I truely loved the movie except for the bad language! Why is it neccessary to produce a movie with excessive bad language in it? I was embarrassed for my 11 yr. old son, I felt the reference to "masterbation" totally uncalled for! There have been great movies produced without the use of excessive bad language...examples include mostly George Lucas movies: 1) All the Star Wars Movies, 2) Raiders of the Lost Ark Movies. We need to express our concerns to Michael Bay and Hasbro that we want the rest of the sequels to be good actions movies without the bad language!! There's just not need for it!!!

Lennox: "Well, old chap, it looks like that heliocopter flying machine gave our boys a good whooping"
Epps: "Oh, horse feathers. I feel we must leave the immediate area, lest we become like our deceased comrades, dear chum."
Doesn't really have the same feel does it?

like it has been said there was nothing out of line for this movies rating

Well, Jazz saying "li'l bitches" was just...odd. I didn't think the language was all that bad. It was certainly better than a lot of comedies I've seen, and it seriously wouldn't be realistic for Sam, a 16/17 year old to say "Oh crap" when being chased by an alien robot. The masturbation joke was taken a little far, but I laughed initially. However, I wouldn't have missed it at all. All in all, this movie was rated PG-13, and as such, may not be appropriate for children under the age of...13-ish.

Then maybe you shouldn't have taken him to a PG-13 movie. You really have nobody to blame here but yourself. When I was a kid my parents let me watch R rated movies because they knew I wouldn't take what I saw on screen literally and repeat it and if I had any questions they were always willing to answer them because they were really open-minded. If you're okay with an 11 year old hearing a couple bad words and naughty jokes then take him, but if you're not okay with that don't take him. It's as simple as that.

Bingo.
Ratings are there for a reason.

The swearing didn't bug me, as long as they didn't say "f*ck" cause, IMO, that would not have fit in a TF movie.
But yea, the masturbation joke went way too

I was fine with everything they had in there. Yeah they could have done without what Jazz said and the whole masterbation part, but it was still alright. Though the masterbation part did kinda fit in with him hiding a locking himself in his room. It is your fault for choosing to ignore the PG-13 rating though. What did you expect? You would have a right to be upset if it was PG and they had that stuff in it.

I felt there was entirely too much violence in the film and won't let my young ones see it once I get it on DVD.
Just kidding.
Just kidding.

As someone put it earlier in a different thread.. "Jazz has been waiting 20 years to say bitch", something like that. It was great. Haha. Would have been better though if he started blasting music and Prime had to tell him to turn it down, instead of the dance routine. But his lines were great.
Masterbation joke was golden.
I think you should write Hasbro and tell them that the "Oh ****" line in '86 Transformers was inappropriate. Ah yes, even more so since it was back then, AND because the theatres those days were filled with young young kids.
I will proof your letter if you would like.

I gotta say, as much as I enjoyed the movie, I also think the language was a bit too much for a movie based on a toyline that's predominantly aimed at kids. And there were a lot more than four curse words. In the first scene where Barricade chases Sam alone, Sam swears about ten times.
And as for the whole "masturbation" thing... a buddy of mine took his nine year old son to see the movie, and he actually ended up having to give him the ol' birds and the bees talk because he wouldn't stop asking what the "monster-something" line that everyone laughed at meant. When I found this out, personally I thought it was hilarious, but in a way, kinda unfortunate too.
And yes, I know the movie is rated PG-13, but it's obviously aimed to include a younger demographic than that. I think it's mainly a failing of the filmmakers not considering their intended audience when deciding how far to go in terms of language. 'Cause really, toning down the language a bit probably wouldn't have been that bit of a deal. I mean, heck, they probably could've still included the masturbation bit if they'd just gone with a slightly more subtle route than actually flat out saying, "masturbating."
That's my opinion anyway.

I have a hard time understanding why anyone would have problems with the content. Other folks have already mentioned how it's rated pg-13, so obviously you should take that into account. I completely agree with that and won't comment much further. With the US rating system it also includes the very reasons for a movies rating, below the rating title. If you're a concerned parent you should be checking that out before you make any assumptions and bring your kid to a flick.
And the "masturbation" scene, this just boggles my mind that some people are finding it offensive. I've actually seen people talk about this in another thread about a week ago. It was just making light of a very realistic family situation. It wasn't even some sort of innuendo. And if something like that prompts a birds and the bees talk with your 8 or 9 year old kid, I hardly find that to be the end of the world. Better that you have a discussion with them now, than they learn it on the playground.

Sorry dude but I completely disagree with you. The movie's target audience is NOT young children, it's people between the ages of 13 and 30. That's why is has a PG-13 rating. If the target audience of this film was children ages 4-12 then it would have been edited to a PG or G rating but it wasn't. This isn't a "kid" movie, it's a movie for teens and young adults.

Well said. If someone's willing to ignore the rating and take their kids anyways then they should be willing to deal with the consequences of that choice. ALSO, if you're so embarrassed that you can't discuss the "birds and bess" with your kids then maybe you shouldn't be having kids! Being a responsible parent means keeping your kids informed and if you can't do that then you fail as a parent.
Sloptank wrote:I didn't mind it, but then I think that words being taboo is ridiculous in the first place.
TOTALLY AGREE. It's funny because, like starhorse said, just making light of a very realistic family situation.

Read my post again. I didn't say that the target audience is young children, but rather that it includes young children. Just watch all the commercials for Lunchibles, Burger King Kids Meals, and the various toys, and then try to argue that they're not trying to market this movie's demographic to include younger kids. That's why I think it may have been a mistake for them to feature PG-13 language and sexual subject matter.

if you dont like bad language action movies then dont watch die hard. who cares. yes there is need for bad language. where you shocked in the 1986 TF movie where spike said "****". its not like its the end of the world. every action movie should have bad language like all other action american movies. if you dont like it then dont watch it. go cry to your pillow and write letters to bay or speilberg.
