Beast Wars!?!? WTF!?!?!

There is more to Transformers than movies, cartoons, comics and toys. Discuss anything else Transformers here.

I prefer the vehicular/jet designs over the beast modes, but if the stories really are that great, perhaps I should consider watching a couple episodes on Youtube or something.

You do that. When it first started out, it was a bit iffy (since the writers didn't know or care anything about Transformers and had no intention of connecting it to G1 in any way).

Once they realised that a) TF fans actually gave a ****, and a big one, about what they were doing; and b) that in the TFs history there was a ton of backstory they could plunder for ideas and reference, giving their writing that much more richness and depth; the whole thing picked up fast.
As previously stated, 'Code Of Hero' is probably the high point in most people's estimation, but I'd recommend checking out a chunk of earlier stuff first, if only so you can get to grips with the characters. It really is top notch, and as much as I've always loved G1, the storytelling in BW is far superior in my book.

Not quite; Prime and some others were in 3D in the G2 titles and the adverts for the toyline of same. Although we don't talk about that... /:)

Oh yeah, I forgot about the G2 opening scene. Although that wasn't very good 3d to be honest...

I haven't seen any G2 comercials, so I may need to look the up on Youtube to find out why.

Beast Wars is most likely my favorite cartoon series ever, there's not much about it I can say that hasn't been already said in this thread. I just wish it was followed by a better sequel than Beast Machines.

Actually I thought it was cool, and it made me want to buy the laser rods, and rotor force more than ever, and I couldn't even see the animated part that well.

I know you must be a troll, but I am feeling brazen today, so I will answer your question.

I supportED BW at the time because I went without what I condider (Flame on fanboys!) proper Transformers. You must understand that when BW arrived, I was without any new TF stuff (Comics, figures, a show, etc.) for close to ten years.

Needless to say all my money, and I mean ALL of it went to new BWs, so as to send a message to Hasbro to keep making TFs, in any form, because even BWs were better than nothing!

Now that said, I still found a few of the toys to be instant winners: (Black gorilla) optimus Primal, Scorponok, and Optimal Optimus spring readily to mind. But that does not mean I liked the show, or most of the designs, or charachters, for that matter.

But do be careful, many members on this board love their BWs, so if you don't want to get banned before you reach 20 posts, it would be wise to keep your unpopular opinion to yourself before you are forcibly silenced by the majority on here.

Oh yeah, and don't dare say you love G1, that automatically makes you a "Gee Wunner", which is supposed to be an insult, I suppose...

Ive always considered myself a G1 purest. When BW came out i watched like 2 episodes and quickly wrote it off because it was so different from what I knew as "Transformers". About 2 years ago I started watching it again with a new more positive attitude about it. Im glad I did because it really is very well written. I really can't say there was any character I really didn't like. Rat Trap was awesome with his "who gives a crap" attitude made for some good comedy that as an adult still really enjoyed. Dinobot was pretty hardcore also. The tie ins to the original Transformers were also very well done and made some great thing to ponder.

People do not get banned because they state opinions, people get warned and banned because they don't follow the rules.

Opinions are welcome here, that's why we have the board to discuss our ideas and opinions, but calling names, flaming, trolling, repeating topics continuously, etc. are not welcome...

I could not agree more. But there are several people who do none of those things, and state an opinion that may be unpopular, and they are flamed, and no one seems to care. Yet, if they back the "home team", they are given full reign to say what they want, often breaking the rules. You only need see many locked threads to get my point.

I could care less what series anyone loves the most, really, it does not keep me awake at night...but when I am harassed and scoffed at for liking (mostly) G1, called such things as a "Gee Wunner", then told to "deal with it" by mods/admins on a thread, that is what grills my cheese. It would be different if there were balance, and all were respected (so long as they do not break the rules), but I have found this NOT to be the case. This is where my opinions originate, but I do NOT agree with trolling, which is what our thread author has obviously done.

I hope I have made my "Gee Wunner" self clear and all understand, or try to.

Hey, if it shuts the majority up, go with the majority. It helps make things easier, and I'm usually the majority, so I have no complaints! *Thumbs up*

But where the hell did you get that you can't say you love G1 on these boards? G1 is the Genesis, if it weren't for G1, there wouldn't BE Transformers. No-one rips on G1 Fans, just people who run down others for liking series' other than G1.

C'mon Sid don't be like that. You don't know what he's been through. Some people go way across the line to make other's feel that their thoughts and ideas are not valid.

Please make a comment on the thread topic, but leave the G1'ers stuff alone. What you said is clearly the reason why YFG stated what he did.

Dude, seriously, I think that hey, if you like G1, and if you're not shoving your opinion down people's throats, then you're all good, and I don't see you shoving your opinion down people's throats. I mean, there are very few people who DON'T like G1, although with Transfans becoming younger and younger, you get kids not getting it, and disliking it. "Like what you like", I say.

Odd, though. I've never seen anyone flamed for liking G1; it just seems like a ridiculous idea considering it's what started it all. I've seen people flamed for liking G1 and shouting down anyone who likes anything else, but then they're being attacked for the throat-forcing, not the Geewunning.

I miss stuff, though... :?

Anyway, although I s'pose 'Gewunner' could be bandied about as an insult, it's also used as a badge (of honour?) by those who like to distinguish themselves as only liking G1.

Personally, I like G1 first and foremost, mostly because it's the characters I grew up with, and they were incredibly well developed (and have become ever moreso over the years, especially in the comics).
Beast Wars was awesome, partially because it continued from where G1 left off, and largely because of the quality of the shows.
Beast Machines continued the trend, but while the animation lacked somewhat (in its bizarre 'morphing' transformations and the fact that many of the characters barely resembled the toys, as well as the weird turning Cybertron 'back' into an organic world), what I really loved about it was its darkness; the sense that these few Maximals really were fighting impossible odds. When the Autobots pretty much outnumbered the Decepticons, even though the 'Cons were militarily superior, there was less of an impact when the good guys triumphed; when a handful off good guys are the only resistance against an entire dominated world... when they win, it really means something.

Most of the recent lines I've not got into so much. I like the toys, but none of the shows have engaged me, and I haven't grown to care about most of the characters. On the other hand, the toys serve as great updates of original characters, or as new ones of my own creation to supplement the ranks. So it's all good.

I always thought "Geewunner" and G1-fan are not the same. G1-fan is someone who prefers G1, and there's nothing wrong with that. (I think it's pointless to fight over opinions and tastes anyway).

The so-called "Geewunner", on the other hand, is someone who also prefers G1, but the difference with "G1-fan" category is that "Geewunner" refuses to respect non-G1 -fans opinions and/or tastes, and flames them because they don't agree with him.

Well, I don't know if that's the universal meaning, but that's how I understood it was meant when I started to hear of the word "Geewunner".

So, you're not "Geewunners" if you're not the type who tries to shove your opinions down on everyone elses throats.

And I think YouFearGalvatron's point is valid, too. There are WAY too many flamers and trolls hanging around this place. But I don't think the staff is letting them run free on purpose, I suppose it's because this site has grown so large that they just can't keep track on everything, anymore.

If you have specific concerns, please PM Cyber Bishop, GetterDragun, or any other mods. They will take care of it. While not a mod, I see what they do behind the scenes (as a news guy), and they are really working hard to make this a fantastic place for EVERYONE to participate appropriately.

Yes, I think you nailed the difference between G1 fan, and 'Geewunner'. Since text can be read in many different ways, some things people type can be taken really differently by those who read it based upon mood, and previous experiences.

Hopefully, if you feel you are being abused by a fellow community member you take time to PM a mod about it, if they have not already stepped in, okay?

Great Cosby reference there, Damolisher. I am old enough to remember the Cos'.

I agree entireley. It is next to impossible to police a site so large at every moment. But my beef is their complacency while participating in a thread where it happens. I am not just talking about me here, eithier. I am sure others have seen it, because I have seen it happen to them.

I never understodd the whole I hate your series thing eithier.

It's quite cool TF show, though I think it gets a bit overrated some times. I like it, but I don't think it's plotlines are THAT great. It's just that we transfans are used to quite bad writing, so an above average cartoon feels like a masterpiece.

To me, it's the voice acting and dialogue that makes it interesting.

And "Code of Hero" is the best episode of the show.

Whoa whoa whoa, You and Tigertracks misunderstood me ( one of the downfalls of text without inflection)

I wasnt giving you a hard time, I was saying that if people are giving you a hard time you should just ignore it. I know people can be obnoxious but one of the benefits of a message board is the freedom to ignore prodding.

I left a TF board for the very reasons you mention, I was not in any way trying to keep you quiet on the subject.

I apoligize for the misunderstanding, I have said before I welcome opinionated people.

In fact, I had a somewhat popular thread going about this very same subject, My TF Boards = Bitchfest thread was all about the large amount of negative posters who seem to do nothing but bash others.

I certainly am not interested in being counted among them.

And thank you Tigertracks 24, for being one of the FEW mature ones who keep me from leaving this site for another TF board. Yours is the balance that I speak of, but hardly see here.

If you speak the truth, it's all gravy.

And who doesn't like gravy?
