Applying Transformers Stickers!

I thought I'd just throw this topic out and see who liked it and who didn't and why!

The original G1 transformers figures came with stickers you could apply yourself. I personally loved it b/c it added depth to your figures and it was just plain fun and great quality time spent! It was a little of a pain to apply the really small stickers, esp. when you have fat and clusmy or unsteady fingers! :( Also it was a pain to get the stickers off again when applied on crooked! One might think they had super glue on them, cause they sure didn't want to come off! So one learned very quickly to apply carefully and correctly the first time! (Yeah right...easier said than done!!)

SO having said all this...I think it would be cool when they start producing the Classic Line again, if they would include stickers to apply! I realize that you can get alot of stickers at Reprolabels.com, but not for all of them, esp. the newer ones.

I miss the days when Transformers had real rubber tires and metal parts! SO tell me what you guys think about the applying stickers issue...yes or no...and why!

I miss none of it.

As you mentioned, the stickers are an absolute pain to grapple with.
They fade, they wear out, they tear and look bad once damaged.

The rubber tires will crack and fall apart sooner or later. (It happened with Shockwave's arm cable, it's a common problem)

The Die-Cast is too heavy, chips easily, and raises the cost for no good reason. Plastic can replicate what the metal pieces do and it does a better job. Plastic can be glued and dealt with in terms of breakage. Die-Cast requires too much work to handle and keep care of.

Reprolabels offers a terrific service, I should know, I've used it.

But for the figures themselves? I like the battle plan that Hasbro has going for the figures now. Paints and tampographs all the way.

...although I'm still not sure why they chose to use a sticker for Bonecrusher's emblem on the Movie Deluxe figure. If we finally do get a Voyager Bonecrusher (I haven't given up hope yet!)...maybe this time, they'll tampo it. I'm just waiting for that sticker to fall off.

I have reissue Insecticons and I've avoided the stickers.

For one thing, about half of them don't even look right on the characters. This goes for just about all of the g1 figures I've seen, I'm talking about the weird random red blue and yellow "robot parts" stickers on silver. Ugh, they're pretty ugly if you ask me.

I've been debating on whether I should put the Decepticon logos on them though. I know I should, but at the same time they look cool enough without them. The logo would be better on a clear backing than on white, too. If I ever order from Reprolabels I'd probably get something like that for them, but otherwise, I'd rather not have peeling, possibly would-be crooked stickers on them ^_^

I have no problem applying stickers.

But i don't like the fact that they deteriorate very fast.

I care little either way for the actual stickers.

I do like applying them though, just like the old Zoids toys, applying the stickers was part of the fun.

But for the most part they do not fit the toys themselves.

i remember my G1 Slingshot, the toy was cute and all, but it was hell to apply the stickers correctly, even with the small hands i had back then when i was a kid. even the pair of stickers on the toy's chest was very hard to align properly, not to mention the arm stickers.

i don't miss them. stickers suck big-time in the long run, and they wear easily, even after handling your toys with extreme care, AND it would would FAIL miserably when you've got a $100 vintage figure and you ruined it because of wanky sticker application.

like Autobot032 said, the combo of paint and tampographs are way to go.

I love applying the stickers and decals to my transformers. I even invest in the upgrade stickers produced by Reprolabels. They definitely add a new depth of character.
