Where & when are you shopping?

Metroplex
Big W $148 on sale for $98
Target $149 on sale for $119
TrU $199 on sale for $149
Costco $119

Masterpieces
Hasbro OP & Soundwave, depending on when you purchased it at TRU were available for $112.50- $149.99.
Acid Storm $75- $99.99

Voyagers are the cheapest at Kmart for $39. Uncle Pete's also receives older Voyagers from time to time like Prime Bulkhead, Starscream, OP & Megatron for $25 & Deluxes for $20.
FoC Soundwave despite being $49 was on sale at Target for 20% off a few times.

Big W recently had a sale on Prime Deluxes at $10, Commanders at $5 & Playsets for $15 each with plenty of stock available.

You have eBay sellers like Figurebot in Perth who i use regularly & apart from BBTS, which i very rarely shop with these days, you also have Robotkingdom, Chimungmung, Anime Export, HLJ etc all servicing the region which will result in cheaper shipping & an up to date collection.

Gee I didn't hlj was Australian I'm talking about Australian stores like toys r us as for big w 98 dollars is bullshit I just checked the website and they never bought any in stock I don't know what costco and uncle pete are but I've never seen a voyager megatron or bulkhead in stock Anywhere.

Target doesn't even stock metroplex so I don't know where you live but 98 dollars for metroplex that's cheaper than a leader class figure.

Target stocked Metroplex, given that he made it all the way to Cairns, at that price, he should have been readily available around the country.

HLJ isn't Australian, they're based in Japan. With the exception of Figurebot, all of those sites in my previous post are online stores in Asia.

As for the prices, they were the sale prices at which you could have obtained them for, perhaps I should have been more specific in that regard.
Anybody here will be able to do a Google search for Big W $98 Metroplex and be able to validate the price.

The price of a toy is also one of the factors behind a retailer carrying a particlar range & when they do. If we use Metroplex as an example, he was advertised & made available before Christmas to capitalize on increased traffic. Retailers dont want to get stuck with excess stock of big ticket items after the school holiday or Christmas periods.

The Platinum Edition OP, Omega & Ultra Magnus were all available for the mid-year toy sales -they're not lines that retailers regularly carry.

If you can't find a figure at a particular store, check their website. Most stores like Target & Big W were offering $8 or $9 home deliveries or the option to collect in-store.

Just went to the shopping Centre metroplex is 200 dollars so that was a huge waste of time ps retailers can say whatever they want in regards to sales doesn't mean they had it in stock can anyone confirm they bought it for 98 dollars ?

You wont find it at their sales prices because the sales are over. They were on sale, as noted previously.
And why go into a store when you could of just used Google or White Pages for their number & rang to see if they had stock & how much it was first? If it was such a waste of time...

Have a look at otca.com.au
That's Ozformers, the Australian Transformers website. Do a search for Metroplex & you'll find quite a few people who have purchased it at $98 & at $119 during sale periods.

I went looking for MP Soundwave at TrU in various Melbourne stores. Tried for weeks and found nothing. I've seen a few Metroplex at TrU for $199, one at Target for around the same price, a bunch of Beast Hunters stuff I'm not really interested in at Target and Big W, a few FoC figures at Target, but haven't seen any Generations (non-FoC) figures for a loooooong time. I mean, are we even getting any of these new deluxes with in-pack comics? I had to order Springer from Amazon because apparently Australia isn't good enough to get the latest Voyager figures. I'd love to get Skids and Cosmos, but I'm not holding my breath.

I've seen the odd MP Skyward years ago, an occasional MP Starscream (newer version), but that's it. I really do feel we get jacked here in Australia. And yes, before you do the whole "Oh, then just order them online" spiel I can't justify forking out X amount on a figure in one hit (for MPs and the more expensive figures) so I'd love to have the option to lay-buy/lay-away but you have to find them first. :-\
