What really sucks is 4 straight homeruns. Unbelievable. Manny,J.D. Drew, Lowell and Varitek. All off Chase Wright. Wow.

Yeah, that's insane. And J.D. Drew was part of the 4 straight homers in last years Dodgers/Padres game.

Yankees' rotation is really hurting now. Good thing that they get Chien-Ming Wang back soon. Perhaps Phillip Hughes may get a call-up...

Question is does Roger still have it?

He was in the NL for a few years most of those hitters there never seen him

I feel he would get clobbered coming back to the AL

Yankees are in fear of finishing at the bottom of the east. Philip Hughes makes his debut Thursday. Personally I don't think it is a good idea but given the state of the pitching staff I guess it makes sense.

I'd be worried for the Yankees, their rotation sucks, Hughes is not their savior this season and trust me A-Rod isn't going to stay this hot much longer. Their best bet would be to trade him away to some team in the NL that has one hell of a deep Pitching farm club, plunder that club for top aces and eat most of A-Rod's contract. Personally I'd love to see them trade him to a team like San Diego for their insanely deep pitching corps.

Yeah, Tigers beat the White Sox, 6-2! South side didn't have Thome and Dye in the lineup though, and Denks was the starting pitcher.

Man, Yankees are on a terrible slide...

Durbin's line was amazing, though:

8 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 9 SO, 0 BB

It's very scary that Zumaya walked two runs in.

Yeah, he seemed rattled when the umpire didn't give me some boderline strikes. But I'm not too worried about Zumaya.

It's Rodney I'm most worried about, but he had a good scoreless inning yesterday against the Angels.

And I was glad Jones got the final out. After two straight blown saves, I didn't know how he'd do, but I guess he's a professional and a veteran, so he calmly did the job.

hmm... looks like Joe Torre is on the hotseat again, despite Steinbrenner stating that he supports Torre and Cashman.

What do you think? Will Joe Torre be fired before the end of the season?

He might if they don't make it to the playoffs

If this was 20-30 years ago Steinbrenner would of canned him by now but George is now in his 70's and much calmer

Too bad that the guy running the thing has to be canned

He isn't out there pitching and hitting

But as they say you cannot fire the players

Man, what a weird game the Tigers and Orioles had tonight. Benches clearing but no fights, Gary Sheffield hitting his first home run as a Tiger in Comerica Park and getting revenge for being hit by a pitch from Baltimore starter Daniel Cabrera, and Cabrera staring him down as he trots around the beases.

Meanwhile, Sheffield and Magglio Ordonez have teamed up to be a nice 1-2 punch in the middle of the Tigers lineup. Mags has been really hot lately and was named the AL player of the week.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Josh Hancock, his family, and the Cardinals organization.

Yankees woes continue. Philip Hughes takes a no-hitter into the seventh and has to leave the game with an injury. I feel sorry for the kid. Unbeleivable.

Yeah, I watched some of that game. Hughes has some pretty nice stuff. Man, Yankees just can't catch a break when it comes to starting pitching. I swear they must be cursed or something.

What are they going to offer to Clemens to get him to the Big Apple, $50 million a year...?

Anyway, that Justin Morneau kid is mighty impressive. When came to the Twins last year, people were talking about Mauer and Santana. But then the second half came along, and then all of a sudden this kid Morneau gets mentioned in MVP, I'm like who the heck is this guy?

But watching him play against the Tigers last weekend, it looks like he wants another MVP.

He looks like he has a quiet personality. He even seems to have a "quiet" home run swing. Meaning that with guys like Sheffield, A-Rod, Guererro, when they hit the big one, you could tell.

Meanwhile, Morneau hit 2 home runs in the series against the Tigers, and both times I didn't think the ball would leave the ball park. The kid's got impressive power.

Yeah, looks like the Yankees' starting pitching is coming around. Chien-Ming Wang pitched a great game the last time he was up.

And the Tigers are in the midst of winning their 7th straight game. Even Neifi Perez hit a home run today!!!

The Yankee announcers found out when it was flashed on the scorboard at the stadium

Weird to see the new stadium being built in the background

I'm hoping the Tigers make it back to the World Series again before that happens.

Well, looks like Mr. Joel "100 mph fastball" Zumaya is out for awhile. Hopefully Rodney and Mesa will do well. Bobby Seay has been great though.

Any chance anyone gives a flying fig about the Softbank Hawks?
I recently went to a game of theirs against the Eagles and enjoyed it a great deal. Every animal imaginable was available grilled and on a stick, there were cute japanese women lugging about insulated ice-cold mini-kegs of beer, ready to draft you a cup, and there were cheerful swag vendors selling fuzzy hawk-shaped hats, balloons, clappers, and foam fingers.
There's also this cultish expectation to stand up, clap, sing and chant at the appropriate times. There are even crowd leaders standing on ladders to guide people into doing the right thing at the right time.

Is it strange that after resolving to hate baseball in America, now in Japan I am excited about their next game (against the Nippon Ham Fighters) because of the social aspect?

And why the hell don't American games have cute women with beer, crowd leaders, and cool swag for sale at all times? :D

Did everyone have fun with Interleague Play over the weekend? It might not be fair, as Chipper Jones says, in that some teams play the good teams and some play the bad teams, but there were some interesting match ups.

What do you guys think about interleague play?

I for one think they should have more of it for two reasons:

1) more interleague play would enable the schedule makers to make a more balance schedule, in that teams will play both the good teams and the bad teams

2) your team will be able to play more different teams, instead of just the same old teams. Sure, the Tigers play in the division with three other good teams (and one not so good), but I don't want them to play the White Sox, Twins, and Indians all the time. This year for interleague play we got the Mets, Phillies, Braves, Brewers, Nats, and Cards. I would love to see the Tigers play others like Dodgers, Giants, D-backs, etc...

What do you guys think?
