Armada Sideways was always one of my favorites back when I was a kid, and now he has a well respected spot on my shelf, backstabbin' everybody.

The Knock Out mold is pretty great, but sadly I don't have one of them. D:

Wreck-Gar is rather cool, looks a bit mental and is fairly poseable. Movie Knock-Out is also very cool.

Must be the creepiness of him, to be honest.

I do not own Animated Prowl, but I've heard and seen some seriously amazing things about him!

Do you think Brimstone should be in a top 5? And if so, would you be down to write a little blurb about why he is awesome?

I am currently doing a top 5 cycle list and this thread came up in my research (I hate forgetting toys).

I have made 2 decisions so far.

The top 3 will be the following:

Animated Prowl
Animated Oilslick
RID Fracture

The other decision is the honourable metions:

Honourable mentions: 2007 Movie and ROTF Arcee for the best motorcycle modes ever but the robot modes suffer and are downright ugly. RTS Wreckgar for being an amazing effort with a kickass robot mode but the breakage issue and missalignment cannot be forgiven enough to be considered one of the best.

To complete the top 5, I came up with this list of contenders:

Movie Chromia/Elita 1
ROTF Knockout
Energon Arcee
Transformers Brimstone
DOTM Tailpipe
Beast Machines Thrust
Prime Arcee/ Chromia
G2 Roadrocket

Dont really know who to choose to fill in the other 2 spots. I am leaning towards, Brimstone, Prime Arcee (not the first edition version) G2 Rodrocket and ROTF Knockout.

Send me in private to not spoil the readers :) It doesnt have to be long, the important part is that it has to say why you believe it is one of the best.

Ok so we have one down, just one spot left.

Should it be Prime Arcee, G2 Roadrocket or ROTF Knockout :-?

I think the PRiD Arcee mold is the best. Tight construction, a believable alt mode, a bot mode that doesn't suffer for the small vehicle, and generally good detailing.

It's also offered high quality redecos like Chromia and the Queen of the Racing World, Flareup.

She's the best.

However my favorite bike TF is going to shock many. But its ot really because the bike is all that good or because its robot mode is great in fact its quite the opposite. It because of the gimmicks. In this case the gimmick made the toy.

Meet Armada Sideways.

What makes it so special?

The minicons. It was the only figure in Armada that had 2 minicons. That were also Headmasters, and that could combine into a convincing humanoid rider.

And yes I admit the execution wasn't great, the concept is awesome. I only wish they'd revisit the concept again at some point.

There's an Armada character I wish they'd CHUG up.

Out of the motorcycle TF's I own, HA Tailpipe, BH Arcee, Gen. Chromia (2 vers) and United Wreck Gar/Gen. Junkheap/TFSS 3.0 Tarantulus, my favourite mould here would be the Wreck Gar one.

Sure it's not perfect, and has got the potential to break the handlebars if you follow the instructions (oops my Junkheap is now a little lopsided) but really like how it reflects the original characters (Wreck Gar and the Junkions.) I'm not sure where the above mentioned "misalignment" is - once I got around how the figure worked it all fits in nicely.

It's a dirt bike pure and simple, perfect for going nuts over a planet of junk, the whole robot mode apart from the chest/head is asymmetrical, which is normally a bad thing, but for a bot (potentially) made of junk and spare parts, it really works for me.

And best of all, they can ride each other. So you can recreate the whole "Dare to be stupid" scene in the '86 movie in stop motion if you have enough Junkions.

I'll tell you. Its in the front when you want to connect the handle to the botom wheel rods in alt mode. For some reason with mine, even if I transform the bottom hands/motor well, the rods on the side of the front wheel are not perfectly aligned with the handle part which creates a stress when I merge the two for motorcycle mode.

There are a few I got in mind but for now I'm bringing up a more recent moto and that's CW legends Groove. I really like the over all design of the bike and IMO it's a real homage to the original G1 figure. :VEHI:

Thanks for that, I think I had that issue at first, though I eventually got it sorted somehow during later transformations?.

It can probably work, but it is such a fine line between perfect fitting and high stress that it in an assembly line, a small difference can change the experience from figure to figure.

I only actually have a measly two motorbike TFs, though I do want to change that. I currently own RID Arcee (who is currently standing in as Chromia and will be getting a new head eventually for that very reason) and Energon Rapid Run (who I loved as a kid but really hasn't aged well- especially after one of his Minicons went missing).

In terms of bike bots I like from a purely aesthetic point of view (can't comment on functionality as I don't own them) I'd say:

2007 Movie Arcee: A superb bike mode, an awesome robot mode (though the head takes some getting used to with its 50s hair and parrot beak) and a sweet colour scheme.

Animated Oil Slick: Y'all know how much I love this guy. Once I've cleared enough space to begin collecting TFs again he's a top priority.

RID Fracture: Between the sweet cyber-chopper mode, the great big blunderbuss/carbine and his general "evil bounty hunter" look, he's probably the only RID2015 toy I would buy without a second thought.

Cybertron Ransack/Galaxy Force Gasket: For one thing, he looks like Kaneda's bike from Akira, which is awesome. For another, he's just a really cool looking little Scout class figure. Though I must admit, with those high heels, he's just a new head away from being a fairly convincing fembot. He/She does need Crumplezone to go with him/her though, and sweet PRIMUS those eBay prices...

Energon Arcee: Dated, but cute as a button and pretty neat. I'm actually tempted to buy one and make a kit on Shapeways to turn her "bow" into a giant syringe and have her as an Autobot "nutty nurse".
