i thtought tripredicus and god neptume were bothe predecon/destrons...... then why at the begining of the beast wars 2 movie were they battling it out.....

and i thought magamatron from beast wars neo was a predecon/destron.... then why in the beast machines line is he a maximal????????????

He was the Predacon leader in BWN, when Megatron took over
Cybertron in Beast Machines, he didn't like how he was running things and refuse to help him so he allied himself with the Maximals.

Although I doubt he ever offically became a Maximal like Dinobot.

No, actually, in BW II, Tripledacus (Tripredacus) is a Cybertron (Maximal) and God Neptune is the Destron.

As far as Magmatron being brought into the BM toy line goes, he is composed of three dinosaurs and in BM all of the animal TFs are Maximals and all vehicle TFs are Vehicons, so they made his toy and his tech spec so that he is a Maximal. If they had brought him into the show, then I would agree with Cyberstrike that it would have been better that he was against BM Megatron but not completely a Maximal like how Dinobot became in BW.

I think his tech spec does refer to his search for "engery capsules" from BWN and that he hated the Maximals he it's just that he hated Megatron more for what he had done to Cybertron and the Predacons.
I think in some ways he was to suppose to be the Beast Machines-Dinobots version of Grimlock. That Magamatron is fighting his own war Meagtron and that if victory was to be obtained by allying himself and his troops with the Maximals then so be it.
After Megatron was defeated all bets would be off...

Plus he had the distinct "Dinobot" sigil as opposed to the "Maximal" one, right?

Magmatron had Predacon spark crystals in the BM release.

And personally, I think he would have had Megatron's head on a spike in the end. Magmatron fought Unicron in BW Neo and lived to tell the tale. Imagine had Big Convoy showed up too.

I had always thought that if the Dinobots had come in BM, the story would have been very differant, it would have refered to BWNeo and BW2 as being canon (Through Magmatron), the Dinobots would have been a SWAT group to rip and roared through the Vehicon armies, the end would have had Primal survive and maybe Dewussyfy... but then, maybe the end still could have happened, but with Megatron not pulling the body stunt.

well since japan wrote bw2/neo during their waiting period to get the next season of bw it sorta is a seperate continuity....

Different series. The Japanese used some of the same molds with very little repainting differences to create totally new characters (Upcoming IDW Profile books not withstanding). In BWII Tripredicus was called Tripledacus (or something like that) and was a Maximal.

Same thing with Magmatron, but vise-versa, Hasbro released the figure for US release but changed the character to a Maximal in the Dinobot line.

I think Magmatron from both series are the same character.

He was on Cybertron when Unicron showed up and survived the ordeal. After Cybertron was secure, he left and later returned, and saw what Megatron ( Who saw what happened and thought the time was right to strike a fatel blow onto the recovering Cybertron population ) had done. That or he was looking for the energy capsules and returned to Cybertron without the Unicron attack. The BM toy package has Japanese writings and talks about his BW Neo mission.

I prefer to follow the part where he is driven off of Earth by the Maximals and ends up on cybertron. The IDW comics
