Ok, So I'm tired of all the fatimus Prime jokes and hate directed and such over Energon Prime. Not really mad or anything, but I thought I'd at least point out some of the finer things about a much hated Optimus Prime..It's important to understand that the design was created to monopolize on the popular Robot Combiner concepts that were prevalent in television during that time.

Set ten years after Armada he is no longer able to combine with his trailer, Prime has instead been gifted with the Spark of Combination by Primus, allowing him to combine with the quartet of vehicular drones in his trailer, the Prime Force - Fire One, Copter Two, Digger Three and Submarine Four, each of which can form either an arm or a leg when they combine with Prime, creating his super mode. Later, Prime also gained the ability to combine with his fellow Autobots, Wing Saber and Omega Supreme, in the latter case creating Optimus Supreme.

I understand the angst over the design of the cab being so large, and larger then his legs and arms, but when combined with his teammate Wing Saber, he really is quite awesome!!
If the combiner Optimus Prime doesn't do it for you, then atleast the Wing Saber does it for you..

though I do think the Omega Supreme Prime combo is just ridiculous though..

But in either event, I gotta say that the Wing Saber design really makes this guy like able to me..I didn't used to like this guy, I used to agree that this figure and his design was horrible an made him look fat, but in either case I am now interested in Purchasing him..all he needs is a little love...

I like the mould. His combined form with his prime units would have looked better, if they had a little more uniformity in their color scheme.

I think the WingSaber combination is the best one. Its uniform in color, and makes him look really cool.

but i think he's a good figure.

I always liked Energon Prime. One of the best in the line. And Energon is a damned fine toy line to boot. The best of the Unicron Trilogy.

Dressed up with other TF's Voltron style or not, he's still a fatty-prime. I never understood why the Leader of the Autobots, being so powerful would need to weigh himself down by other units sticking to him. The only Primes I like besides G1 is Cybertron Prime, and the movie Primes

it was the whole combiner thing that came throughout the whole Unicron Trilogy, Armada had Minicons that added additional powers and upgraded prime and his trailer combiner added to him as well, energon same thing, and Cybertron he combines with other transformers as well.. it's what the series is about..

His chest is fat, because its a cheap way to keep the proportions accurate in combined mode..

For Energon, he really wasn't. Megs could hand him his ass if he wasn't combined. But I liked the idea of it. As much as I like Optimus Prime, I never understood him being as strong as Megatron. If Megs was the be all end all villian, Prime shouldn't be able to take him down without help. With the Energon version, you got a sense of that though. He couldn't do it by himself, hence the multiple combinations.

Gray plastic was the Energon release, chrome was the Superlink release. Chrome also appeared on the both the Energon and Superlink versions of Dlx. Prime. In the US, dlx. Prime was packed with the Superlink version of Megatron as a TRU exclusive.

Poor Opty Prime sure has gotten fat in his old age =( How do you go from being on top of the Autobot world to that? Talk about a fall from grace.

lol.

All kidding aside, its not a bad looking fire per say, but its just waaay too bulky looking for me. I do give you credit where its due tho, the wing saber combo is class my friend.

QFT!!!

I completely agree, this incarnation really shows that without the Combiner Power given to Prime by Primus, he wouldn't have a chance standing up to Megatron on his own..Fat-Bots need loving too!!!! Actually I really don't consider him fat, I kinda see him as a Bulky wrestler type, then he combines with Wing Saber and becomes a Badass!!!

By the way, this doesn't have to be a thread about Optimus Prime, its for the entire Energon series, and I gotta say the one disappointed figure from the line up was Hotshot, I just never liked his design..

If the arms were red and the legs both blue, it would have looked a lot more like prime. In super mode, the head is really the only recognisable part.

Yes, there was a 2 pack cybertron wingsabre and cybertron prime.

At the end of Energon, there was another coscto/sam's club/whatever 2 pack of the Robots In Disguise line which consisted of Optimus Prime, and Ultra Magnus. It didn't come in Energon-styled packaging, rather, the box came looking more like the cybertron style. I know this because i have the second. ;)

Still looks like Fatimus Prime to me.

Took a break from collecting during the Energon series there were a few characters and designs I really like.

I liked the smaller version that was the 2-pack from TRU, make him look less chubby. Eventually when I find that I'll get the larger version and the others to say I have a complete version but its not a high priority on my collection list. Still need to finish up Armada with a few bots and then Cybertron.

Skywarp2, you skipped over Armada.

You've got newfound love for BW, BM, RiD, now Energon.

You completely skipped over Armada.

Frankly, I'm disappointed at your lack of thoroughness.

I don't mind that Optimus Prime, but I'd never own it. My issue isn't with Optimus Prime himself, but on the parts that combine with him. I'd rather have it so that the components turned into robots too. It's like a requirementr for me to get a combiner, I guess.
