American Era Gundam Toy Discussion

Do you collect other toys besides Transformers? Maybe you've got a Masters of the Universe collection you'd like to show off, or maybe you like Thundercats, Voltron, G.I.Joe, Power Rangers, Star Wars, Wrestling, or any of the various comic book toy lines. Please keep the discussions here to non-Transformers toy lines.

Hmm, I bet that machine gun would look killer on a RG Gouf...

But that Zaku, wow! Most PG kits would be hard pressed to pull off that pose!!

I don't know of any PG kit that can crouch like the RG Zaku II in that photo. Very impressive. However, I'm more excited about the model's ability to be posed doing a proper Char kick!

The HGUC Gouf Custom is going to be great and hopefully Bandai will capitalize on its release by releasing the Ez-8 in the HGUC line shortly after.

The PG can do the same pose. Not bad for a kit that's over 10 years old. ;)

Finally got around to/felt like snapping a few pics of my G.F.F Deep Striker!

Fills up a shelf on a Detolf comfortably:

All them fancy words on the base:
Image

A fairly sharp sculpt and clean paint apps for a pre-painted figure:
Image

My only complaint. Like any PVC figure, it is prone to warping over time, the mammoth beam cannon on the Deep Striker caused it to progress this far after only 6 months. Pray for me that it doesn't warp much more.
Image

The other side and the super smexy smart beam gun:

lottsa fuel tanks, like only Katoki can deliver:

If you're at all into G.F.F., this is the one to get!

RG is definetely looking hawt. My NG Over Flag came in today. I still need to paint and sand down the areas where the parts were attached to runners, but here's a quick assembly, complete with stickers (stickers suck!)

To paraphrase Graham Aker, I'm in love with everything it is. I have not a clue why, but something about this suit appeals to me. Ironic because when i first saw it, i thought it was the fugliest damned thing ever.

Oh yes. I've got it disassembled right now though. I've got the stuff set up for a left-hander mobile suit (graham aker custom.)

for further reference: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vOBngvcYKuM (the title is referencing the original Japanese script.) That scene always reminds me of Zechs and the Tallgeese. Inferior machine, totally going toe to toe with a Gundam and holding it's own because of the pilot's skill.

EDIT: Here's an image of someone else's, also done in the Graham Aker style:

I almost forgot that scene. The dialogue could've used a touch of Englishification. At some point I'd like a few of the good guy mechs to go along with my celestial being group.

Wow. In that case I think a straight dub would've been better, make Graham less dramatic.

I really don't find the newer CE Gundams designs lend themselves nicely to the PG treatment...
Compare this Strike Freedom to the PG Strike Gundam. CE Gundams quickly got plain, uninspired, and mis-proportioned once Destiny started. The Proportions of this PG look identical to the 1/100, which feels like a toy, not a war machine.

2 things:

1) is MG that new scale that's 1/144 in size but has super articulation?

2) is this figure from Gundam 00? He looks real close to a 00 Gundam.

MG is 1/100 scale with more articulation and endoskeleton details depending on the model. MG/Master Grades, have been around for years.

Yes, it's from the recent Gundam 00 Awakening of the Trailblazer movie that just came out in theaters.

OO MG's and the PG have no endoskeletal details since they move using "alien magic." My guess is Qan will be no different.

Articulation is fantastic though.

Thanks for letting me know. 00's MGs are now off my want list! I guess I'll have to settle for the PG 00 ;)

Wut? Do you mean the endoskeleton is plain and boring gray plastic?

Exactly. For most people it doesn't matter, but I paint and prefer the pistons and mechanical details on the frame. Qan will be a pass for me because of it.

MG Exia and GN-X are nice kits, they just differ from the average MG in that regard. If you enjoy painting the small details on the frame and/or display MG's with any panels off these aren't the kits for you.

I'm hoping the new PG SF will have opening panels. If not, I'll pass on it and pickup a couple Zaku's. I'll never buy another PG like OO again.
