WJ35: All those sweeps you've just mentioned don't add up to a ring, so they're totally meaningless.

Fact of the matter is, Boston won the 2007 World Series, and the Yankees got sloppy in the post season... again.

Meh, what would he know. He lives a couple of days drive from NY and Boston.

Besides, Jeter is probably one of the most respected Yankees around here. Rivera gets a standing O in Fenway and comes out and doffs his cap to us every time he plays here.

People in FL should support their OWN teams.

I post this only to make fans cry... its current up to the 30th of October so no whining if its missing some one. The Yankees have taken it hard so far in this Free Agency. Its doubtful that they will resign Mariano or Jorge, both of which will probably follow Torre. Outside of the New York, it doesn't look like critical damage has been done around the league.

I agree on Jorge. I have a feeling he will follow Torre, not wanting to play for Girardi. It would be really wierd to see Lowe throwing to Posada huh?

I just heard on WEEI that Rivera has agreed in principl to a multiyear deal with the Yankees though.

Detroit got Edgar Renteria from Atlanta. Renteria's a nice player, but we had to give up a nice pitching prospect in Jair Jurrjens (and OF Gorkys Hernandez).

I was mighty impressed with Jurrjens even in the limited time he spent in the big league. I felt he could have been a #2 starter capable of getting 10-15 wins next season, so I was sad to see him go. However, if there's a knock on him, he does seem like he might be injury prone, so no matter how good he is, he can't help the team if he's on the diasbled list.

What was Atlanta's motivation behind this trade anyway? Do they have a re[placement in the pipeline?

I believe the Braves are going to use Yunel Escobar in the shortstop position.
