Anyone know how much I could get for these things on eBay? My parents have been awfully angry

at me for buying so many recently.

I'm thinking of selling off Classics Rodimus and Jetfire (sigh I really like him too)...

and then selling movie Ironhide/Barricade/Wreckage in a bundle.

And just keeping Leader Prime/Voyager SC/Classics SC/G1 reissue SC and buying MP SC later.

Negotiate. Say you'll lay off buying any new TF's or whatever for, say, six months or something of that nature. Or do some extra stuff around the house or something. You'll regret selling off that stuff. I know I will. MP Starscream isn't worth that much sacrifice in my book.

I can't stand it when parents think they can control people.

They have no right to tell you what you and can't have.

If you like em, keep em. If they don't like it, tough.
You are not property. If you want to buy transformers, then you damn well can.

You're money, you're choice.

What tuiton anyways?

Motto: "Being illegal doesnt make something wrong."
Why not be a man and refuse to sell them? I mean jeez.....tuition? That means you're at least over 18. Look into your pants and find these little round things. They are called balls. Use them for courage and stand up for yourself. Why o why should you have to give up something you like!?

Ridiculous.

You're a grown man and you need to stand up to your parents and tell them "Hell no!".

Tuition is *their* concern, not your's. Why?

1.) You put in years of hard work at school, you earned a scholarship (I'm assuming), there are grants to be had, etc.

2.) You didn't ask to be born (though people are glad to have you, make no mistakes about that), your parents brought you into this world, and once they put you on this planet, it's their full responsibility to make sure that you get up on your feet and get started. Once you're out of the house and on your own, then (and only then) should you have to be concerned with sh*t like this.

I realize you're not into TransFormers as much as we are (and that's fine!) but today it's little things like your collection, next it will be that you didn't marry the right girl, or you're not far ahead enough in life to consider having children. "You still collect toys, you're not ready to be anyone's daddy, especially when you're still a kid. Quit being an idiot and act your age."

These are extremes I admit, but it's possible. If you let them walk all over you now, they'll do it to you forever, and use guilt like a crutch.

I'm not advocating disrespect, or anything like that, but they're not respecting you, so it's time to demand it.

...making you worry about paying for your own tuition...wtf?

My girlfriend's parents did the same thing to her (even pulled the funds right out of her savings account, which she had been building up for YEARS....) and bitched about having to pay for the fees to receive her medical license, etc.

It was their place to pay for it all, they even said it was a gift.

Don't be like my girlfriend, don't be a doormat and abused by stupid sh*t. Stand up and face them or they're always going to keep their thumb on you.

ARGH...these discussions always piss me off, because it always reminds me of my girlfriend's and my mother's families...and it just enrages me how inhuman some people can be.

Easy tigah!

But I do agree. If you're old enough to handle your own tuition, you are old enough not to have your parents dictate your finances. Since you're obviously responsible enough to get a job and earn your tuition, you have my respect and should have your parents respect for that as well. Now they just need to trust that you know what you can and cannot afford. That type of trust does need to be earned though. I don't know what your situation is like. But it sounds like there might be some trust issues?

Agreed. However, there are some parents that are just absolute pricks (and no, I'm not calling his parents pricks) and no matter what you do, it's perceived as failure.

Trust may be a moot point in some familial situations, perhaps even this one.

A friend of mine fits this situation...

His parents split up and his mother got custody of all three kids. My friend still wanted a relationship with his father, but when his dad walked out the door, he walked out on all of them....and did his damnedest to never look back. No matter how hard my friend tried, it was never enough...and he just now (after 10 years) has gotten it figured out. But in the interim, his mother was telling him he was an idiot for trying, etc. Both parents were still fighting in legal circles and they thought my friend was playing both ends against the middle (which he wasn't)...so trust went out the window and everything he did was meticulously picked apart and prodded.

I'd certainly hope that roffle doesn't ever have to go through that kind of torture and pain.

Stand up to them and fight this.

On a side note, back on topic. Do an advanced search on ebay for completed listings to get an idea of what you could get for them.

I'm not going to respond on the personal issue anymore as I really dopnot know his situation with his folks and this threaad is way off topic at this point.

Might make an interesting read to start a new thread about this subject in the General Discussion forum though.

but do you want to sell them? your fdigs, your money, and as long as you aren't at risk of losing your accomadation, and it isn't otherwise harming your life or livihood, or ruining the lives of those around you, you need to be the one who makes the choice to sell them or not.

I know many times parents don't often see the value of what we buy. They see it as just toys. To us it can be more: investments, sentiment, just a keepsake of something important.

All the above suggestions have some merit but it's up to you to decide what would suit you. Maybe a bit of each.

But for now, the most obvious to me before you do anything drastic is, have a very trusted friend keep some of them. That way you won't sell them and regret later, and then become angry with them with time. That's what a lot of my friends do. You won't be staying at home forever, and at that time you can retrieve your toys. Just make sure you keep a log of who's helping you keep who. And do make sure that it's very very good and trusted friends doing it.

I spent most of my own money on drink as a teenager. At least if I had something to show for it it would be better!

What sort of tuition is it? college? What age are you just now?

I need to borrow some money off my girlfriend until payday so I can go out and get drunk at the weekend, all because i *HAD* to get commemerative soundwave on sunday. I have not broke the news to her yet ;)

I can tell a lot of people around here don't have kids :-?

If you need the money for tuition you probably shouldn't have spent it on Transformers. I do agree with others that you'll regret selling most of them but you're going to have to come to some kind of agreement with your parents. You do live under their roof and you don't have a job, so you kind of have to meet them halfway.

I'd do what the others suggested and search eBay a bit, or put them up for sale on the forums here.

try to pull the "investment" card on them, show them how much more they are worth on ebay already, and explain that if you hold on to them longer, they'll be worth more, and etc.

If they chill out, then, before you know it, they'll have better things to be concerned with. ;)

TFs are NOT a good investment especially right now since we are the peak of the popularity. parents won't fall that nonsense.

I'm glad I don't live with my parnets anymore. Even when I was living at home and working my parents didn't care what I spent my money on. I have a 'I don't care what you think' aditude (sp?). Been like that since I was 18.

But yeah, if you have to sell them, just look what they're going for on ebay. See how many of the same item is on there. If it's not a popular item, it may not see any bids. Just do some research.
Long live the Decepticons!! I love G1 Starscream!!

Don't tell Starscream, but I'm in love with movieverse Ironhide! ;)

I'm not really sure what the households some of you guys grew up in were like, but a lot of these lines of reasoning would [b]not[/] fly in my families house. If you still live in your parents house then you are still bound by their rules. It's as simple as that. I've had to come to terms with it as I live at home still.

And as others have mentioned if you need the money for tuition then that should take priority. Not every family can afford to fully support a kid through college, nor does every family choose to.

That said, I would not suggest selling the transformers you already have. You'd probably be better served by seriously curtailing your hobby spending and put some aside specifically for enterainment or whatever so you can get MP Starscream.

Remember when it comes down to it you're still the child in the situation and your parents are the parents. It's just how things are.
