Ummm...but was he embarrassed? If he wasn't, then why should you waste time and energy feeling something for someone who isn't bothered by it? And seriously, if your kid hasn't heard swear words by now, he must live an extremely sheltered life.

I felt the reference to "masterbation" totally uncalled for!

That wasn't a reference, that was a blunt discussion in a full scene! And personally, I thought it was pretty damn funny. Your kid's gonna be dealing with it eventually, which means you are going to have to deal with it. By then, your beef will be with God and/or nature, rather than the writers of some movie. Then what?

There have been great movies produced without the use of excessive bad language...examples include mostly George Lucas movies: 1) All the Star Wars Movies, 2) Raiders of the Lost Ark Movies.

Lol - yeah, they only featured things like mass killings, severed limbs, graphic violence, melting bad guys, and a brother and sister kissing each other, that's all.

We need to express our concerns to Michael Bay and Hasbro that we want the rest of the sequels to be good actions movies without the bad language!!

What's this "we" stuff? You're not my leader and I'm not your follower. Do what you like, meanwhile I'm gonna watch that movie a few more times.

There's just not need for it!!!

In your opinion. If you feel that strongly about it, then don't ever watch the movie again.

I am just making a big deal out of this because lots of younger kids would want to see this movie, look at all the kidde stuff thats being advertised

Not unlike Star Wars and all the characters who are killed, have limbs severed, or cut in two. Bunch a kids go and see those movies too, so what about that? Seriously, SW products are marketed towards kids of all ages, so what's worse, kids hearing a jakk-off joke, probably not getting it, and really just caring about seeing giant robots, or kids watching Luke get his hand chopped off by his dad, or Darth Maul getting slashed in 2?

Could they have done without the masturbation joke? Oh, absolutely. I still laughed my ass off.

But you know WHY it was funny?

It wasn't because they were talking about masturbation. It was funny because it HAPPENS to real people. The kid's mother asked him straight up if he was masturbating. I can see my own mother asking me the same question ten years ago. It wasn't the topic, it was the fact the topic was brought up by the kid's mother.

As has been said over and over again, it's a PG-13 movie. All the violence and the language is why it recieved that rating. If you look at the rating, as was previously said, you can find out exactly why it was rated such. I'm willing to bet money it says something along the lines of "crude sexual humor" or such. It should be OBVIOUS why -- perhaps not the specific joke, but the nature of the humor (hense, SEXUAL) -- they would put that there.

Frankly, if you're embarrassed for your 11-year-old, it should be embarrassment toward yourself for not researching this movie. I missed the 89 Tim Burton version of Batman in theaters because of the rating and my parents were worried over what the content would be. Now I feel that they were being responsible. I would do the same for my own kids no matter how much they pleaded to see a movie of a certain rating.

Again, I'm really not sure why some of you are making it out like they approached the topic as some sort of innuendo.

Anyway, I don't think you'll get an official answer to your question on these forums. But go ahead and write the studio a letter and ask them why they "had" to put a reference to "musterbaition" in the movie...

i'm more upset that I think the writers gave jazz a line that didnt fit his personality - i think anyone who is upset about the masturbation joke is uncomfortable with the topic in general.

FYI :

some of you so-called concerned parents need to actually spend some time with kids....because if you do you will find that they curse. they don't do it at the dinner table...or while driving to work....

i spend a lot of time with kids...in thier environment, at a community rec. center and also coaching youth sports....they are far more worldy than most parents want to accept.

maybe the word bitches is offensive to some....but to those born from 1980 and later the word bitches has replaced other generic terms like: dude, homey, guys or fellas. things have changed. if you want to be effective parents you need to be up to date, and more realistic about the world your kids live in....

it seems to me that the biggest problem is that some parents "CHOSE" to ignore the PG-13 rating....and are now complaining that the movie was not acceptable for young kids....HELLO!parenting is a serious job, and you parents need to take it seriously and use the tools that are available....

i don't know about where you live, but in my state(CA) young kids are in a "sex education" class in the 6th grade...i was 11 when my public school teacher tried to teach us about masturbation,reproduction...etc...

This is a case where I both agree and disagree with what you are saying. I agree that parents do need to spend more time with their kids, and, well, be parents. However, I disagree that parents need to be "up to date" as you put it. As a former step-parent, I involved myself as much as possible with my stepson, to help him have a good upbringing (something his mother didn't seem to care about) Times change, but it does not mean we have to sit back and let it happen. To use an example, kids are having sex at 11 and 12 now, but it does not mean that parents have to sit back and let it happen.

If you're eyeball to optic with a great big giant killer robot, I think it'd be perfectly okay to swear. After all, you're not exactly going to be watching your language at that point. Unless you're crazy, stupid or on drugs, that's gonna be the last thing on your mind.

I thought the bad language was necessary. The movie was goofy enough as it is. Without the adult touches, it would have came off as a super-kiddy friendly type movie like SM3 and FF4-2.

the cussing was unneccsary, but you should just be used to it by now.. they can say all the words they said in the movie on prime time tv today. as well as slut, whore, ass, tit, bitches,
really, anything except for the f bomb and the sh*t is allowed on tv.

you are right though, some of the best movies ever made didn't use any curse words. and some of the worst use alot..

It's okay as it is. PG-13 ya know?

Robots blowing **** up is violent and should be avoided by your children at all costs.

Seriously, this movie is a gorefest. Hundreds of people died. The first scene saw one robot wiping out a whole battalion. Scorponok impaled a soldier quite graphically. The fight in the city had absolutely no concern for civilian casualties. Prime and Megatron killed at least a dozen people inside the building they crashed in.

And you're worried about 'masturbation'? I think that's a lot more pleasant than being ripped apart by a big mean Decepticon.

And the 'bitches' part was okay. Although, maybe 'homiez' might have had the same effect.

As someone else said, kids are far more worldly than you'd like to think.

I don't. How long should it take?

My mother gave me one rule on Masturbation: Only in the privacy of your own bedroom.

Face it, any one who is against masturbation is either a prude, or very, very repressed.

Its a movie, as long as he didnt ask what it was or how to do it your fine, and Star Wars, I think that was R when it came out but was changed due to the MPAA standards being changed, anyways what do you expect, a battlefield withe men yelling "SHOOT! My darn gun just freaked up! I cant shoot crap now" And the fact it was a PG-13 movie should have warned you a little about what to expect. And this may be my common sense node kicking in, or the fact I saw The Terminator in 1st grade, but read the rating first so you aren't "shocked beyond belief" cuz life aint a PG movie, its a "Heavy R"
