Best Series Of toys?

Postby Bumbled » Mon Jul 02, 2007 8:44 pm

G1, Beast Wars, Beast Machines, Armada, Energon, Cybertron or The Movie toys?

Which series of toys was the best for you... I would have to say Movie Toys because of their high detail and Beast Wars because there good quality material.

Weapon: Sniper Rifle
G1 Masterforce without a doubt...

But there has been a lot of great improvement in poseability since them, but I simply love the stuff that was released in Masterforce, and Victory (and Zone too!)!

I collected some Beast Wars when I was younger. I was enchanted with the Transmetals, in particular Optimus Primal and Megatron, which I proudly owned. I started to get tired of always having to keep up with the updates (I remember when I looked at Optimal Optimus for the first time at the shop, I was like, WTF? Not getting that), and when I saw Transmetal dragon Megatron, rather than feeling excitement, I just didn't feel like buying him. So ended my Beast Wars fun. But Beast Wars should get 7/10 overall, given their creativity and courage in trying something new.

I tentatively bought Mega Cheetor in Beast Machines and after a week I never looked at it again. No fun, no interesting design, blargh. I dropped out of Transformers altogether. Beast Machines is probably the worst series I've personally experienced. 2/10

In terms of play value I would have to say Energon and Cybertron are the best. From what I've seen last year and before, they had a massive range of toys, and massive figures like Starscream, Primus, Galaxy Convoy, and heaps of neat little gimmicks that I personally was attracted to (although I never bought any). But this was when I remembered that most Transformers aren't as poopy as Mega Cheetor. 9/10

I think the movie line has been pretty good; it has reawakened my fandom which essentially died out after I bought Mega Cheetor. The movie toys offer reasonable play value, have a reasonable range of Autobots and Decepticons, and the Scout Class ones are pretty cool. The new designs I welcome, in particular Cybertronian Protoform Prime and Megatron (although Megatron could have been executed much better. In fact, the new aesthetic with the movie Transformers is what I like. G1 fans may hate it, but as one who has just gotten back into Transformers, the 2007 line is perfect for a fresh start to both the toys and the story canon.

Did I mention I like Prime's new look, both in his Protoform and Earth form? :P

So overall personally I think the movie line is the best, although Energon and Cybertron are probably more popular with the kids and I am not surprised at all.

So IMO the best series are Energon, Cybertron, and 2007.

My only complaint is that I wish they had more gimmicks. Prime only has one missile to fire, which is a lot less to say when compared to the previous Galaxy Convoy.

I wish I had gotten back into Transformers when Cybertron was released. I remember wandering around the toy store and seeing Vector Prime, Optimus, Megatron, Starscream and Primus... I was amazed how powerful these guys had become and were! They had come a long way!

Cybertron was alright as a show, just the fighting and emo stuff...

Oh and yeh Raymond Tiger is right... you can get those on Ebay and from Hasbro. But I can't find any in the shops though.

Yeah thanks for the suggestion guys. I know Starscream and Metroplex are still around at the shops, they're reasonably priced now. But now I want to collect one continuity only, and stick with a canon consistent collection. If I collected Cybertron when it came out, I probably would have stuck with that as well as this movie line.

I actually am interested in watching the Galaxy Force anime. I like it when the Transformers befriend kids or teenagers. While the older Sam Witwicky is a fine choice for the 2007 movie, I always thought Autobots making friends with kids was cool. I hope this happens sometime.

It's lame but I'm a quality over quantity guy, mostly for space issues, and the fact that having less is sometimes more enjoyable.

That said MP is my favorite line, mainly because MP Prime is my favorite TF toy. Classics gets a close second followed by either beast wars or g1, maybe even the movie line.

I don't usually go by lines though, I go by good figures and I mix 'em together like an awesome transformers stew. I will say right now I'm most excited about the movie line, basically because I just got back from the movie and I wasn't let down at all.

I would have to say that either G2 or the Masterpiece series was the best, despite being partial to G1.

I've got to give it to the MP/Binaltech line. It's given us some great figures and the MP line looks like it will keep providing new ones for years to come.

MP Prime
MP Megatron
MP Starscream
MP Anime Starscream
MP Skywarp
BT Streak
BT Hound
BT Skids
KissPlay Rodimus

Those are some damn fine G1-inspired figures.

Fair deal about the "stew" option. But I don't get the ones in the line just because they are in the line. I am not getting Megatron thanks to his bad reviews. I am also hesitant in getting Jazz and 74 Bumblebee.

I will wait for Galvatron or a new Megatron to come out in this canon and see if that one is any improvement.

Don't get 74 Bumblebee, unless you really like Bumblebee, but if you just want a toy get the 08 one that will be out soon... or already out where you live. Unleashed is a good model too...

It is very good news that the MP line seems to be continuing at least.

You are correct, those are some very fine examples of great pieces.

And what's so bad about RID that you missed it out? And where's G2? I'm not saying they'll get lots of votes, but you should at least include 'em! :D

Masterforce and Headmasters.

That, in my opinion, was and always will be the golden era for Transformers from a design standpoint. But a few of the movie toys really stand on their own as exqusite works of engineering art. Leader Prime and Voyage Starscream spring to mind.

Masterforce and Headmaster were even better than Series I (1984), and Series I was awesome.

And let's not forget the WST and MP lines, oh, and Binaltech/ALternators...
