far as i know they have tried to incorporate triple changing into other moulds, such as classics galvatron, and mindwipe/strafe from RTS.

It would be fantastic though to get all teh old triple changers, Blitzwing, Springer first up, followed by broadside and sandsotrm.

Also then seeing voyager sized quickswitch and Sixhot.

what i really want to see would be the duocons, sold in two packs, being there own robots, and vehicles as well as combined, and interchangeable, set in deluxe size.

Now that would be good
I'm also looking for G1 Scattershot - complete with all parts for computron (i've got all the other techno bots, just not got their leader! If you have him and are looking to sell or swap for something please let me know - cheers

Energon Swat Team Checkpoint, and Energon Swat Team Prowl

I didn't realize their was another thread discussing classics bltzwing. I created a thread & it got locked.

So since my thread got locked & my over-all idea can't get discussed no more in that locked thread. I'll post my thread inside this thread via a reply.

here goes my locked thread via a reply:

If Hasbro creates a leader sized Blitzwing toy, they can repaint it into flywheels, overlord, megatron.

ofcause they also need to create new 100% retooled head sculpts & maybe give each repaint unique weapons.

the robot mode two arms need 2 ports on the outer arms to attach weapons or shields to them.

flywheels is a great choice because he's got 2 land & air alt modes. give it 2 hand guns that resemble their 1985 weapons. new head sculpt.

overlord is another great choice, because fans have been wanting a updated new mold that poseable for a long time. ofcause the character makes sense because he's got a jet & tank alt modes. for weapons give him a huge riffle gun that looks like his 1988 riffle gun. blitzwing's sword. new head mold.

Megatron makes sense because he alternates between tank modes & jet modes. so making him a tripple changer makes sense because he had was a 6 changer toy in Rid. megatron was a tripple changer in the cybertron toy line. megatron's weapons would be a fusion canon & blitzwing's sword. new head mold. G-1 megatron cartoon colors.

ofcause blitwing would come with his unique 2 weapons that resemble his 1985 weapons. a blitzwing 1985 head design.

Yeah but Flywheels wasn't a triple changer. He was a bot that had two seperate alt modes (accessed simultaneously) and one robot mode.

If they were to do an update on Duocons then i'd love them to keep with that particular gimmick.
